Thank you, I've just submitted my NI number.

I'm not a business seller but this makes me wonder if they suspect I am running a business.  :/
Not at all. It just makes it easier for HMRC to allocate the online sales notifications from websites  to the correct person .

For hmrc purposes it is income. It may include profit, which could be taxable.

Not if it’s private sales it isn’t.

I was getting eBay Simple Delivery packages collected from my house, but today when I went to arrange collection they are now charging 30p per package.

Yours is the 2nd mention I’ve seen about that today. If my internet holds out, and I’m currently away, I’ll check the RM website to see if the charges are being implemented again. I wasn’t aware of any change though

EDIT, yes it seems the 30p charge per item is back. When I log into Rm click and drop it says

    Arrange a collection

    Just 30p or less

I missed any announcement about that, but in fairness I rarely use RM click and drop now,

I can't find an announcement, it is a bit bizarre reintroducing it on Thursday without warning, I arranged for a collection yesterday and when I booked it on Tuesday there was no charge.   They had better come and collect it tomorrow after paying a fee, on average they miss 2 collections a week that I have to rebook.

It’s the 1st May today so that’s probably the reason the charge was re introduced after the free collection offer finally came to an end. It does seem though to have come in unannounced.

it’s now being discussed on several forums, plus the eBay community boards and applies to all collected items, whether the label is SD or click and drop. It’s a shame , but not unexpected, and I was a useful service for the days I couldn’t get out for any reason to drop them off myself.

Interesting, so how is RM going to collect all these 30ps? Assuming postage has already been paid by SD, are they seriously going to process payments for 30p, or does it reach back to eBay? Is that 30p per collection or per item?

Seems like another disconnected system (appreciating these are completely independent companies here though). Nonetheless, I can see sellers increasing item prices to offset surcharges, packaging, eBay overcharging.

As an aside, IIRC there was a drop-off charge to a PO by RM, so is there now no way to get proof of postage without a surcharge, i.e. can only use a post box, assuming item fits?

No one will be surprised to learn eBay CS has no clue about any of this and provides misleading information...

    Those are today's musings.

I would have thought it easy to collect. Seller uses the tracking detail to book a collection on the RM site and that flags up a request to pay the 30p. Seller pays 30p to Rm for every package they request collection for. The collection system was always chargeable when first introduced and at one point was 72p , then a special free offer was introduced.

There never has been a charge for dropping off standard parcels at a PO ,except for RM48 or RM24 when first introduced, and nothing to suggest that dropping off parcels at a PO to get a receipt has changed to chargeable at all. Have you perhaps seen something to guest that the POs are charging for eBay SD parcels (which use RM48) as I haven’t seen this mentioned at all.

Interestingly, on Vinted  their integrated RM labels never allowed for collection at all, one might hypothesise that they were future planning for this becoming potentially chargeable again. That caused a great deal of upset on the Vinted forums as many people relied on collection if they were unable to get out of the house at all, in fact a lot of house bound sellers said they were being forced to move to eBay as they could no longer sell on Vinted with no collection options at all.
