Cheery_Daff said:PennysIntoPounds said:Well done @CrazyBee787, sounds like you're covering a great range of OATs.
And thank you for reminding me that OATs can be outstanding and annoying on a daily to-do list basis too, I've been feeling slightly guilty about not smashing any big things lately, but I have been keeping the OAT faith and tackling the small bits like emails and domestic chores when they occur rather than have them detract from my energy and attention knowing that they're lurking, and that's the point of trying to embrace the OAT mindset isn't it!
KKAs at 15.07.25:

Ooh, an unplanned little OAT for me!
I've been meaning to put up a new shelf in the study - we had the wood, but not the brackets, ordered the brackets but then we ended up using the wood at Mr C's dad's house 🙄 Went to the DIY shop, but couldn't agree the right wood size 😂
Finally measured the existing shelves and wrote down the dimensions. Also remembered a shelving unit in the living room I'd been eyeing up for a corner of the study - it barely had anything on it, so I've just dragged it down to the study while the kettle was boiling 😂 Stuck a plant on top, and a few books on the shelves, and I think it will go very nicely 😊
We get so caught up in wanting things perfect sometimes, that we wait to be able to do the right thing - and in the meantime live with complete chaos, sometimes for YEARS. There are so many examples of this in my house 🙈 I want a set of shelves for shoes, Mr C doesn't think it will look nice through the window, so for 7 years that space has had a jumble of bin bags, stuff for the tip etc, and the shoes have been scattered randomly about the place.
No more - small scale temporary solutions as a starting point, even if they're not the ultimate thing you're aiming for!
(Of course, we could always just figure out the permanent solution more quickly... but that kind of thinking is what got us in this mess!) 😂😂5 -
Cheery - just order a shoe rack online and get it done. If Mr Cheery doesn't like it he can come up with a better solution first. Forget what it looks like through the window and think about what it's like to live with.
Builders have been round today and taken away a long list of small jobs that they're going to do next Wednesday and Thursday. And I now have an afternoon off to try to get through some of my long list of garden jobs.

Aw that sounds lovely @Cheery_Daff, well done.
Who's going to be staring through the window at your shoes?! Sorting that space will be so satisfying, if you were nearby I'd come and do it!
Excellent work @greenbee
My dreaded financial to-do list took seconds as there wasn't a significantly better interest rate that was worth the faff, and I have to wait for a couple of notice-only pots to become available to do the next bit, but at least I'd previously remembered to give notice!
On the daily OATs, there was a book and a jigsaw I'd found on the street that needed a quick wipe, so they got a quick wipe rather than sitting resentfully in the hallway for weeks

Mr Redo built me a boot cupboard to replace the previous open air shoe rack for the same reason Cheery, it also took many years from the decision to delivery. Boxing them in can be a problem though (in this damp house anyway) so it has to have one of those water gathering thingies in, and I don't put walking boots away until they are dry.
I started doing the 'put things away' routine at night when the boys were little. It has slipped a bit over the years but still means I always fill the DW in the evening so I don't come down to a mess, same as a quick wipe round the bathroom while my bath is running. I need to get back into 15 minutes of putting things away every night as well then I might not have a dining table of doom (again!). I see that there is a thing of 'house reset' videos now, made me laugh.
Anyway, the big bin and the extra recycling bins will be collected tomorrow so a last push today to fill the last few corners generated by jumping in all of the bins. Sorted through several shelves of books as well and identified lots for rehoming. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Ha, my shoe shelf was just a daft example - in reality that space is weirdly awkward and hard to get in, and probably the best use for it is actually Mr C's drum kit! 😂 but we do need to do something about shoes, and mops, and, and, and...

I filled in a form I had been putting off and went to post it and collected my prescription afterwards. Tomorrow I have to scrub the patio with vinegar and finish my current book.7

Mops/brooms/cleaning stuff - bit of batten on the wall and some hooks and clips will at least keep them flat against the wall. Find a space for a shoe rack and get one set up. Do the things that will make your life easier.
Neighbours have visited as they'll be replacing some fence panels (one at a time, and very slowly - I hope they remember to tell me when they are doing them so I can keep Puffin in, and they remember to keep their dog in so it doesn't come over to terrorise the cats).
Am weeding. Hypericum is running through a bed that runs the length of the garden, so I'm digging it out. I will then plant all my bare root stuff plus the geranium from my mum in there, and get the hose and sprinkler set up on it ready for this evening as everything will need a good soak.5 -
One of my completed tasks was to "produce" and post off my bowel screening kit - posted last Monday, letter received yesterday saying all ok. Didn't realise I would feel so glad to know that everything is ok.
