Interesting……..no sign of anything on any of the five accounts held between my wife and I.  Anyone else in that position?

I've downgraded my 3 Reward current accounts to current accounts on 23 October. I recycled £1500 through all three accounts on 1st October. For safety, should I do this again on 1st November or is it safe not to do so?
  • Accounts all downgraded and two of the four [one wife's] now have switches in progress. One I'll keep as in proper use and the remaining account will just be a cat in the bag so to speak, lol!

    ...
I suppose there is no point in keeping the Reward Current account status.
The only reason is if you are optimistic Halifax may make the Reward account more attractive in future (as they have done in the past) and limit customers to one (new/upgraded) account each (also as they have done in the past).

But impossible to know if this will be the case - but my guess is something new will happen in about 3 years time, maybe sooner if there's lots of switching out.  So for the sake of cycling the money I'm going to keep my 3 going.

just 2 things spring to mind but probably obvious.

your rewards hadn't expired last month? did you get £5 in to each account 12th/13th of this month?
you completed the requirements in September?

i am sure if "missing" payments was a widespread issue this board would be much busier right now.

    good luck.

Received my last payment I got £10 which I only thought I would get £5 as my reward ended in november, but maybe the £5 I got in september was for august and the £10 was for september and october and nothing for november, as my reward expired around the 8th of november I think so maybe didn’t get anything for that.

Just bumping this up. For those who have just downgraded, are you confident that you don't need to cycle £1500 through the former Reward account(s) in November to avoid a monthly fee being charged? Looking for reassurance!

If you downgrade now, it will be a normal account throughout November so no fee should be charged, surely?

Downgraded all 3 of mine yesterday.

I've done the same and we've met the Reward account terms for October so no, we don't need to worry about that anymore: the terms of the standard accounts don't require it.

    Account fees

Reward Current Account monthly account fee

The Reward Current Account has a monthly account fee of £3 that we take from your account on the first working day of the month. The fee won't be charged for any month that at least £1,500 is paid into the account. You pay the monthly account fee in arrears and your first fee will be charged when the account has been open for one full calendar month. For example, it you opened your account on the 10th October, the first fee will be charged on the 1st December. If you pay the £3 Reward Current Account Fee in four of the last six months, we may downgrade your account to a Current Account.
