Morning, damp here too @joedenise
DH has popped across to the school to meet the current caretaker and a contractor. No start date for him yet as still awaiting the DBS certificate. I have had a load of emails about my new role - I'm just waiting to see if I can negotiate to do 3 days instead of 4 even if they are longer days. It's in the town beginning with G @joedenise which is 4 stops on the London-bound train from my local station beginning with T. Sorry for code everyone!!
The leek and mushroom pasta bake sauce is 150ml veg stock mixed with 250g of quark or FFFF and 2 tbsp of cornflour. You basically cook the pasta and add the leeks for 2 mins to blanche them. Fry off thyme and mushrooms in another pan. Combine and stir in the sauce. Top with HEA cheese and grill for 15 minutes. Yum.
Pub quiz tonight so I'm using some syns for rum!!
Food today:
B - fruit n fibre, blueberries, FF vanilla yog - HEB, S, 1
L - JP, SW massaman curry, pickles - 1
D - burger in a bowl - 1
HEA - cheese
Syns - 3 rum n diet coke, plus 3 so 9 total
Have a good day everyone
Coxy

Today we’re taking relative out for lunch - going to her familiar place where she feels comfortable but it’s a chain that does chips with most things 😩 I’ll scour the menu to try to find the best choice.
Breakfast heb toast, I tablespoon of choc and hazelnut spread 4 1/2 syns and banana sliced onto it.Late lunch/ early tea……best choice I can find in pub
Snack if needed once home this evening- turkey, tomato, pepper, gherkin picky plate tablespoon hummus (think that’s about 4 syns - missing my sw app)January spends - £587.580 -
It's wet and miserable here today too, although we did get out for a walk this morning and had a coffee afterwards.
Well done on your loss @maddiemay.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I don't think we're ever really happy with where the weight goes from. I know exactly what you mean about looking scrawny so my target weight is just about right for me. Out of interest, I checked and my BMI is somewhere between 21.7 and 22.3. The difference is because I can't put my 5 ft 8.5 inches into the calculator!
Sorry to hear you had a small gain @milann. It's so hard to lose steadily until you can get a clear run at the plan. Having visitors and eating out make things really difficult. Maybe next week?🤔
Houmous is about 1.5 syns for a tbsp depending on the brand.
I like York too. As well as the museums, we had a great time on a ghost walk around the Minster area, great fun.
I'm sure you're counting the days to your trip @weekendsaway. It's ridiculous that you can go abroad more cheaply than a trip in the UK. British hotel room prices have got really silly and the price of breakfast is a rip off. We stayed in a glamorous hotel in Brighton on a room only deal for a function and went to Wetherspoons across the road for breakfast! 🤣
I'm sure you'll be having stuffed BNS very soon @bubbs.😋 I meant to post that DD went to Company Shop the other evening and they were giving away 20kg bags of potatoes! She shared them with me and only a very few were damaged so that's one thing I won't need to buy.
I buy loads of mushrooms @joedenise, usually one large family sized punnet and one smaller one every week week. Hope you didn't get too wet on your shopping trip.
I'm having a shortcut chicken dinner tonight. I made it when I only had the portable hob to cook on and it was so easy. It's a pack of chicken slices (YS from Aldi) with all the veg done on the hob and gravy granules. Not as good as a proper roast but it serves it's purpose. 😁
Today's plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA milk, eggs, bacon (P), baked beans (F)
L- lentil and veg soup (P,S), sardine salad (P,S)
D- chicken (P), mash, peas (F), cabbage, carrots, green beans (S)
Syns- gravy 4?0 -
@Coxy11 that is pretty much how I make my sauces, flavourings vary. Fingers crossed for you altering the hours.
@milann I hope you found something acceptable to eat.
@maman nice getting the potatoes for nothing.
Messy day today OH managed to freeze his bank card(not literally), now needs to put both his cards into ATM tomorrow, some deliveries were late in the day which proved awkward as I was going out to Knit n natter, poor dog only just getting his big walk now, caravan taken for new tyres and me with a headache. Looking forward to bedtime!
A request - do people cook small amounts of mushrooms each time for breakfasts etc or cook batches for the fridge or freezer? It seems to take ages each timeThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
I fry mine each time @maddiemay . I don't find they take that long but I mostly buy chestnut mushrooms as I like them quite firm and the nutty taste.
When I'm doing something in the oven like baked fish, KFC or SW chips then I'll often put mushrooms in for the last 10 minutes max to have as a side dish.

Strolls in 👋👋👋👋👋
Hi all, I’m still on holiday - have spent 5 days in Austria with my DB and family then moved on to Auckland to DS1. Been here five weeks with another week left then a week in Melbourne before flying home. I’m having a tremendous time!
Of course, food and drink has not always been SW friendly 🤣 Plenty of walking, hiking and canoeing being done and of course the obligatory wine tasting tours 😉
Will catch up when I get back but hope you’re all well - and the weather isn’t too bad!0 -
Awwww Jelly 😁😁😁😁
Thanks for popping in , was only saying about you the other day, didn't realise you requested THAT much leave 🤣🤣🤣 Glad you are having a fab time, nice and warm i bet! Enjoy the rest of your holiday and safe travels when you fly back 💓Sealed pot challenge number 003 £350 for 2015, 2016 £400 Actual£345, £400 for 2017 Actual £500:T:T £770 for 2018 £1295 for 2019:j:j spc number 22 £1,457Stopped Smoking 22/01/15:D:D::dance::dance:- 5 st 1 1/2lb :dance:0 -
Morning all, very cloudy but breezy this morning so have taken a chance and done some washing and it's hanging out on the line. The air feels a bit damp but hoping the freezer will blow out some of the wetness so it's only damp when I bring it in later. The forecast is to stay dry until 8pm so hope it's right!
Managed to avoid the rain yesterday @maman although we didn't actually get all that much - it just showery on and off during the day but definitely rained overnight!
Sounds like you're having an amazing time @jellybaby. Enjoy the rest of your holiday and deal with any damage once you're back. As we always say on here SW has to work around your life not the other way round!
I always cook mushrooms fresh as well @maddiemay if I'm frying them. However I have some sliced mushrooms in the freezer which I add to stews as they'd be too wet to fry once defrosted.
I've never thought of adding mushrooms to the try when I do KFC, chips etc in the oven @maman. Thanks for the tip will try that tonight when I cook the KFC and chips.
Today's plan:
B - beans on one slice of toast; marmite on the other
L - LO pasta bolognaise, garlic bread
D - KFC, chips, corn on the cob, mushrooms
HEA - milk
HEB - bread
Syns - LF spread 2; garlic bread 9 (about 50g)!
WI this morning and disappointed to see a 0.8lb gain. Don't think I've gone over on syns but perhaps it's because I haven't had enough Speed. Will just keep plodding as @beanielou would say!
Have a good day everyone.
