Thanks Lurky, but you do realise that you mustn't eat rice the next day don't you, espesh with my dodgy belly at the moment
Try again
Never had a problem myself
Isn't it just re-heating it that causes, errr... problems?
How about similar veggies, but with pasta mixed with mayonnaise and maybe a splash of wholegrain mustard. Not too much obviously as a five year old might possibly not go a bundle on it, but enough to give it a bit of flavour
or can't you eat that the following day eitherNeigh, neigh, and thrice neigh

I've just been reading through the thread (at work, ironically), and wondered if I could join in. This is a fantastic idea, and generally I'm quite good about bringing in my own lunch, but if I go out in the evening, sometimes I don't feel like making sandwiches, so this would help me be disciplined.
I love Bobbadog's idea of dried noodles, handful of frozen veg and a shake of soy sauce, - you make it sound easy!Overpay!0 -
Ok, so if there's any of you around....I need some inspirational idea for lunch tomorrow, summat exciting! I need to make for me and DS (5yrs) as well. Please help
A fave of mine is some flavoured cous cous with chopped up smoked sausage... i prefer it hot but would be nice cold too?
Or you could add a bit of un-mayo'd tinned tuna.... or chicken or whatever... baby sausages for the little un?I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
That sounds nice bobbadog, might give that a go myself.0

As long as you keep it chilled once it's cooled down it's fine, I believe reheating can be a problem if you don't get it hot enough. I've eaten loads of cold rice, both homemade and takeaway leftovers and never been ill from it.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

......... I got myself all confused just then. I usually go to the last page and then there were loads of posts so I just had to go back a page and read what you were all talking about (pinnochio-like). :hello:
Well, another morning of leaving DS (jo1972 thank you for the absolution) whilst DH slept from the nightshift.
On speaking with him this morning (me at work, DS in the kitchen) he decided to punch down the pizza dough for tonight's tea. Anyway, he casually mentioned how he had "lit the big purple candle" I nearly DIED!!
I stayed as calm as I could and told him in no uncertain terms that he must NEVER do that again. At ten he's honing his pyromaniac skills!
Right to lunch then. ..
