My OAT's at the moment:
- Put the old house on the market (chase the cleaners for a date/look at estate agent email when it comes)
- Unpack and put away the bags of previously frozen cloth (clothes moths)
- Clear and tidy my craft room so it's useable
- Sell the stuff I need to sell
- Start planting seeds and set up the planter for plants arriving end of April
- Set up the herb garden (a small area of unclaimed lawn down the side of our house)
- Sew the bags to keep silver stuff in (which has been promised since last November)
Think that will do for now.
Also managed to sort out annoying techy work problems so I don't have to keep 2 laptops open just to view my emails (TL:DR), fixed a game on my Xbox which was refusing to load and booked the doctors appointment they kept nagging me about.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

The bits have arrived for the greenhouse waterbutt, so I'm aiming to get that fitted today. I'm aware that it is highly likely to be more fiddly and time-consuming than I would like it to be, so that's the only OAT I'm aiming to get done today.
I did get up early, so have had the sprinkler on the west-facing border where I did all the planting, and moved it a couple of times. I'm about to turn it off, as between last night and this morning everything should have had a good soaking. Friday is tree and hedge watering day too, so I'll get the ones on the west side done shortly, and leave the ones of the east and south until this evening.3 -
Two OATs for me today, although I'm only part way through both.
I've got an old metal bistro table that was going rusty, been meaning to spray paint it for ages. We threw a cloth over it for visitors last week but today I found half a can of white spray paint so that's been sanded and had a first coat, and Mr C (who is out and about) has been charged with finding some more for a second coat. I might do the chairs too - two of them matched the original green of this table, and the other two (which are white like the other table) are going rusty in patches.
It's not perfect, but it'll look better than this...
Second OAT came about from decluttering the bathroom drawers the other day. I found a roll of bath sealant tape I bought in a charity shop last year for £1.50. Our whole bathroom needs doing, but it won't be getting done any time soon, and in the meantime the sealant has split and water sprays down the back of the bath. So I'll be replacing it with this 😂😂
Utterly ridiculous, but the whole bathroom is utterly ridiculous (witness the green emulsion on the right painted over, and flaking off, those grim tiles on the left).
Anyway, I'm too hot outside, and someone's spraying slurry 🤢 so I'm going to peg the washing out and see if I can do the sealant before I stop for dinner 😊4 -
@Cheery_Daff what a fabulous view xx1

I've been thinking ..... we are all doing really well with our OATs and gardens are being tackled, finances re-organised, household tasks getting done so I wondered if by the end of the month we should aim to tick off an OAT for our own health and well being?
it could be a practical task like booking the dentist (I'm typing this after my dentist trip with a numb mouth and am probably dribbling but can't feel it) or it could be a overdue treat to ourselves like painting our nails or whatever will make us feel good. I'm going to shave my legs cos the sun is out and I don't need the winter layer anymore. 😉
anyone else got a TOT to do? (Treat Outstanding Task)6 -
Getting frustrated by the water harvesting systems... the gutter end for the greenhouse is fine. The clip for the downpipe needs a hole drilling for a bolt, but do to that you need to remove part of the trim... which seems to be impossible without taking the whole thing apart. However, the diameter of the downpipe is also larger than the diameter of the pre-drilled hole in the waterbutt. I don't trust myself to enlarge the hole safely. So this needs to wait until I have competent help.
For the IBCs, the lids fit, the filters fit, but I can't see how the elbow fits on it, nor how I'd connect it to the downpipe diverter. So I need to look at some other options. I was hoping to get at least ONE of them set up before there is rain. I guess I'll have to look at the small shed and see whether I can at least get that butt set up!5 -
That's a nice idea @Blackcats, maybe at the end of the month we could reward ourselves with a TOT. I have a freebie hair mask that has been sitting in the cupboard for ages1
