A busy day yesterday and a pretty frantic week altogether (with 2 days hardly able to walk). Ordering food to take with me to DS2's was difficult -SM needed 5 days notice and for me to pick it up, wasn't sure if some things would arrive (cakes came this morning but a few bits only arrived on Friday), Community cafe was only doing hot food, some things ordered in a small grocery shop didn't come buffet man didn't get back to me and I had to phone again on Friday (at that point I was ready to cry).
Yesterday I was going over the small couch trying to find small bits of presents and trying to reduce what was on the large couch so that I could put the buffet food down to pick out what I was taking (my original choice wasn't available and the second option was more complicated but didn't seem to have the fruit platter - therefore did small grocery order to cover that).
Called DS3 downstairs to wait for buffet food (coming 12.15-12.30pm) whilst I went to the Community cafe to collect the hot food. They had no hot food - the cook had walked out on them the day before. They said they'd do what they could if I would wait but when she saw me looking anxiously down the street and I explained the cold buffet food was due to be delivered she said she'd bring it over. Van was parked outside my house so I just piled the food on my walker outside and took bags outside to pack (I'd already packed presents, books, non-alcoholic wine, 2 fuschia plants and Easter craft supplies). Gave DS3 some items to put in the kitchen (whole plate of pasties as he likes them, I left him the white bread sandwiches too).
DS2 was due at 1 pm. I sat outside on my walker with my book and a drink. Went back in and checked the laptop - he set off at 10 to. Calmed down, checked what I could, all 6 bags by the front door, hot food not arrived-decided if DS2 arrived first I'd tell them to keep my money as a donation and give the food to some of the other customers. Food arrived - they gave me a box of chocolates and a box of brownies as an apology. Put the hot food in the kitchen (told DS3 but I think he had gone to sleep)
DS2 arrived -lots of jams and temporary lights. Asked if we could take my walker- yes (we planned to take GD1 to the park after I'd seen the baby). Started packing the bags. DS2 started giving me things back -I just put them down on the couch.
Good travel except the way he wanted to go to avoid one of the jams had a diversion and we basically did a huge square going round past my house again. Arrived, distributed cards, some food, some presents (DS2 kept pulling things out of bags and looking at me instead of giving me the bags so I could take things out in my planned order). Brief pause as the little one was hungry and getting fretful. We sat down to eat in series. Mum was feeding baby so GD1 and both grandmas, when baby was finished mum sat and her mum took the baby.
Then I was given presents and cards. GD1 very happy with her superhero cape and mask (especially when DS2 made her fly past the mirror). It was drizzling so we decided to give the park a miss. I read lots of books then GD 1 and I sat under the garden umbrella planting the wildflowers I had been given into a trough. She didn't want me to go home. Far fewer bags to take back - I said if there was anything they wouldn't use it could go back with me. Mum and other grandma still have the cream tea to have today.
Collapsed at home on the couch with drinks and a tray of mini buns. Also ate some of the chocolates. Slept lots. Had shower etc. Brought the tray of pasties back with me and I've just started on the white bread sandwiches.(there's a little pot of melon and grapes somewhere). Wrote the April challenge and think I might ignore all that needs doing and just sloth for a while.
Grateful for grand-daughters, for buffet leftovers (hot food to follow),for finding a comfortable position for my back.10 -
@abundant1972 take care - and as for the NSDs, I lose track every single month!I am feeling a bit headachey today, but have had a lovely lunch with DS and DiL. Saw GS2 and his partner too, which was a surprise. Called in the DD2's on the way home, as she had asked us to, and we literally pass the end of her road. Little GS3 had chosen me some flower seeds and made me a beautiful card, depicting him and me in the garden surrounded by extremely tall flowersI sowed some carrot and lettuce seeds this morning before we went out, and OH helped me cover that part of the garden with netting to keep off the birds and squirrels.Tomorrow we are going to visit DD1, mainly to give her eldest (my GD2 - I think!) her 18th birthday gift. Her birthday was a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't want to send her present through the post.We had our first nice spring day today, warm enough not to have to wear a coat outside. I have lots of gardening to do so I hope this headache disappears!7

Today has been a barefoot and shorts day. Loved it! Dh and I built the new garden storage/shed thingy, and I had a chance to empty the previous storage box thingy which swelled and leaked from day 1. I ended up laying all the contents on a tarp by the patio doors, so they could have a chance to dry out - cycling accessories mostly. Dh will need to go through them at some point. We've also ordered some outdoors paint for the new build, cos I don't trust that it's watertight.Laundry got laundered. Pip had a friend over. The aerial dh put up yesterday is still in place - it has to be on a 2m pole cos of where we are. And we had roast chicken and chips for tea. Lush🤣NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!6

Up earlier than expected. Fed the cats. It is raining here. Canceled my therapy appointment, will go again after I go to the Pain Management Clinic this afternoon. Bus picking me up. Last time he did it was pouring rain. Hope it is only light rain this time. In the meantime, have done my laundry. Gotten some of the trash ready to go out later. Swept part of the living room (pain makes me do it in spurts). Am about to make myself a pot of tea. I am making myself a clearer list of what I need to do today. Panic is on there too I think. Wished my brother in law Happy Birthday. They are off traveling somewhere. He will have to wait until we get together for Easter to get his presents. Hope everyone is having a good day.7

Another NSD, might be @#13/14. Have done better other months, but had a few birthdays close together.
Had some bad news on Saturday, but a lovely day on Sunday. What made the boys gifts more special to me, was that they'd chosen & bought them themselves for the first time ❤️
Today I was up early, despite DS3 not being here to wake up. Got lots done before work. Work went ok, then I walked half a mile each way to deliver a big bag of sewing. Unpicked a zip when I got home, then replaced it after tea.
Grateful for my family & friends, good health & it's nearly the holidays.
Thanks for this month's thread. I'll be more in the ball in April & post more regularly. Shiver me timbers! ☠️⛵ (Closest I could get to pirate emojis!)Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃
