NST March 25: Scooby Doo!

The main 'work' I've done this week has been moving small filled tubs of soil from one side of the garden to the other. Six raspberry canes planted so far, nearly all the 50 l tubs have been emptied and the ones with broken edges have been stomped on. However as the week has progressed my ankle and back have deteriorated - yesterday was hard. Today even with my ankle strapped up, I can only put weight on my left foot if I use both arms to support me.
The weight of tasks not completed is oppressive, I'm not even motivated to do paperwork tasks I could possibly do. I feel stuck in the house. Apart from one visit to the library, I've only been as far as the bins for four weeks.
Mr Builder wasn't here today but the man who was fitting the door on the bathroom was. By the time he had finished, it was too late to go to the community shop. I've been trying to get there for weeks - they've had all sorts of good offers and buying food the way I am (small 'keeping going' orders) is costing me a fortune. Tomorrow Mr and Mrs Builder are both here - doing more paneling. They've been very good and done their best not to inconvenience me, indeed a working sink and the shower room now working fully have already improved my life (except my nailbrush and razor are still upstairs and I really really don't want to go up there now).
It's just lack of privacy, being squashed in a small space with half my things in boxes and a load of stuff still to be organised. I'm bored and fed up and frustrated that my body is stopping me doing things. I realised this morning that my hair probably isn't going to get properly cut this month - I think that's 4 months. I have medical appointments that have been on hold for months too.
It will get better. The work is nearly done. I managed to wash my hair today.
Grateful for lovely weather, the internet (I'm not going to starve, even if it's costing more), not having a mirror in the bathroom yet (I suspect my hair looks a mess but I can't see it and as long as it's not in my eyes I don't care)10 -
I have had a lovely morning. Went to the local park, looked at the daffodils and grape hyacinth 🪻 then downloaded the free Merlin app that tells you which of the shouty birds are which, gives you a mug shot of said shouty bird, and highlights it when it shouts. Good cheap tweety fun and it feels like you have learnt something.
Lots of people out and about now it feels more Springy. Only 5k at a slow strole, but a little bit of outsideness. Looked in 2 charity bookstores. Rebuffed DHs suggestions of coffee and cake.
Went with peanuts 🥜 to catch a squirrel, but they were too cautious this morning. Lots of birds though. We were not the only squirrel feeders either!
DH's mood is low, so a £1 book, a wren and a nuthatch, and a bit of vitD should do him some good. End of teaching term for him this week , so his marking has started = too much desk time and being annoyed 😒
Will do a bit of batch cooking this weekend. It is still home cooked even if it is defrosted and reheated and feels like cheating. I have to remember that. Cook once, eat twice.
Happy weekend turtle friends!

Lovely to see the spring flowers at last!I moved a pond today, just a wee one in an old sink.It was heavy though! It was on a raised bed and full of dead plants. No creatures were in residence - I looked very carefully, so I emptied it out, salvaged an iris that had started to grow (and composted the dead plants), and moved it to a new spot at ground level, where I had previously removed dead lavender and cut back unruly sage. When I had moved it, I filled in the hole in the raised bed and planted some pansies and bacopa that had been in troughs outside the back door. It all looks much better now, and nothing spent.I have a bigger pond (though still not actually big in pond terms, it is half of a very large wine barrel) to sort out too, but that must wait for another day - I will need to buy more gravel, rocks and plants for that one.I have also made scones and a cake, entertained grandchildren, washed up about a dozen times, sorted out seedlings and done a long dog walk. Probably other things as well..It was lovely to work in the garden without a coat - first time this year. I got quite warm digging the new hole for the pond and filling in the old one!9

Good morning
It’s a dull and drizzly here, but not to cold. The central heating is now only on morning and evening to take the chill off.I’m at work today, still tired and coldy but feeling much better than I was. I’ve got off lightly compared to DS2, OH and DIL, they are all still quite poorly. I’ve today and tomorrow and then 2 days off so I’ll veg out then and try to shake it off.Now the wedding is over life is quite dull, so I’m concentrating on saving money and getting as much paid off as I can before the balance of the June hol needs paying next month. Next month is also quite heavy birthday wise.
Anyway I better get on
Have a lovely Sunday

Damp & drizzly here today, but it's DH's birthday, so we wrapped up & we t for a 5 mile walk. Noticed folk were carrying things into the community centre, which reminded me there was a car boot sale on. Had to pick up DS3 from hus bus, do nipped into the sale & had a quick look round. Bought a craft book for £1 & was given another book for free. (Knew the lady behind the stall).
Cleaned the bathroom, made a trifle (DS1's birthday Wed, so will make a cake for that). Sat hand sewing all afternoon. Just the sleeves & good to line now 😊
Had a family film night & did some knitting.
Grateful for going for a walk, not being very tempted at the car boot, a nice evening with most of my boysUse it up, wear it out

Yesterday was a quiet domestic day - washing went out on the line, mask was cleaned, washing up rounded up and put in clean water, a few trips to the bins.
Today I woke early then dozed off multiple times. Mr Builder had arrived so I asked if I could just brush my teeth before he got started. I struggled getting across the floor then went dizzy when I got to the bathroom. Went straight back to the couch afterwards. The man came to discuss building up the back wall. Mr Builder was sent more jobs by Mrs Builder and was glad to go because he's been working on cladding the window wall and there are multiple pipes running alongside the boiler and across the top near the ceiling. He's put up wooden supports so the pipes will be covered but the cladding needed cutting into awkward shapes. He'll be back tomorrow.
I ate and then had another nap and not much has been done since (rubbish and two lots of cans put into bags, more teeth brushing and wiping up.
Grateful for easy food, time to rest and some progress.11 -

Mr Builder didn't come yesterday as the parts he needed were not in stock. I was quite glad of this as I did not feel great. He isn't here yet today and I'd be quite happy to potter alone again. I have lots to do (if my body will co-operate). I've been spending money to compensate for lack of time. I had bought a 'super hero' cape on line for my grand-daughter. I was going to use stick on letters and then sew them in place to make it a 'super big sister' cape. However as the new baby came 4 weeks early, I'm out of time so I've ordered a 'big sister' card with a badge and then another star with a flash one to attach to the cape.
I was trying to do an online food order on Monday night and gave up as the amount was mounting and I wasn't any where near done. I'm going to break it down and order in bits. I want cheeses for the new mother (I asked my son last time what she liked as when you're breast feeding you get really hungry and need things you can grab quickly and eat at the same time you are feeding the baby). The scones I ordered are in the fridge (it was easier to buy an 'afternoon tea' with scones, jam, clotted cream, macaroons and tea bags rather than trying to look them up individually on a SM website, as well as them being neatly packaged in a box rather than putting separate items loose in a bag.
I looked up local caterers yesterday. One I like as we've used it before (they recently celebrated their 50th anniversary). One is fairly new (5 years trading) but looks good and I can have an option with sandwiches, little pasties and a fruit platter (was on my ideal list). So need to contact them today (now I've found my purse)and do a SM order for cheeses, crackers and good bread and will order celery carrots etc which I will chop up myself. 'Normal' food can wait until next week. I hope the 'party food' is enough for myself and son's family to eat on Saturday and Sunday and longer.
Still have lots of cards to write, presents to wrap and notes to other people to tell them about the birth. Mr Builder has arrived and I just found my second welly - lots to go to the bins but I could only find 3 single pieces of footwear.
Grateful for everything - finding things, nearly having another full bin bag, gettting clothes hung up - just normal stuff or 'every day is a challenge' stuff.9
