Just off to get the sticky!!!
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 2/1/08. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning everyone, goodness, its been a while since i started the daily thread!!!
Well, still at work for me, but just one LO here again today. Shes a 'bigger LO' if you see what i mean, so it will mean i get a bit more done than with the younger ones here.
Plan for today, is to use up a load of eggs that i have here (special off in Sainsburys, all boxes of eggs 20p a box, so i bought 3 dozen large organic, free range eggs!!!) Think im going to attempt quiche. ive never made one before, but i do love it (my children wont touch it, which is why i dont make it) and it can be frozen, so i will do that in individual portions for my lunches next week. We might all do some baking as well, my 2 and the LO will enjoy that.
I also have an appointment for a blood test today, it might be my last one (may have one on Monday as well, but im hoping to get away with not having that one if i can) while we are out, im going to pop over to Waitrose to get some milk and DSs footie magazine, and might see if there is anything nice to pop into my quiches. Also need some carrots for the stew i need to get on - will be getting that going in the SC before we leave.
I also need to get the BM on (bought some shop bread the other day, it was not good!!!) and i think thats enough to keep me going for a bit!!!
((HUGS)) to anyone who is still feeling poorly.
Hope everyone has a lovely day,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Good morning Catowen - and all who follow! Was just getting worried I'd not be able to post - I've no idea how to start the thread, and I'm soon off to get ready to greet all the little dears returning to school today! Do you know that cartoon where the mother figure is pulling at the bedsheets and saying "You must get up - you do have to go to school...you're the headteacher!" Well, it gets truer by the term, believe me!
Yesterday was agood OS day for me - two lots of HM soup plus a batch of rolls now in freezer - plus the pattern for DH's new nightshirt prepared so I can cut it out this evening.
Downside, the throat, streaming cold and asthma have now combined into a really grotty chest infection, so now back on the antibiotics, and a night of desperately trying to breathe! Good start to the term! Hope you all have a good day - and help yourself to (((HUGS))) if you need one.Resolution:

Morning Catowen, Beemused and all who follow
Feeling utterly depressed today. I don't know how much longer I can stand working at this place. My colleague (who's been made slightly senior to me) is getting so full of herself, that if her head gets much bigger she won't get in the door. The overall boss is still a waste of space. I did two weeks worth of hours in just one week the week before Christmas, and he won't even give me the time back, let alone pay me. I really feel so miserable, I could easily burst into tears. I used to love my work so much but now it feels like a chore. I'm desperately searching for something else, but there's nothing out there for me.
I must get new tyres today as we have a snow warning and now I finally have my car back after a three month wait, I can do what I wanted to do 3 and a half months ago.
This is not a good start to the year personally. Saving wise, doing ok. Topped up my phone with free Boots voucher yesterday (£10 pin money) and saved 20p in Tesco with a voucher, plus I got a £2 coin in change along with a 5p and a penny, all for their individual jars.
Cut up some of the Christmas cards from the office for gift tags for this year and found some stamps for charity.
Sorry for being so down
Hope you're all okComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
morning catowen and bemuzed,
Got up a bit earlier today as I forgot to put the re-cycling out last night, and they come bang on 7, went out there in my jamas, met one of my neighbours putting his out:D , and I tell you its bitter cold out there, really really cold, but no snow which they promised, am in now with heating on and a cuppa.
Catowen, when my DD does not like a particular food, I eat some of it in front of her, don't offer her any, and when she asks what it is I tell her a made up name, for quiche I would suggest savoury pancake ! very often it works and her curiosity gets the better of her, its the sound of things she does not like.
Bemuzed good luck at school today, hope you feel better soon.
At w**k for me today, I must admit i would rather stay at home in the warm, DD and OH are off, lucky things, and are still snoaring in bed.
Got a sainsbugs delivery coming tonight, Pizza, dough balls and salad for tea, its nice to get back to a routine food wise.
Have good days all, off for another cuppa xx
I left OH and DD a lst of jobs yesterday, which they easily achievd, so have left a longer one today, its nice to come home to a clean tidy house, and OH cooked last night :j

Good morning all!
I don't usually post on here but thought i would this morning. I am at work at the moment but will finish in about half an hour and then im off for 3 days Yippie.
Am getting my new leather sofa delivered today just hope the delivery men don't have any problems getting it through the door. Not sure what i'll do if they do???
Im looking after my downs sydrome sister today (shes 24) she has the day off too, so we will be having a nice girly day might take a walk if the sofas get delivered early and its not to bitterly cold. Got to get back in shape after enjoying my christmas food too much!
Am glad it was my last night at work last night for a few days, im finding them more and more difficult as the years go by and im only 27!:oLove a charity shop bargain0 -
Morning all
Back to work for me today, I need to take the car as I have 2 cheques to pay into the bank & it's too far to walk after work.
I need to speak to my boss as my payslip was £17 down after a payrise, but when I got my bank statement in they paid me £50 too much.
The poor lodger is wandering round the house like Eyore, under a cloud of depression, I don't envy her, she cannot cope with the kids at all.someone sent her some books to help her, things like 'God's way to be a Teacher' but TBH I think it will take more than a couple of books, a couple of years teacher training might help!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Everyone
Well up, showered, hair dried, dressed and ready to go. Hopefully I will miss the snow:j :j
Everything which needed to be done is done, the bags are groaning a little but it is bulk more than weight. Our lift just called to say they are 4 miles away, so have to go.
Scuzz - is there no temporary work round your way? Or could you join a union?
Take care in the snow, and wrap up warm.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Good Morning all...isn't it cold! Wish we had snow as the girls have only ever been able to go sledging once and that was last year for one hour.
Anyway, hope everyone who is poorly feels better soon and who ever is down has a good day, hugs to you all.
I've got to go and wake my girls up for school in a moment. Hubby has gone back to work today as well. I'm not back at work until Monday (yipee). I really will miss everyone today and it will seem really quiet in my house.
I have a man coming to fix my dishwasher today (i hope he can as its a real pain) and i need to make soup to freeze ready for work next week. I also need to squeeze oranges and put in empty bottles ready to freeze so i can take one to work each day for my elevensies (i don't drink tea or coffee).
I've got a million other things to do but i bet i end up back on here!
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning All
Scuzz - hope something turns up for you very soon but like Donny-gal said - a union sounds a good idea.
Its freezing here today but no white stuff outside, have turned the heating up while we are getting dressed.
Kids go back today and I may treat myself to a lazy day and enjoy my first day of peace and quiet for ages. Will definately do the ironing though and may pop to Makro first thing as need toilet rolls and laundry supplies. If I go with oh he probably will be tempted by lots of other stuff too, think I will look at the Makro offers online and decide from there.
Pork chops for tea though might make them into pork kebabs to have with onon rice and pitta bread.
Off now for a quick surf then need to make dd's packed lunch.
Have a great day.
