NST May 2025: Film fun (+ financials)

Posting now as it's quite possible that I might drift off to sleep again. Tackled 3 stacks of paper in turn. One pile of receipts (grandma's house) to file, one bag for life stuffed with torn up paper, small pile of general stuff to be filed/ kept and found paperwork for bills to be paid. Paid 3 months Council Tax online, found pennies to pay for Ground Rent (£3.75). Took that and put it through neighbour's door. Cancelled plans for going to Community shop and library - walking the 3 houses distance from my front door to neighbour's was painful. Read my book and lay on the couch, stretching and flexing. Dozed for a couple of hours.
Several small bags of rubbish by the back door, one load of washing done, recyclables also in bags by the door. Food has been oddments - half a baguette, a steak bake, a handful of wedges. Will use up pantry oddments (+ 'found' items) and eat simply. I have some options for continuing clearing/ cleaning from where I am, probably sitting with a pack of wipes and another small rubbish bag.
Grateful for getting on with things (including frogs) reading and resting, nibbling the elephant of stuff8 -
Today I am grateful for the end of a busy week of work, for the initial triage nurse at a+e on weds who got me through to the x-ray department quickly, for not having broken my hand in my tussle with 2 sets of tree roots, for having a sense of humour, for a late bday present arriving from step dd1 - gf licorice YUM!!!! 🤤

Work today, busy so that was good - the time seems to pass faster!Did a couple of loads of washing before work, both on quick programmes. Dried outside.OH had done the hoovering downstairs while I was outDinner from freezer - I don't bother with lunch for work. As my colleagues are always fasting / dieting it is easy to give it a miss on work days and save myself a few caloriesWatered all the pots and much of the raised beds. It is hot and dry but with a cold wind if that makes sense. Anyway, it dries everything out.DD2 has borrowed the car till tomorrow afternoon as hers has broken down. Her OH will fix it, but she needed to get the kids to swimming lessons etc tomorrow.Grateful for a busy day at work and OH helping out (cos he lives here too!)4

This has been a not-so-good day so far. Last night the cat wouldn't let me in my own bed. After five minutes of hissing and claws. I slid her over on the duvet so I could get in. This morning, she didn't want to let me out. There is only one way out of the bed as it is in a corner. Finally got up - early as I had to take my two roommates to Disneyland early, come back and pick up other roommate, take her to get breakfast at a fast food place, and then go to the book sale in time to make sure things were moving along and help get book carts in place. Lot of stress and pain in the process - I shouldn't be moving carts according to my doctor - but someone has to. Left for class - knitting and crocheting. Teacher announced that this would be the last class of the semester rather than next week. I was hoping to get more done. I will have to work on my sweater without her help for the next three weeks. Book sale is interesting as we have a lot of people coming in (the library lists an increase of 450 people on book sale day). Got back to the book sale in time to work most of the actual sale (usually miss the first 1/2 hour because of class). That part of my day was good. Got home to work on computer to find I have been shut out of FaceBook which is demanding a selfie - which I don't have as I don't have a cell phone. Will have to have someone else take one, but in the meantime I am sure they did it because of some of the things I have said about President Trump (all bad). Roommate G was supposed to make dinner - which he finally did but only after spending another 2 1/2 hours on the phone texting his "girl friend" that he has only ever communicated with on the phone at the same time saying he would be right in to fix dinner. So we didn't eat until 9 (we hadn't had anything since breakfast except a donut brought in by one of our board members). Not good for a diabetic. One cat is currently having the zoomies and is jumping over the other two cats. Hope he slows down in time for us to go to bed as he will jump on us in bed if he is still running around. Only had 5 hours sleep last night. Will probably only have the same tonight as we won't go to bed until after midnight as I am taking care of another roommate (there are five altogether) who insists on staying up to see the news.
5 gratitudes for the day: 1. Like the people in Knitting class. 2. Many repeat customers for the book sale - some come every month. 3. Weather cooled off so day not bad. 4. Don't have to pick 2 roommates from Disneyland as they are coming home another way - good as I no longer drive after dark. 5. Roommate who got home at 12:30 last night is already in so I don't have to get up and let him in tonight.4 -

((Hugs)) @weenancyinAmerica- you do an awful lot for other people. Remember to take care of you.Went to a fair this morning to buy stock for my sales unit. Spent loads - just got to sell it now.Not a NSD as I had to pop to the supermarket for more compost and a couple of ingredients - I don't count business spends against NSDs, as it is accounted for differently, as required by HMRCDid more potting in the garden (and there is still more to do), watered everything and fed what needed it.OH and I tried a J. Oliver recipe for dinner. A big faff like most of his stuff, but again like most of his recipes, very tasty. Lots of ingredients but I already had most (pak choi and garlic from the garden, other stuff from the freezer etc) and the others were cheapies. It was Vietnamese style chicken wings with a sort of egg fried rice. Very yummy. I now have loads of washing up!6

More slow plodding but with visible progress, just need to not run away screaming from the newly revealed mess. I have mostly cleaned the shower room floor, the shower tray and edge of the unit and the bathroom sink (with wipes and moving them around with my feet), cleared all the stuff on the floor in the front room (had to take some cans out because the small bags weren't wide enough to take the shovel). One 3 drawer filing cabinet has gone back in the kitchen and the couch has moved back towards the window. It's possible that 4 small pieces of furniture will fit in the kitchen + one of their stupid oversized kitchen bins. Many small bags are now in various bins with approx 4 more part filled.
The couch was heavy so I'm going to ignore all the papers and stuff on the floor until tomorrow. All the big boxes of kitchen stuff are now accessible. I finished a book this morning so I've just asked DS3 to bring me the second and third books from the back bedroom - he found them straight away. Laptop will be shut down soon and then reading until I fall asleep.
Grateful for easy food, determined plodding, moving things along (DS3 complained about the filing cabinet blocking his path and was then surprised that it was light enough for him to lift easily)6 -
Hugs to those that need them Ouch @apple_muncher, your hand sounds painful! If I can help with any knitting queries @weenancyinAmerica, just ask.

Stayed at mum's Friday night, we went for a paddle (though had started to get a bit cooler by that point in the evening) & I treated us to an ice cream each.
Yesterday we went shopping in the morning. Heard there were Orca spotted not too far away, so me & DS1 went to look. No sign 😞 but we had an adventure to the beach. Spent the rest of the afternoon gardening. Watched a film together at night with a huge bowl of popcorn.
Cooler today, but dry. Walked 5 miles after breakfast, finished my book, then started to tackle a sewing frog. Unsuccessfully. Will need to ask for help how to sort it... Put it away for another day, did the ironing & listed some things to sell on local pages.
Grateful for fun at the beach, time in the garden, finishing another bookUse it up, wear it out

Not sure that I've ever seen a Bond film the whole way through! 🤣 I like the theme tune to The Living Daylights, as aha are one of my favourite bands 😉
A good day, despite being woken at 6am by a lorry sucking up loose stone chips on a newly resurfaced road! The sun came out this afternoon, so I went for a walk after work.
Pinned a girl into a prom dress (thankfully no net layers!!), then another girl I used to work with 6 years ago, came to pick up trousers I'd listed on FB. Was nice to see them both.
DS3 is having a clear out in his bedroom, so we now have 5 boxes in the living room! I sorted through one box, listed some things to sell & some to donate, so only 4 boxes now. All the audio books have sold & waiting to be collected.
Grateful for butterflies on primroses, catching up with people from my past, items selling quicklyUse it up, wear it out
