when sending with Royal Mail do we have to use Tracked 24 or Tracked 48 in order to get paid  upon delivery or can we continue to use signed for and small parcel service that provides a reference number. Until now i was using Royal Mail standard parcel service which gave a reference number i could enter into eBays tracking number field when item was dispatched. Will that still be sufficient? or will using standard parcel services or signed for continue the 14 day hold of funds even if item is delivered? Apologies if this has already been covered but i couldn't find it.

As per the announcement and the first post you don't even need tracking, items are deemed delivered after 14 days unless tracking shows an earlier delivery.

Incidentally, even if tracking was needed then signed for would have been OK, although of course signed for is now a very poor service, no extra compensation at all and no 'full' tracking.

If that number is enough for ebay to issue a green tick when it's delivered then you will get paid two days after the tick. But I'm not sure a 'reference number' is the same as a tracking number.

apologies, I realise in some of my posts I used the wrong terminology. All ebay need is proof of delivery- and if you use ebay labels even standard parcels and Large letters show delivery in about 90% of the time. I was wrong to use the term tracking when I meant proof of delivery.

Even with RM or PO labels standard parcels have a delivery code, and I noticed that my large letters for non ebay sales when I buy online from RM also have a delivery code now. Basically then it's just LLs paid for at the PO and letters generally that have no delivery code.

Has anyone noticed slower sales since the change? It could be a coincidence, but I've barely sold anything compared to the same time last year.

Mine seem fairly steady but I don't really think I can compare year on year as what I've found in cupboards to sell this year is vastly different to what I sold last year. My private sales though really have no pattern, sometimes I find things (or my adult children allow me to sell their things they left when they moved out) that are popular and sell well, other times I'm trying to sell things I've sorted out that no one wants.

I also moved a lot of things across to Vinted so that rather affects what I see in my ebay sales. However considering this is all unwanted stuff, I am rather pleased at the amount of sales and the money generated for stuff that has just been cluttering up my house.

Just an update as I know a lot of people were panicking about waiting 'weeks' for their money.

I sent something on the 12th as a standard 2nd class large letter @£1.55 , it shows as delivered when I open the 'tracking' and in my balance it shows  "Pending – in eBay balance 16 Feb" . So that will be 4 days in total - which is a lot faster than most other sites I use and I don't think unreasonable. I do still have other things, including 2 RM48 items not yet showing as delivered , so will see how they go.

Interestingly, I have 2 other LLs sent at same time that also show as delivered but haven't made it to an update in my balance as yet.

It looks as though I will wait two weeks for payment because I use RM48 but via RM and not via Ebay.  Their underlying message is to use their system or wait 14 days.  Ah well!  I sell a lot of knitting patterns and these aren`t tracked so I will have to wait a fortnight for payment too.

For your RM48 items You just add the delivery confirmation number to your ebay sales when you post - there is no requirement to use ebay postage.

My further update is that I now have quite a few pending payment on the 16th , having sent them Tuesday as LL @£1.55 , strangely though my RM48 and my standard parcel sent on the 12th and delivered today  show as payable on the 15th, so not even 48 hours. Knowing ebay it's an error and will be corrected, but that would mean a mere 3 day wait .

My point is that @girlchops is being given a reference number when posting the item and is entering that as the tracking number on eBay. I'm not sure ebay will be able to tell when the item has been delivered from that.
