i'm a bit confused. i've read ebay is going to make it mandatory for sellers to buy postage through ebay?..
when i do sell an item, i prefer to send parcels from my local post office. will ebay force me to send parcels through a random postal company? or if i can still use royal mail, will i be made to buy RM postage through ebay and then print out the labels at home? (seems like a lot of hassle + there is times when i have no printer ink).
thanks0 -
There is no official announcement of the date this is applying or what the scheme will exactly look like. However the trial allowed sellers to opt out entirely or opt out of using a courier.messia07 said:i'm a bit confused. i've read ebay is going to make it mandatory for sellers to buy postage through ebay?..

Hi I have been selling for over 11 years and have now canceled my account this is absolutely ridiculous fortunately I have switched at selling on Amazon after taking the plunge and so far so good at least you get paid within three days and are not ripped off by buyers in general

Also I sold two items and it was saying i have towait for two weeks until I get paid once there is confirmation of delivery they're going to seriously lose a lot of sellers with this nonsense

As above the 14 days hold is for anything without delivery confirmation, if you use eBay labels even LLs and standard parcels supposedly have proof of delivery. Admittedly I find it isn’t 100% in my experience, but the majority of my LLs and parcels will be paid out much quicker.cb2025 said:Also I sold two items and it was saying i have towait for two weeks until I get paid once there is confirmation of delivery they're going to seriously lose a lot of sellers with this nonsense
I’m also interested at how you manage to get paid so quickly on Amazon, I thought it was a lot longer than that, and of course the fees are considerably higher. Admittedly I used to use it more as a business as virtually nothing I sell seconds hand would have the categories for sale on there. I can’t imagine Amazon is viable for many private sellers , but I wish you success as I would do anyone trying to declutter.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you can sell on Amazon with their high costs I would have thought it worth looking at a business a/c on Ebaycb2025 said:Hi I have been selling for over 11 years and have now canceled my account this is absolutely ridiculous fortunately I have switched at selling on Amazon after taking the plunge and so far so good at least you get paid within three days and are not ripped off by buyers in general

They're much a muchness and I find it easier to get sales on Amazon but if you think Amazon are any better at paying and you won't get any problems with buyers you're in for a bumpy ride.cb2025 said:Hi I have been selling for over 11 years and have now canceled my account this is absolutely ridiculous fortunately I have switched at selling on Amazon after taking the plunge and so far so good at least you get paid within three days and are not ripped off by buyers in general

I have a question and apologies if it’s already been asked and answered.
So, I sold an item after the 4th and it was due to be delivered yesterday but wasn’t because the buyer wasn’t in.
Not thinking about this at first obviously what eBay where saying is that you get your money 2 days after delivery assuming you sent it tracked which I did.
Looking on the eBay site I found the following which in reality answers my question.
- For tracked deliveries, the seller will receive payment 2 calendar days after eBay receives confirmation from the tracked delivery service that it was successful.
My question being am I really going to have to wait until the buyer decides to pick up or have the parcel redelivered before I can even think about seeing my money.I understand they want to protect the buyers more but I also think it’s a bit unreasonable that people such as myself should have to wait even longer for their money just because someone isn’t in to collect it as that just punished the sellers even more especially if it’s a large sum of money there expecting / need.

I've been selling off my large private CD collection for the past couple of years. I had no problem with the previous seller fees, and the last 3 months have been a bonus. However, now I can't advertise my prices to compete with the business sellers out there as I have over 50% added to some of my cheaper items, so I am basically a dead duck in the water! Of course, I am in the minority and the business sellers will be all rubbing their hands together. No room for the private guys any more. Anyone fancy setting up a new eBay, along the lines of the original one?!3
