Halifax Scrapping £5/Cinema ticket Rewards.

Got my remaining seven Vue cinema vouchers by email - not forgetting the half price popcorn.
So I am assuming all the Halifax rewards final payouts are done?
Its been fun while it lasted.
Likely to use my first voucher to watch the Glen Powell remake of the Arnie movie Running man due for release next week.....which is about a deadly competition where contestants must survive thirty days while being hunted down. Sort of seems appropriate for the Halifax rewards process each month!4 -
Received my remaining 17 vouchers as well yesterday. Still have 29 vouchers from previous months!Rich2808 said:Got my remaining seven Vue cinema vouchers by email - not forgetting the half price popcorn.

Got my remaining cinema tickets yesterday 3 on one account and 8 on the other, to add to my 23 remaining ones from previous months so will keep me in films for the next year. Came in a strange format and not as easy to copy (I usually screenshot and keep in a folder in my pictures on my phone) as the usual ones as all grouped together, but sure I will manage to use ok.akh43 said:Rich2808 said:Good to see everyone got their multiple £5s
No sign yet of an email with my final Vue cinema reward vouchers - and wasn't paid the £5s either.
So am assuming the cinema vouchers will follow next week?I got a text off Halifax re both my reward accounts whilst on holiday as, I only have 2 reward accounts, both for cinema tickets one due to expire in December 25 and the other in May 26. Hope this does not mean I will be getting cash instead of cinema tickets as I much prefer the cinema tickets, hence why I chose them. Has anyone else had the same message? No mention in the July letter of cinema tickets getting cash, only the magazines."Dear *** Your Reward Extras offer has now ended as explained in the letter sent in July. By the end of October you will receive a payment into account ending **** called 'Reward payout' for your remaining rewards."
Now looking for a new account to transfer to, but will downgrade for the moment to avoid any changes0 -

Thank you. I did know that I will now get paid gross interest on my account....I just hadn't expected 24p this monthKing_Of_Fools said:
Whilst removing the rewards, Halifax have started to pay interest on the account (if you fulfil a number of requirements).Super_Stomper said:As an extra point, I received £0.24p interest on 1/10/25; I wasn't expecting that.
A side effect is that anybody who earnt their £5 reward by holding £5000 in their account (instead of the £500 debit card spend) will now be better off than before!0 -
The Reward was actually paid net, i.e. after tax. If you fill in a tax return you have to put it into a different bit of the form. The lump sum will fall into the same category. The new interest will be paid gross so will be taxable.masonic said:
It's a one-off payment, so doesn't fall into any of the taxable categories. Similar to a switching incentive. This should be the case even for those who opted for the keep £5k in the account option (where their monthly reward was taxable as an annual payment).Hattie627 said:Just wondering if the reward payoff payments are taxable? The £5 monthly payments weren't taxable, Does the same apply to the payoff amounts?0 -
No, that's incorrect. The £5 Reward for spending £500 on your debit card, which most people opted for, was treated as cashback and was paid without any tax deduction. Only those who opted to keep £5k in the account received their higher £6.25 reward net of basic rate tax. But that only equates to an interest rate of (at best) 1.5% before tax, which is rubbish, so nobody with any sense would have picked it.Super_Stomper said:
