I am trying to go to the supermarket once a week at the weekend and do one shop a week. It’s working ok so far.1

Went to the supermarket year as I am away this weekend. Did a weekly shop, as I am clearing out the freezer this week the cost of the shop came to £25! Was pleased with this. I also bought two bags of decaf coffee from the food pot when I got home, £27. Ouch. Nice coffee is one of my luxuries but I might have to see if I can cut back to supermarket. £80 left in the food pot for the rest of the month.
Had a letter come through regarding a regular saver I opened when I got paid. That has got £200 in it now so just need to keep up the saving habit.
Away this weekend doing a course. Accommodation is booked and paid for, will try and have a cheap meal on Saturday night as that’s the only major spend.
Took some boots back that I didn’t like yesterday which is £75 back in the budget so I’m pleased about that. Payday seems a long way away at the moment though.1 -
Having a having a lovely weekend in London. I’m enjoying my craft course and my airbnb is quiet and clean. The host was out until after I went to bed last night so I checked in and relaxed with no awkwardness about being in someone else’s space.1

I have had such a lovely weekend. I went to university in London and lived there for a year after and love it. I was looking at flats this morning and I think I might be able to afford to move to London if I really save for a bit and get a job paying a bit more. It’s certainly a big motivation to save. I would need to get a mortgage so would probably get a job in London, commute for a bit and then look to sell my flat and buy with a mortgage. It would be quite a big undertaking but it would be worth it I think. I would buy in zones 4-6 so outer London but I think it would still make me a lot happier. A lot to think about.1 -
Back to a quiet life after a busy month. Have had a quiet day at work and a quiet evening. Bought a coffee at lunchtime but no other spending today. Have a quiet weekend planned too.0

How far away are you from retirement? Have you checked your state pension forecast?0

I’m 46, think I will probably have to work until state pension age. I have checked my forecast, all years full and on track for full state pension.[Deleted User] said:How far away are you from retirement? Have you checked your state pension forecast?2 -
I do need to overpay on my pension but contributions haven’t started from my new job yet. I’ll put them up when I see how much the normal contributions are.
Having a quiet weekend this weekend. Just in Starbucks enjoying a quiet moment and a latte (£4.50!) before I go to Asda. Am sticking pretty well to just going to the supermarket once a week. I am meeting up with my knitting group this afternoon.2 -
I didn’t start paying in to a pension until I was thirty and I had two part time jobs and only one of them had a pension until I was nearly forty. Since then I’ve had full time jobs with pensions.2
