Woohoo! Congrats @doingitanyway on not only being debt free but having the start of an emergency fund too!! You fabulous woman you!!
Love @Tresinia511 take on the emergency fund being a "yes" fund!
July 2024 £12,150 Aug 2025 B/Card £6,300, N/West £1,770, Halifax £1,182, Klarna £568, Sports Trip £335, Very £122 & HMRC GONE!!!! Total £10,2763 -
Thank you @Skint_yet_Again @OpalGirl @honeybee1234 @beanielou @Sunshine_girl2 @Sun_Addict @mark55man @jwil @teapot2 @amber03 @rachmac3 @biggerpickle @Tresinia511 nice to have your recognition and support
@biggerpicklelike you I like @Tresinia511 s post seeing an emergency fund as a YES fund. Yes, I will do the repair. Yes, I can book a train to be there. Yes, yes, yesI am aiming for 3k fund.
So, yesterday was one of those perfect days. So glad I went, so glad I have membership and can go back whenever I want. I think it will come into its own in the dark winter months. A real tonic! Fares come in at £10 or £15 depending on venue and route
I had an early morning walk to marksies...They YS throughout the day with the lowest reductions at the start of the day. I'm fine with less of a reduction, a greater range, and no competition! There were a tray of 4 salmon fillets reduced from £10 to £5 so I now have a couple of trays in the freezer along with other quality protein
Another lovely treat coming up as the friend who stayed last week bought me a ticket for the National Theatre. Nye with Martin Sheen. I am glad I have enough money to say yes as it will cost the train fare plus travel in London. It should be excellent. Plus, I will stay with a relative overnight and can catch up with some family members I miss...
I will have to be organised as new international guests arrive the day I am back. My plan is to get the rooms ready over the weekend and buy a few veggie boxes and batch cook a beef and lentil ragu sauce that I can use for several dishes and also a tagine that is happy to be frozen https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/spiced_vegetable_tagine_32956
Planning ahead to make my guest meals easy...Any economical, tasty meal suggestions gratefully received- meat night (bolognese, shepherds pie, sausages)
- egg night (omelettes, tortilla)
- fish night (salmon pasta dish/stuffed peppers with anchovies)
- rice night (risotto: peas, greens, rice and beans)
- soup night (with cheese and bread)
- burger night. (chickpea, beef, turkey, or beetroot and red bean)
- salad night. (tuna nicoise https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/saladenicoise_6572

Meals sound lovely!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

Thanks @jwil and @Tresinia511
Thanks @Sun_Addict I will look her up
Been to yoga and back for soup I prepped before I left. Soup will be the first meal of the day. Yesterday I ate very poorly so trying to pull it back on track. Salmon and roasted veggies later.
I picked some nuts and herbs on the way back.
Fly tipping has happened behind my homeI can't see if the things are heavy....
This week I joined a litter picking group. I can't recall who suggested this? I haven't been out with the group but, I am equipped out with a picker, bags, gloves and even a high vis jacket! So, I can use what I have to clear it. I am worried how close to my home the people who dumped it were. There is a local ironmonger. I like his work but he is pricey. I am going to see if he can make me some railings and a gate. This is more important than my beloved woodturner...which will have to wait...
I am treating myself to a film today. Then, seeing a friend for a walk.
Annoyed about the fly tipping, but it isn't the end of the world. I am going to try a new angle on getting it gated. I will see if a local community safety officer will work with me to get the alley gated... Anyway, I will let it go for nowso I can enjoy the film.
Happy Sunday!
