Whats wrong with just using Monzo as your main account? That's what I do.0

I have a chase and monzo account for spending, online foreign purchases and holidays but always need a main current account as a base.
Halifax didn't do notifications, despite it being on. They never appeared for me. Requesting a payment was OK but sending money was still old fashioned where you needed their bank details, same with chase. Monzo excels here where you can just send them a link instead. Much easier.
I'd like a main bank account, one of the main High Street banks that is, which has an online banking app fully featured like these online only banks. One as good as monzo perhaps?
100% notifications, easy sending and paying requests ideally not just bank detail methods. Just nice funky apps in general really
Any other perks and bonuses are ofcourse a bonus
You can make a link for people to pay you (up to £500). Has saving pots etc. Honestly feel like they are under rated for high street bank which has all the digital bank features and they frequently are adding new stuff.
Im like you and use Chase & Barclays CC for spending/travel etc. but just use Natwest for salary and stuff.0 -
My mortgage is with Halifax though and my main bank account / salary is all Halifax, has been for yeeears!
Anyone have experience in the same boat as me, would I make any difference at all if I closed my current account with Halifax.. Yet still had a mortgage and an active credit card with them?
I can't really see how it would or could affect anything but id rather know I asked the question first0 -

Their app is quite basic. You can check your balance, make transfers and pay bills, but that's about all. To be fair, that's all many people need, but if you want more you'd be better looking elsewhere.1 -

They have notifications but their app doesn't have all the bells and whistles that you seem to be after.

If you are thinking of cracking it you will need a valid code and know how much that code is for.
I was simply curious to know how long it would take pressing keys randomly until it gave out cash as this is quite a departure from needing to have a token (a cash card) as well as information. I'm neither a thief nor a hacker so I shan't be trying any of this out.0 -
I seem to be the only person who doesn't use a phone app but sticks to using online banking via a desktop. I have even used the Nationwide reader recently as I've been doing a bit of executor work moving some large sums (for me) around. The separation of the functions satisfies my need for security compartmentalization and propensity to lose things! There's been no occasion when there's been the need for a mobile app, although I do have a range of cards and am thinking of a currency prepaid one.0

My mum uses Natwest and she seems to get notifications when making faster payments out from her current account. Can't say about other situations. The following information about FD maybe out of date as until last Thursday I had an older version of the FD app. (I now have the latest version and I have noticed no differences from what I have written below).Notifications are for the current account only and maybe savings accounts. But definitely not a credit card account.Notifications are not instantaneous. They usually arrive hours later. So for example a direct debit might be collected soon after midnight but I will get the notification between 3am and 4am. However the app (or the website) will show the transaction as having completed. In terms of future transactions, it will show planned transactions (DD's, SO's and some planned money coming in, say salary) for the next working day. So from midnight on Friday morning, I will be able to see transactions for the Monday assuming it is a working day.0
