    gone in network control panel/network connections/wireless/properties/ can't see tcpip

    will it be easier to connect if I get the cable? I can get one tomorrow (today)

    there should be a scrollable window with internet protocol/tcpip in at the bottom.

    you can sometimes get leads from pound shops

    ok, I've got a box 'internet protocol (TCP/IP) properties - there''s only a general tab. I can type something in preferred dns server.

    ps, will DD ever be able to configure back at uni?

    isn't there an advanced button, bottom right? if the dns is blank, set it to 192.168.1.1

    we haven't changed anything yet, so it should work at uni

    yes, I'm losingthe ability to see! clicked it and dns says I need at least one ip address.

    Andy, i see u r getting there. i did guess something to do with DNS. but i have limited knowledge on those topics. Albert is the right person. he is fantastic. All the best. Hope it works. Good night!!!

    I've put it in gateway but the only other box is ip address. DNS won't open, just get the message.

    Will I be able to connect using cable without changing anything?

    Do you want to get the lead and try it, it should just work, but it is picking up that 192.168.8.100 address from somewhere, so not sure what will happen

    you might have to do a

    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew

    to pickup an ip address

    the ipconfig /all should be similar to the one on the working pc, but the ip address will be different.

    I'll get the lead and do the cleaner thing, can I make sure the site I download is OK? Will you be on here tomorrow albertross?

    what will the release, renew do?

    Can I be sure she can still get on at uni? I think a kind soul helped her initially, don't know if they are still around!
