Not proper OATs done, but have managed to get my hair cut and make two batches for eating and freezing this weekend (mushroom, Brazil nut loaf and veggie bolognese with blitzed walnuts) 😊

Started cleaning the patio, so part of it has now had a first go with the pressure washer and is already looking better. Soggy moss and dirt has gone into the compost.

Definitely quit while you're ahead - well done on finding the curtain pole. Maybe you can get Mr C to put the other pole up as well?

I'm half way through doing my soil tests - I've had the kit for over a year, so something else off the list and when I've finished them I can throw the kit out (and order another one for next year, hoping to see an improvement!).

I've also ordered a stand and an elbow for the small shed waterbutt, and a 30m hose to go on the empty hose reel. I've found a 50m hose and 50m tape measure, so need to make a decision on those (need them, but I'm trying to give up amazon).

What are you aiming to do to your soil and how are you doing it @greenbee

No OATs from me today but I have been continuing in the spirit of OAT and picked up a small food bundle from olio instead of thinking 'no I don't have time', and was extra rewarded by finding on the street a tray of small plant pots which are perfect for my intention of taking some cuttings to car boot sale.

List for tomorrow written, and it includes two OATs- arranging a meeting with mortgage broker and doing the intimidating and boring admin for possible invigilator role

Partly I'm going to bear the results in mind when planting, otherwise I'm going to (theoretically!) make more of an effort to mulch and maybe make some nettle/comfrey tea for watering. I'll also use whatever chemical plant food I have lurking (but try to avoid buying more). If I can cycle more of the compost through the hotbin, I should be able to generate more mulch.

I might buy some blood, fish & bone if I come across any. And once the veg plot is fenced I'll also add some chicken and farmyard manure in there - not doing it on the main beds as the dog may find it too interesting!).

I picked up some in Home Bargains this week, and had seen it in the supermarket so you may find some Greenbee. I hate to say it but I did spot big bags on Amazon earlier.

I've been having a gentle few days but DS1 and I did manage to get both old sofas onto the drive ready for collection tomorrow.

    Hello lovelies!
I thought I'd jump on to shout about 2 big OATs I've done this weekend. Especially because I was having a quiet weekend with no pressure to get anything done.
I pulled a few years worth of nettle roots out of my tortoise enclosure! It was hell on my hands but it was very satisfying.
I also dug a load of mud out of a drain on my patio that had been clogged for years. I have mostly unblocked it, enough to make a difference hopefully with the upcoming rain. I think there might be some debris down there, but that can be a job for another day (or year).
A little OAT was finally finishing painting the trellis in my garden. The clematis has been growing in all this sunshine so it was a battle to get it done quickly and before the weather changed.
All in all quite a lovely weekend!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend too.
