OS Daily Thread 2nd January 2008

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 2/1/08. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread
after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning everyone,

I didn't manage to post yesterday. Every time I came on I was called away to work. :) We slept in this morning. Didn't get up until 8.30am. Oh well that's what holiday's are for.;) DH still been working on upstairs and it's coming along nicely. We hoped to go in to get more materials today but OS needed to use the car as he had to work. DD arriving back tomorrow some time.

I worked on my household manual that I've had on the go for about 18 months. :o It's one of those projects I listed to do for 2008. I'm just to go outside in the garden to do some work. Been cooped up inside for most of the day. I get stir crazy being inside all the time. I rang up our relatives from Scotland that we stayed with last night. Caught up with all the gossip. :D Aunty J broke her arm on Friday. She sat down on a chair, meant to put her elbow on the arm rest and miscalculated. She fell heavily on that arm to the floor and broke it. She was sober. ;)

Well I've done my good deed for the day in starting the daily. :D Hope you all have a lovely day and welcome to the new ones. Byeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Morning Aussielass....you feeling a wee bit shy today?

    Five minutes later.........

Ooooo, there you are back to your usual chirpy self! Thought you'd run out of things to say - now that would leave us all speechless!!

Is anyone else glad that Christmas and New Year are over? Normality will, fingers Xed, will start to return today.

I've been seriously neglecting Old Style recently, mostly due to having a new telly to watch. You'd almost think there were decent programs to watch, but the offerings this holiday season weren't really worth getting too excited about. Anyway, big hello to all new persons about the Old Style bus, and a big cuddly Happy New Year to absolutely everyone.

    Bye for now.

Morning Aussie/Snowy and all who follow/cross.

Woken up here around 5 am with DH twitching every few minutes in his sleep  it was either get up or kill him! Decided on the former.

Started the packing yesterday, but tiredness took over and gave in around 8 pm. Need for DH to find me the larger size bag I asked for in the first place when he puts the Xmas Decs up in the loft later. Not a weight problem, but taking some jumpers with me for the cooler evenings/early mornings and they are bulky.

Right off to grab some brekky and get a wiggle on.

    Take care all

    Good morning everyone,

Snowy - glad to see you again!!!

Well, today im back at work, but only have the one LO here, so not to stressfull, especially as my 2 are still home (they go back on Monday) so they will (hopefully) be extra help. Especially as ive just overslept, so i know i wont get all i want to do on the computer done before he gets here, so if they help i should get it done earlyish.

Nothing much planned tody, do need to have a stroll to the PO to post a package but thats the only thing needed. If i get chance, i think i should really start getting my books up straight, i know the tax year doesnt end until April, but ive done hardly anything since last April, so loads to catch up with.

All the Christmas decs are now away, and i was able to do a big clean yesterday where the decs had been, so feeling very smug now i have a nice clean house. Do have loads of washing to do, i read someone on here said it was unlucky to do washing on New Years day, as you can wash your luck away, so i didnt do any so need to catch up today.

OK, enough drivel, hope anyone feeling poorly will soon be feeling better, and hope everyone has a lovely day.
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Morning :hello:

I have a big pile of post to go through (for work), until I open it I can't plan my day. Sometimes there's loads and it just needs filing, sometimes there's just a couple of things but I have to actually do some work with them - don't much like the latter, I'm not in the mood today :D

Annie, thanks for the mistletoe advice :T

I'm definitely going to go through my paperwork today, shred old bills etc, get the ironing done and clean out the animals. Depending on work, I also want to take pics of stuff for ebay and sort through my wardrobe.

Morning all - not a great start to the day. I'm on holiday this week but my plans have been scuppered. I got up at 3.00 to do laundry and was intending to get the 5.50 train to the gym, but the engineering works have overrun and I refuse to fight my way onto the tube on a day off. So I'm sat here doing genealogy and folding laundry. Meanwhile DH didn't go to sleep till gone 4am so he won't surface before lunchtime, and today we were supposed to be going to buy bookshelves but that won't happen now. So I'm not entirely happy.

Today is supposed to be blitz the kitchen day, but DH has booked us to go to friends at 4pm without my consent, so I think I might just chill for the rest of the day and kick off again tomorrow. I can never relax if I know I've got to be somewhere later. He can make lunch today as penance.

    Good Morning All

Yes Snowy - I like the feeling of getting back to normal - kids go back tomorrow thats when I will really feel normal!

Lots to do today, need to do some invoicing and book keeping though that shouldnt take long. I also need to route around in the freezer to get something for dinner today and see what else we have so can meal plan - dont want to be doing any major shopping till after we come back from holiday.

Having hallway carpet fitted today which I am looking forward to. The kids have been pestering me to take them back to the ice skating rink which I think I will as it is the last day of their holiday, we will go after lunch I think if the carpet has been done by then.

No ironing to be done!! But I am washing so there will be some later, getting used to my new iron.

    Thats it for now
    Have a great day.
