Should itsthelittlethings spend less on coffee?

Yawn. Another early morning. I am super short of cash and have started saying no to social invitations for this month. I have around £70/ week to spend. Should be doable. I know it’s actually quite a lot but it does include food.

Yoga class was so good last night. We did half an hour of exercises and then some lying poses while she talked. Much needed. It was online and I couldn’t see some of her poses but that was ok.Credit card 2395

Glad you enjoyed the yoga class.
Let me know if you find any good French things on NF, I want to immerse myself in the language a bit more to improve."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Tuesday. I had an email from my OU tutor. Hopefully we will speak on the phone just to touch base soon. Need to do the washing up as I left it last night.
Funds are disastrous. Need to spend £1.75 on bread, about £8 on coffees this week, £10 on coffee with a friend on Saturday, £10 on study coffee. £12 on coffees next week, £25 on visiting my mum, £12 on coffee the week after. Thats £80, leaving about £100 for food.
I’m hoping not to use CCs.
My mum offered to lend me some money so instead I’m going to see her which is a cheap weekend and has the advantage that it’s nice to see her. I hope that’s not bad. It only costs her petrol to the station and back and a bit of extra food. Gonna buy my ticket now.Credit card 2395

Have you sat down and wrote a proper be able to stick to it budget?Sorry this may sound harsh but it looks like you really haven’t got to grips with spending at allMFW 2025 #50: £1989.73/£600007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00

Ok, if you insist I will commit to not buying any coffee until I get paid. You never know, might be able to afford a mortgage that way.Credit card 2395

If I can get out of debt I might get a Siamese cat (£600). This will help me to be less lonely.

Well mothers usually believe they know best (mine always did and unfortunately for me she usually was!! ) 😂 but having a really specific goal might help you keep focused and motivated which can be the toughest bit of getting debt free.
I think @MFWannabe's suggestion is a good one to revisit your SOA and see if its still realistic or if there are areas that can be tweaked. I remember when i started I thought budgets were absolutely set in stone but in reality they need tweaking and adjusting (more so in the early days as you begin to realise rhere are things you can actually live without) along the way, and you never know you might find areas where you can cut back or be a bit more flexible.
Ps don't use the CC! I am firm believer in the only way to get rid of the bloodsuckers is to absolutely, never ever use them!!

Got two free vouchers for coffee at work so I am seeing that as a sign my quest not to buy coffee is fated to succeed. I will use one today and one on Friday so the cafe staff don’t notice I have two 🤣 I’m sure I’m allowed two but it will come as no surprise to you that they already think I drink too much coffee.
Was hoping for a no spend day today but something has already gone out of my account. Have just listed five skeins of wool to sell, if I can shift them all I will be up £60 less a little postage which I always put on very slightly cheap to tempt the buyers. Could well do with £60 this month, should probably sell 3 of them if past performance is anything to go by.Was going to list another load but I might use them to make colourwork socks.Credit card 2395

New job is hard but ok. The usual work ups and downs.
Have bought a 2 hour online knitting course for early November. Something to look forward to. I need to actually do some knitting. I have knit group on Saturday.
The knitting class cost £35. It’s in Fairisle which is a technique from Scotland. It’s my favourite kind of knitting apart from a kind of slouchy American/ Canadian style. I like to think I have my own style but I think that’s just beginner 🙂
I am debating clearing out my rag rugging supplies. I did two courses last year and really loved it. This was in the spring though and I just haven’t found the time to do it plus I don’t really have space. Perhaps I could get rid of all the fabric and just keep the tools which are the expensive bit. One for retirement or when I get a two bedroom house (don’t make me laugh). I tend to get all enthusiastic about hobbies and acquire everything I need then not necessarily do them. While we’re about it I could do with chucking out my preserving jars as they are just taking up space in my hall. My pickling hobby was in large part responsible for me developing heartburn and now I can no longer eat pickles I don’t see the point of keeping all the jars in. If I want to make some gifts I can always get a few jars.
Right we are! Giant pile of fabric and bag of pickling jar - to go! Valuable rag rugging tools - to stay!
