Just switched my gas as standing charge was 30% cheaper & rate was lowest ive seen recently.

    * They accept gas only customers
    * £25 exit fee to move to another internal tariff
    * 13 month fix

My electricity is with Tomato so taking a punt they both pull through the winter!

Their website is appalling no faq's and no info on anything of relevance and only contact via email

Also when I choose electricity the ev tariff shows as unavailable which makes it no good for me, the gas is cheap I can save around £120 compared to Octopus but how do you switch gas only, on the quote section it asks for both electricity and gas tariff choices
Just leave the Electricity tariff section blank to just move Gas.

Email contact was quick for me. Answered all my questions.

Looking at the Fuse 13m now, not on MSECEC.  Saving £116 pa on my current Eon Oct fix (now at day 47) which has been almost impossible to beat up to now, their current cheapest offering is +£121 +£102 (edit Eon have just updated their rates), they did come close a couple of months back but no gold star.  Not the absolute cheapest out there but the only other option is OFTM at £22 less who don't float my boat. MVDD suits me fine as that is how I already pay.

I've gone for it (gas) seems to good to be true as saving £115 on gas compared to Octopus which was already cheap, on smets2 so they already appear to have all the information required

Staying with octopus for the electricity, it seems fuse only allows for 5 hours ev charging per night, octopus intelligent go allows the ev to be fully charged irrespective of length of time taken and all other appliances/usage is also the same rate of 7p simultaneously

They've just cancelled my switch as they have the wrong meter number associated with my address.  It's correct on Octopus however.  So now need Octopus to update my meter details (Octopus swapped meter in 2024) & reapply when its done.

Nothing is ever straightforward when Octopus is involved...

Switched to Fuse V3 last night online they contacted me this morning to say I can only switch to their new v4 tariff which is more expensive! Changing rates during a switch is sharp practice. Avoid.

Have been with OFTM (or Outfox Energy as they are now) for almost 12 months. Have found them very efficient. On the few occasions I have required information have neem quickly connected to webchat and had the issue dealt with very quickly and efficiently. I know some people have had problems following the website and app upgrade but for me everything has worked fine all along. Have just switched, free of exit fees, within Outfox, to their latest 2 year fixed rate Aug25 v3.0 tariff.

Can somebody clarify some things for me?

At the moment I have a fixed direct debit, which is deliberately set lower than my usage, so my credit balance slowly reduces.  This is intentional on my part.  If I transfer my credit with EDF to Fuse Energy by making a one-off payment so my account with them is in credit, will they also allow me to have a direct debit set lower than my usage so my credit slowly reduces?

Is the direct variable or fixed? Can I choose to have a fixed direct debit if they put me on a variable direct debit?

Can I choose my direct debit date? When I asked Fuse Energy about this, they said that the date can't be changed, however I will be invoiced on the second working day of each month, with payment debited from my account 3-5 days later.  Their reply almost implies that my direct will be variable and it certainly implies that I can't choose the direct debit date - something I've never heard of before!

I can confirm that Fuse use the variable DD method.  I have no idea if you can transfer EDF credit to Fuse.  The variable system suits me fine, rather any excess funds are in my bank account than theirs.  Be interesting to know how much money belonging to clients these utility companies hold onto.  Bet its substantial.

I did a price comparison on Cheap Energy Club yesterday and one of the suggestions was "Fuse Energy August 2025 Fixed (15m) v1". I then went onto the Fuse website and that suggested the cheapest was "Aug Single Rate Fixed (13m) v2". I had another look on the Fuse website today and it's now "Aug Single Rate Fixed (13m) v4"!

I guess the price is increases with each new version? It still works out cheaper than the fixed tariff I'm on at the moment with Octopus so I signed up. Fuse reckon it will only take a couple of days to transfer and there's nothing else I need to do so it seems pretty straightforward so far.

I think there's a 14 day cooling off period with Fuse so I guess if the v5, v6, v7, etc. tariffs are slightly cheaper than the one I've signed up for then I can switch without penalty.
