My reward on one account expires on 30 June. The ability to renew it was available online. Be interesting to see what any letter they send me about renewing says. Though, for my reward that's expiring on 31 May, they sent the letter on 24 April so maybe I won't even get a letter.

I didn't get any letters about mine, just did it in the app.

I do find this all bizarre.

Why on earth announce things are changing on the account/rewards - but not confirm at the same time what the changes are and exactly when they happen. Surely work it all out first - and announce what the new rewards are.

If they don't know yet - why announce anything?
I agree. Maybe they are trying to gauge public reaction first and then decide what to do next.

When they dropped the reward to £3 then again to £2 (in 2018 I think it was ?) .....they then put the reward back up to £5 .
This £3 then £2 drop cleared some reward customers out as they got the hump jumping hoops for £2 a month per account.

This time the fivers may well be terminal but I would wait out for the fat lady to sing .
Halifax at the best of times can be vague after all they call the shots so can do whatever

If the multiple account fivers end after 15 years or so then a £3000 plus run of fivers or more for some players is over..

Halifax will then end up waving another customer carrot in some shape or form if the rest of market does .

    Wise words.

There's still nothing new on Halifax website and 17th June is just over a week away. They're going to have to announce something in the next week otherwise anyone applying for a new/renewed Reward Account will have no rewards to choose from!  :'(

I hate to say it but I think exactly this will happen and I think this is by design.
  • I have a reward expiring on 31 August 2025, so....

does that mean that Halifax will honour my August activity and pay up c.12 Sep, for the last fiver? 🤔

That is how I interpret it anyway, and then no need to jump through the hoops from 1 September. Just downgrade or ditch (no longer eligible for any switches with those that offer them any more, sadly).

"you won’t be able renew or switch your perk"
IMO, only one interpretation is possible.

I think there was some speculation in the news articles linked earlier in the thread that Halifax were going to unilaterally withdraw all rewards. There's nothing official from Halifax either way on that, so I guess we wait and see what happens when they make their announcement next week. I agree though that the logical interpretation of the vague info on their website is that all existing rewards will run their course and we just won't be able to add/renew under the existing rewards system.
