Well we are considering switching to Fuse and I have been reading a few threads here and other places, but unfortunately what seemed positive to start with (that was posts from 2024) have turned into off-putting stuff from recent months.
We are currently dual-fuel, but we only use the gas for a hob. We switched to a heat pump (from a gas boiler) 18 months ago, but we like our dual-fuel cooker so much, we decided to keep it and just pay the £10 a month for the privilege, rather than having the gas plugged and buying an electric hobbed cooker (we never liked those - prefer the better control of gas hobs) and have to pay £125 to EDF for ending the gas supply contract early (bluddy cheek).
Reading these last couple of pages of posts makes me think that if we did switch from EDF we should best have the gas tapped at the same time. That's EDF who have been taking far too much from us since we were moved to them by Ofgem 2 years ago such that we now - at the end of winter - have a credit of over £400 and rising and our tariff is ending and they want to add £22 to our monthly payments for a new tariff (or £27 for a 2 year tariff or standard variable).
Another issue we have with EDF is making our switching more difficult by massively overstating our yearly gas usage. Thankfully, gocompare allowed me to to edit it manually to be more accurate - but Uswitch didn't. So it's very difficult to get accurate estimates of our bills by any potential future suppliers.
Fuse yea or nae seems to be a double-edged sword all on its own. Still likely to be cheaper, mind - shown as £20+ a month less than EDF right now (or £40 less on the new EDF tariff) - but the prices will only keep going up as the oil 'crisis' worsens. Bad time to run out of tariff…

I thought I could never give up my gas hob but went with induction as we were having the heat pump installed. I am so glad I changed. Induction reacts as fast as gas and a quick wipe after cooking and it's all clean. It only heats the base of the pan, so no heat lost up the sides like gas. No standing charge to pay and I'm not burning fossil fuel. What's not to like?

Ah, thanks very much for that - I was planning to do some research on current hobs and best types etc, but that gives me a good place to start.

I had a new gas hob fitted a couple of years ago. Was going to induction until I realised that I would need a new supply run into the kitchen. Wasn't economical in any sense.

I'm now in the position where I'm being told again that I won't see hourly gas usage for previous days on their graph. The Fuse bot has given me a detailed explanation of why this isn't the case. The human support is now going to have to escalate it as they don't understand/believe that I should be seeing hourly use detailed for previous days, after a 1h.30m chat session. Also I have to keep sending them screenshots as they clearly can't see the info the system shows me. It's quite frustrating and a lottery as to whether you speak to someone who seems like they know what they are doing.

Read my post earlier today, they are not passing on government fuel cost reduction to existing customers, so that probably tells you all what you need to know

A question, what date to Outfox do their billing cycle.i joined 8/3/26 and have paid 1 months DD.
With Octopus I was 21st month billing date.
I know different company but thought I would ask.

I can't see your previous post but this is the info I've seen - costs will go down but not as much as the bigger companies:
For Fuse:
Will the reduction apply to ALL tariffs, including existing fixes? YES
Does this firm currently pay the approx. £62/yr ECO scheme costs? NO
some smaller companies were exempt from the ‘ECO’ scheme so the reduction on their fixes will be smaller (as they weren't on it, so scrapping it doesn't change anything there).
So it seems their prices were cheaper as a result of the above, but also means they obviously won't fall as much as we weren't paying that extra amount in the first place. On CheapEnergyClub the figures shown were, for large companies 7-9% expected price drop, for Fuse and other smaller companies a 3-5% drop is expected.

Just received an Outfox email confirming the new rates from Apr 1st for my 2 year fixed deal ending 2027. So they definitely are passing on the government reductions to existing fixed customers.
