You don't sound at all entitled, it is very tiring indeed always having to think about money, but then I don't know that if we were horribly rich we wouldn't be the same- they say the horribly rich are rich because they never spend owt, and that's no way to live either. We'll get to our financially contented upper middle ground, and the work will have been worth it.
And we'll still find ourselves draped in finery getting our bits in from pricier places going 'how much?! Do I look like I was born yesterday? Disgraceful' 😁
It has been a lovely mse Christmas gift that you are back posting, and I hope you have a wonderful day filled with blessings of all kinds tomorrow xhttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase/p1

Being MSE can be time consuming and hard work. I hope you had a relaxing day"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

The housecoat may come up again at some stage. I’d been after a pair of sparkly Skechers and couldn’t justify spending £80 on them, they never came up on offer anywhere. Anyway a pair almost identical came up on QVC of all places at half the price so I snapped them up. Sometimes it pays to wait.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

I got a fabulous floor length dressing gown that is seriously warm from big river for £20. Not quite so luxurious but a good option.
Hope you enjoyed your Christmas3 -
I feel like I've missed a post! What happened with the housecoat?4

Thanks for 'getting it' @PennysIntoPounds and for being funny!

Thanks @liselle and @redofromstart it may well turn up as returned gift
Thanks @jwil and @WelshmansDaughter
@Tresinia511 the housecoat sold out!
The upside about where I live is also the downside. I live in a street that has footfall so I am constantly clearing rubbish from the front of my house. This morning it is pipe covering so obviously dumped by a business. I also clear cigarette butts and even poo from my doorstep despite not having a dog! Luckily I am part of a keep tidy group so I can dispose of it. I'm wondering whether a ring door bell might be required to act as a deterrent? Not how I want to live really...hey ho...
Well Christmas is over. Christmas Day was a damp squib. Yesterday I had the friends who looked after my house whilst I was away, for dinner last night so that was nice.
Struggled to get up (that'll be the wine last night!) but I made a lovely veg curry. Happy for some simple food!
Re dressing-gown-gate the same company has another one on sale. It is lighter so isn't selling out so it might be reduced further, in which case I will pounce!
I am in reflective mode, but maybe that it what happens when going away for a while and seeing my situation at home with newish eyes
I hope you have all had a good-enough Christmas

Sometimes just the sticker that says this place is under CCTV is sufficient. Or a pretend security camera. I have also seen people write notes to say this doorstep is private property please don't use it as an ashtray3

Rubbish and cigarette butts can be the wind but dog poo is bang out of order. Take pics of the pipe covering and send it to council or put it on fixmystreet, in my experience councils respond faster when other people can see there's an issue reported.
You seemed to have a good rapport with local councillor before if I remember correctly? Maybe ask for their thoughts on what could be done by you and by the council to help prevent flytipping and irresponsible dog poo issues?https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase/p1
