@Baileys_Babe, I worked out that I was putting it off because I didn’t want to touch the gunked on liquid bottle top, nor did I want put rubber gloves on for such a small job …. (Yeh, I know, zero logic in this … 🤷‍♀️)
I grabbed the wiping down cloth and used that to unscrew the gunky top and put it back on. Quick rinse of hands and I was good to go! 😊

I agree the top was a gunky mess, I took the top off using rubber gloves, put the top in the washing up bowl, transferred a bowl of hot water (next job was the washing up), used an old toothbrush to give it a scrub, put the top back on the bottle. It is a great improvement.

I have a nice long list for this week and then our blooming car insurance renewal quote dropped into emails.  This is annoying as my list now has to go onto 2 sides of paper and particularly annoying why insurance companies never seem to give the best price to existing customers!

Posted a little gift to a friend who is feeling a bit down

took our new artwork into our local picture framers to get it framed professionally rather than trying to shove it into a frame from Ikea that isn't the right size.  Will definitely cost more but we will enjoy the art for years to come. We were a bit MSE because we came home for coffee in the garden instead of at the coffee shop.

Purchased and wrapped a 50th birthday gift.  I took my time and used pretty wrapping paper and ribbons so the present looks really nice - even if I do say so myself.

Less interesting and more admin OATs can get dealt with tomorrow 😉

Did some incredibly boring and surprisingly difficult to find pension research. A fellow invigilator had said that when they received their state pension they got less than expected as the local government pension we're in somehow negated their other contributions. All resolved (I hope!) but wading through a ton of complex non-information was not my idea of a good time

I think this counts as full on, official, Adulting!

Made the decision! Pulled up the feeble pepper plant that hasn’t grown for a month after its growing tip died (there was a tiny, trembling possibility of a new sprout, millimetres long at the top of the stem this morning, but no, it had its chance!) and put a new one from the plant centre in its place! 👏😊

Current local Gov pension  will not affect your state pension, only that before the changes when you paid lower NI contributions.  Your NI account will show if any past deductions are affecting your future pension.  If you still have any questions I suggest you go to the pensions bit of this forum and ask.  They are very helpful & read a couple of threads on there & you very soon know who knows their stuff.

Thank you @badmemory, I think I got to the bottom of it, as invigilators we're support staff so paid by the council and our pension is LGPS (local government pension scheme), people who were in it pre 2016 paid lower national insurance so got less state pension but that situation has now ended.
Hopefully HMRC won't still be guesstimating people's contributions when I get to state pension age (if I am fortunate enough to do so 🤞) but you never know with HMRC 😂😭
Already bracing myself for them doing something mad that takes years to sort out what with me being paid by an employer and self-employed!

I just run the top under the hot tap for the washing up (and use the brush/cloth to make sure I've got it all) and then do the refill.

I would recommend making a note to annually go on line & check that everything is showing as it should.  Much better to sort once a year than try to play catch up years down the line.
The problem is that HMRC can only record what they are told about.
This is a long time ago but someone I know worked for a small firm for years & not in a minor role.  Overnight they go out of business & disappear abroad.  Turned out that less that half the employees were actually officially on the payroll.  So no unemployment benefit no redundancy & no pension & no pay slips so no proof.  He landed up working in one of the arab states for a lot of years.
