You’ve had a couple of great bargains there.I sold some unwanted gold items a few years ago and got back more than I’d paid for them originally. Always worth doing.I’m pleased to read you’re sorting out some income streams, hope everything goes well 🤞I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Just a heads up about buying things to sell online, that it will be classed by HMRC as business selling. Money from selling your own possessions isn’t taxed, proceeds from trading are and online platforms have to report to HMRC if someone makes over a certain number/value(?) of salesdoingitanyway said:
Thank you PiP. I hadn't thought of that. It is an excellent idea and suits me as it utilises the things I like to do. Funnily enough I saw a lovely long piece of vintage Sanderson fabric. It wasn't too my taste re pattern but I thought someone would love it and it was a bargain price. Just looked up vintage Sanderson and yes, I could have sold that on. Interesting...PennysIntoPounds said:Yay, you did the gold selling! That's a great amount, definitely chippie tea earnt for when you fancy it 🥂
Well done on the productivity, and the difficult calls. Amazing bargain finds.
I know you don't like doing listings, I'm much the same, but you seem to have a great eye and good bargains available near you, could another income stream be buying say one thing a month then selling it online for a wee bit extra?
Have a lovely time with your friend 😊
Yes, looking forward to friend's visit

I once spotted a small length of Liberty fabric in a CS. Bought it for about 50p & sold it for around £8 if I remember right. Also made a good profit on Highland Stoneware cups & saucers.doingitanyway said:

Highland Stoneware so expensive new - over £30 for a mug. Lovely though and very collectible, I've never seen it in a CS, would be straight in there😃. I had a look round one of their workshops and seconds outlets in the summer.1

You need to complete self assessment form to declare profits from £1000 in a tax year.jackieblack said:

Indeed. But all platforms like eBay, Vinted etc are required to share sales data with HMRC if sellers exceed certain thresholds. For example, with Vinted it’s 30 sales.PennysIntoPounds said:

Thanks everyone

I'm unlikely to be a concern to HMRC. As @PennysIntoPounds suggested, it will only be the an item or two a month...
So a busy but lovely weekend.
Yesterday was a fireworks show on the beach and really wonderful.
Today, yoga, a coffee treat with a brownie in a lovely cafe this morning. (There was a well known comedian in the cafe. My friend noticed him. I concentrated on ignoring him so he could enjoy this coffee in peace.) Then I saw a film. All very good. Friend has gone now. I put a stew in the slow cooker so will have that later
Ex friend sent a few stressy messages. Visiting friend did not appreciate ex friend's behaviour, so refused request to take back her item saying she should collect it herself, which she is now going to do. Will be glad when it is gone and contact can be stopped altogether.
I had a migraine for a few days. I have managed it, but it was draining. Still sore toe so walking to and from the fireworks show was difficult. Glad I did it and battled through everything to enjoy my weekend
I am still on target not to be overdrawn, spend on CC, or steal from savings
I will be having a NSD tomorrow. Heavy rain is scheduled and the house is a mess so having a cleaning, decluttering day.
My next task is to set up Minted. This is on tomorrow's list. I have already chosen a few items and taken photos of a few items to start with.

Dia boo to ex friend and her messages. The online world is equal in benefits and problems i find, at one time she wouldn't have had such easy access to your time, but now with our mobiles, we are available all day every day, for good or bad! What's wrong with your toe?3

That sounds a lovely time, well done on soldiering through so you could enjoy events and your friend.
Good also that friend is so unimpressed with ex friend she's unwilling to do her the favour of returning her item. Annoying that you'll have to sort it but quite right to your friend for not making ex friends life more convenient!
If I remember correctly you also still have other items of ex friends? So better for her to collect all at once anyway if so
Excellent mse-ing, you'll be well pleased when you get to the end of the month having not increased or created any debt 🍻
Minted will be so handy for you once you're up and running, even if things only sell for a couple of quid, it quickly adds up to being able to get your essentials for the week in or treat yourself to a little something. DM if you have any queries, or put it on the Mellow Fruitfulness thread where Minted often features as things we did not want to do but did 💪
Hope you enjoyed your slow cooker stew, have a lovely hunkering down and enjoying showing house love day tomorrow 😊https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase
