when i do sell an item, i prefer to send parcels from my local post office. will ebay force me to send parcels through a random postal company? or if i can still use royal mail, will i be made to buy RM postage through ebay and then print out the labels at home? (seems like a lot of hassle + there is times when i have no printer ink).
thanksThere have been some changes around this where you can order your postage on ebay which you can pay with your pending balance. Then you can take that to your post office and they print a label for you. Unfortunately they don't seem to support the option for home pick up where they also bring the label but perhaps not every courier offers that service.actually taking and paying at the post office is usually more expensive (except for a basic letter aga)Making you a single courier would be like only being able to use IE to browse the internet.0 -
I would also think that if Evri prove to be unreliable and ebay pick up too many hits on lost items, then they might rethink offering it entirely. This happened to me recently with Evri. Waited 2 weeks and they refunded me. Just shows as stuck at the depot.
Annoying.

However there is a link stating what eBay are doing with simple delivery and what private sellers should expect:-
https://www.valueaddedresource.net/ebay-simple-delivery-managed-shipping/
"eBay is ramping the rollout of Simple Delivery by making it the default shipping option in the listing form for most private sellers, though currently sellers can still choose to opt out when creating a listing. However, that opt out choice will be removed sometime in Q1 2025 as eBay plans to make Simple Delivery (also sometimes referred to as Managed Shipping) mandatory for private sellers on all eligible items - though an exact date has not yet been set.
That news wasn't announced directly to sellers, but rather dropped into the Q3 2024 earnings call with CEO Jamie Iannone explaining to investors how Managed Shipping will be phased in to boost the company's revenue."

So I would rather throw my parcel under a bus ! then let EVRi deliver it ! - They are shocking and eBay is pro- EVRi because they are DIRT CHEAP !
So as I said before in an earlier post, the main reason why I have now stopped selling on eBay is because I do not like or trust their managed delivery program and resent it being forced on me, just like they forced everyone to have to accept managed payments if they wanted to continue selling on eBay which was just a smart trick to take full control of sellers sales money and INVEST IT ! for a short time before returning it to it's rightful owner.0 -

If ebay get too greedy there is nothing to stop people completing their sale outside of ebay.0

I see nothing to suggest that a non UK buyer from a private seller wouldn’t also, pay the fee, where did you see this please?
My bad. I was probably confusing buyers with sellers.I think you are probably right in that all buyers pay for buyer protection on all products from UK listed private sellers.Am I right in thinking that buyer protection fees do not apply to ebay business accounts?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. In a statement eBay clarified this issue: "To confirm, for items from business sellers and non-UK private sellers, buyers get the Buyer Protection benefits at no extra cost. This means that listings by business sellers will not have the Buyer Protection fee added."
Looking at the German site it states:Gebühren für private Verkäufer
which translates asFees for private sellers
You can create 320 listings each month with no listing fee. A fee of EUR 0.50 will be charged for all offers created after this monthly quota has been exhausted.
So why is it that for non-UK private sellers, buyers get the Buyer Protection benefits at no extra cost? Is this due to UK legislation, simply that ebay does not like UK private sellers or some other reason? We are not Germany, France won’t be operating the same as eBay com, they are all different.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Are we simply ahead of the curve and the others will follow? If not perhaps it is this specific to the UK for some particular reason.I would genuinely like to know as it clearly does not seem like a level playing field or fair to me now.0
