I made it through the week! Let's hope next week is a little calmer. It's half term so that usually means fewer meetings for me. I'm hoping to catch up on some work admin, and having enough energy left in the evenings to do some useful stuff at home.
I've been overpaying my loan a little for a few months. I contacted them this evening (FD) to ask if or when the interest would be recalculated. They said it won't until it's repaid and then they'll work out if they need to refund me any. That's disappointing, I was hoping that seeing the numbers reduce would give me motivation. I've done some calculations on an online overpayment calculator, but it's not quite the same as it won't take into account the odd extra payments I make of differing amounts. I might just ask them again in a few months, see if I get a different answer. Surely I should be able to find out how much I actually owe? Even if they only recalculate once a year.
I got an Indian takeaway meal for two from Sainsbury's for £6.50 so that was my tea tonight and tomorrow. Quite a bargain for a treat meal/takeaway substitute.
Happy weekend everyone!Debts 04/01/25 01/11/25

That does seem odd, maybe if you asked for an up to date statement of what is owed considering OPs they'd be able to produce that every month or few months?
Enjoy your treat meal bargain 🥂https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase

Yeah PIP, I think I will make a mental note to ask again in a couple of months. I've not really overpaid much yet, but in a few months it will make enough of a difference for me to feel more motivated to insist they recalculate.Debts 04/01/25 01/11/25

That is odd? Maybe they didn’t quite understand. Go back and specifically ask for a settlement figure as though you want to pay it all now?Save £12k in 2025 #32Make £2025 in 2025 #28

Ah! Why didn't I think of that @1stTimer ? I could just ask for a settlement figure once or twice a year! That could work.

I'm trying my s.a.d light this morning for the first time. I already have a lumi clock for winter, but anything that might improve my energy levels is worth a try (they're bad enough in summer 😂).
Then I need to decide which things on my impossibly long list I'll try and get done today. A month of getting over covid and trying to get back to and catch up on work hasn't helped all the other areas of my life.
I really need to leave the house and do something though. I've gone a bit stir crazy from a month of going nowhere and seeing no one (unless work related) to conserve energy and recover.
I'll drop my first box of books off for WOB to the local shop. A teenager works there on weekends and she's good with the tech side of things.
I think I'll go through my freezer too and declutter anything too old, and make a plan for what's still ok to eat. There's not much left in there and I'd like to do a big restock on payday.
All the animals (pets) were exercised/ bathed/cleaned yesterday so that's less to have to do today.

I have been a bit spendy today. Actually I've been a bit spendy lately, lots of little things to cheer me up. I bought a new hoe because I broke mine today (niwaki but so worth it), and my trip out took me to ikea. I only wanted some plant pots for my newly greened bathroom. I only spent £22 which I think is pretty good for ikea. I got 2 cushion covers, 6 plant pots, a spoon rest, food bags, and some new wooden spoons/spatulas.
I decluttered the freezer, there's about half a drawer of food to use up this week.
Did the WoB box drop off.
I'm going to do an hour or two of work now because tomorrow is very busy and I need to do some prep (my brain works better in the evening), but if I've got any energy left after that I'll do a bit more housework and decluttering.Debts 04/01/25 01/11/25
