Banks with Apps

Can’t see if this has been posted previously so apologies if it has but I’m curious on what each banks offer with their apps?

for example I like my chase app as it notifies me of any transactions, something I never thought I needed until I got it. Now chase are no longer doing their Cashback the way they were my day to day spending has moved to my Santander account and I miss this feature.

anyway can you all give me a brief run down of what bank you use and what the app offers?

I remember a colleague of mine a year or so back left his card at home but was able to go to the cash machine and somehow through the app take some money out, again I have never seen this before and thought it was a great idea.

the ability to create pots etc etc

hopefully we can get a good rundown of what they all have to offer?

You could just visit the banks and BS' websites and have a look at what they offer? E.g., Lloyds (Halifax and BoS apps are the same):

Royal Bank of Scotland, NatWest and Ulster Bank offer cash machine withdrawal without card you just get a code but you have to go to a NatWest Group machine.

Monzo and Starling have the best apps by far with notifications, pots, direct debts showing up before they are taken. Halifax have notifications but they are very poorly implemented and can take over an hour to show up sometimes. Nationwide are hopelessly old fashioned and just have a rudimentary app which is way behind what anyone else offers.

Can also use Tesco ATMs says my app

...presumably a hangover from when RBS Group ran Tesco's banking - bit odd since it's now owned by Barclays.

The cash machine withdrawl at Tesco without having a card, just a code is such a great idea.    It's help my daughter out at uni a couple of times when she's forgotten her purse and is in the middle of town.    I'm very disappointed it hasn't been rolled out to all banks - especially seen as the Government makes a big thing about us still using cash.

You do get some odd looks from people when you walk up to the machine, tap a few numbers and then it gives you money without a card.

RBS (and I assume other NatWest banks) can give transaction alerts:

Would be far easier if the OP puts what they want form their current account and app.

If cashback is a requirement then that will rule out a lot of accounts like Starling which don't offer it.
Is the mentioned ability to use an ATM without the card really a dealbreaker? For most people having Google Pay / Apple Pay etc pretty much negates this as something essential.

But for usability the Nationwide app trounces the likes of Santander, HSBC and Barclays to name but three.

I’m just out of a DMP and still have defaults registered so am not interested for myself right now. I was just interested in what little extras bank apps have nowadays after an early morning memory of my friend getting cash out without his card

I also love the round up feature that came with chase, never was enough to miss the money but cashed out over £200 from that at one point 👍
