eBay simple delivery (merged)

If an auction ended over £100 even today I would be choosing a higher postage rate even if I’d listed as basic LL to cover the extra risk. More to the point would be if it went to £10.50 say…..soolin said:
There is absolutely no clarity around that scenario at the moment, I might even go as far as suggest even eBay don’t know the answer.se2020 said:
How will this work with auctions that start low then end up over £100?soolin said:These are the postage rates for SD. It’s worth noting that the postage goes up if one of the options is disabled.
I can see buyers complaining if the postage price increases after they place a bid that takes it over £100!My only thought would be that if they bid less than £100 then postage would be set for the lower price, but if they bid over £100 then the highest cost would be shown , if it ended up over £100 then obviously the buyer would have entered a bid of over £100 even if at the time of bidding the price hadn’t reached anywhere near that.
however, that seems a bit flakey, but being eBay, that’s what they will do.

That claim of a discount confused me as well, but the small parcel rate for tracked postage is cheaper than RM online up to 1kg but dearer after 1kg. I suppsoe though that headline chepaer rate is Evri - I have some labels to print out so I can check later.RedImp_2 said:
I could have sworn in the comms it said postage is up to 20% cheaper but these are higher than available to normal punters.soolin said:These are the postage rates for SD. It’s worth noting that the postage goes up if one of the options is disabled.
EDIT- Just printed some labels, all my £2.70 items are with Evri. So it looks like ebay stating it is 20% cheaper is wrong, the RM prices are considerably dearer than the prices I get when using RM online.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I seem to be unable to get a postage band between 2kg - 10Kg so the cost jumps from from £3.71 to £7.19 0 -
That seems right for this scheme. I had a couple of very large and heavy books left to sell, it looks like they will be going straight to the charity shop now as postage is more expensive than the books- so really not worth bothering to list.Purple_Jumper said:

There is still a lot of talk about the sub £10 items being exempt and several people on forums have now posted chat transcripts from eBay confirming there will be some exemptions. Several mention items need to be ‘envelope’ size but say they can’t clarify whether that means just LL size.
Apparently we can expect a further announcement in the next few days which will clarify the exemption .I suspect eBay are still trying to work out how to work this and are scrabbling around trying to understand what a large letter is, and whether the limit includes the buyer premium and postage, or not.As of late this afternoon I am still listing a few LL items under £10 and NOT even getting the option of simple delivery.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Comparing the average Simple Delivery and non-Simple Delivery buyer postage label cost savings data on eBay from Oct 2024 to March 2025.
Of course for the average to be 20 percent cheaper some must be more than 20 percent cheaper to counteract those which are less than 20 percent!0 -

For some reason the phrase, 'and we have a winner,' springs to mind! Feels pretty shady. Anti-competitive may not be accurate but it has that whiff.RedImp_2 said:I could have sworn in the comms it said postage is up to 20% cheaper but these are higher than available to normal punters.

Not even being offered it on more than half the things I've listed in the last 2 days. I decided to list some LL items today and not one of them offered me the opportunity to use simple postage. I then tried relisting a parcel size item, and that didn't offer me SD either, but when I listed a second parcel size item I was offered SD.savergrant said:

As I mentioned back in the thread, I ended and re listed some of my private listings last night, I used the sell similar option rather than a straight relist. I woke up to a small flurry of sales this morning and have sold a few things during the day- this is after a very slow couple of weeks, so I am quite pleased. So far all of the parcel sized ones I listed with SD which have sold the buyers have opted for Evri.
There is a strange pattern to this, almost like I was being 'rewarded' somehow with sales by ebay for opting to voluntarily use SD. I could almost see a conspiracy theory emerging but am trying to avoid tin hat time.
EDIT as I was typing this, I just sold another item - which probably means I've sold as much today as I have in the past week or more combined. It's probably just that it is pay day for many people, but it is strange.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
