Thanks everyone, just had a bit cry and now feel better for putting it "out there" so to speak. I feel like I have let everyone down by hiding it when I know that you are all fabulous.

OH keeps asking how we are doing with the mortgage overpayments and I just say we are a bit behind but should get on track, how can I honestly tell him that I have put our family in debt again.

I will tell him though, when the bill comes in this month so I can face the ugly truth and come clean.

Thankfully I have saved up enough to cover our spending money so the CC spending can stop right now.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

If its any small consolation I seem to be spending money at the mo like its going out of fashion,
If I also gave in to DSs many many demands for money I would be increasing my OD by a giant amount & not decreasing is slowly.
    Oh the joys:rotfl:

    Oh the joys:rotfl:

I know I am too soft with the boys, DS2 in particular as he always seems to "need" stuff for his drum kit, it seems to be never ending.

I think that we have everything for the hols now apart from a couple of really cheap Tshirts for OH, we have had to spend a fortune on new clothes for him with the recent weight loss. He literally had nothing at all that fitted him.

I have been presented with a slight chance of increasing my salary by applying for a re-grading of my post as I am carrying out duties which are beyond my pay scale although in the past most people have been unsucessful.

I guess its worth a shot though? trouble is if you are refused you cant put in for it again for another 12 months but my line manager is 100% behind me so I might have a better chance perhaps?

It would give me an extra £1000 a year on my salary if sucessful then further £1000 increases for the next 4 years till I reach the top of that scale.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

Go for the regrading especially as your line manager is behind you.
    Good vibes your way.

OK, so I have sat and sorted out all of our banking..........its not pretty but at least I have a starting point.

Basically we have just enough money to last the month and thats it, no mortgage overpayment (except for the standard included in the DD) but I can afford to pay about £300 off the credit card, which is thankfully interest free until October. I think that we owe about £1700 but I will wait for the bill to come in.

Our next wages will go in when we are on holiday so at least we wont be spending any of that for the first 8 days of August.

Also had a total meltdown at DS2 this morning over a bottle of pop of all things, he wanted some money for a bottle of Oasis for when he came out of school so I suggested he took some juice from the house in a water bottle. He refused so I lost the plot:o

Really had a rant at him about all sorts poor bairn. We are all going to have to play our part though otherwise the mortgage free life will slip futher and further away.

I have also been so worried about OH's job as things are really bad at the moment and the last 3 months he hasnt had a full salary due to 4 day working weeks, this month seems OK but next month looks bad again.

I have written my letter today regarding the re-grading so we shall see what happens there.

As my evening classes are now finished I am having to go into work every day.........grrr. At least it keeps me away from the shops I suppose.

I have a small grocery list of essential things (bread/milk stuff for packed lunches etc) so I am giving Asda a wide berth and heading to Aldi after work which is what I used to do but my recent bout of lazyness means that Asda or Tesco can be done in one visit so I have been doing that:o

Spends for today are limited to
OH - money for coffee at work £1.25
DS'2 Bus fare to drum lesson £3.50
    Groceries (around £15)

Apart from bus fares for weds/thurs for DS and OH's coffee at work I dont think anything else needs to be bought.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.
