    "waves"

Sorry Ive only just got back after such a long silence

We were hit bad by the storms, no power for 5 days, no phone lines, no mobile service - nowt. But we had a stove for warmth, a gas ring for tea/coffee and simple meals - we survived ok

I was very lucky, when the power went on the Friday I emptied the freezers of all the joints Id been buying YS and took them into work to use their freezer. Then I realised oh its a kitchen, not used at the weekend, Ill use it for Sunday dinner - I had got a M&S meal deal - huge bit of beef. - got permission no bother so on the Sunday I drive down, set up the slow cooker, get the meat and spuds in it, shoot off to grab a shower at the leisure centre, came back - power off at the shop !!!!  Luckily my darling farming neighbour had a generator for milking, so took care of the slow cooker, and then took my second freezer to plug in.  It was stressful at the time but hey ho, got through it and I didn't lose too much food ( small items had started to defrost ) , but I saved 99% of it

Im so sorry for the losses some of you have suffered @bubbs  and @maman

Oh the stress during the storm, and where the only place with electricity was the pub - dry January fell by the by

However , even though I weren't using syns on alcohol, and I didn't increase food syns - weight loses were still paltry

Im now of this moment ( using last weigh in last Saturday ) 1/2 a pound above target

Taken an age to get off the 7lb I put on over the summer, it's been up and down, up and down. Looking at my book, last time I was this weight was last March !!!  But Im still within target , Im nipping things in the bud as quickly as I can and that's the main thing

I am determined Im never getting big ( in my eyes ) ever again , I want to go into my last years as trim and healthy as I can

Right now Im suffering a cracked rib, fell over the coffee table last week, fell asleep on the sofa, had the lap top on charge via an extension lead, woke, tripped in the lead and bloody hell it hurts. Because of that cooking is a mare, so Im cooking quick and easy for those two - off my plan - so Im making do with vast amounts of fruits, soups, eggs and Dahl - on plan :)

Off to Poland in two weeks so I really want another couple of pound off - or at least be target. The food is just too good to say no too. And we land on Fat Thursday - doughnut day - yayyyy. It's their version of our Shove Tuesday on doughnuts, morning noon and night and they are HUGE. Didn't have one when we were there in October because I was above target, all bets are off this visit :)

Good to see you posting again @weekendsaway.  Sounds a nightmare being without power, wifi, phones and mobile signal.  I think we've all got used to having it all we'd really miss it.

Sorry to hear you've got a cracked rib - extremely painful but well done on sticking to plan while feeding the others different meals.

Doughnut day sounds amazing - but certainly not SW friendly!  Good luck with shifting a couple of pounds over the next couple of weeks before going to Poland.

As we were late for lunch we're not eating until about 7pm tonight - decided to push it later mainly because Octopus are doing a Saving Session between 5.30 and 6.30pm (using the laptop from battery whereas it's usually plugged so it will be going back on charge at 6.30!

Morning all, it's supposed to be a dry but grey day today so have decided to do a machine load of washing and will hang it out once it gets a bit lighter!

@bubbs - might be worth having a look at George @Asda for brushed cotton duvet sets - I bought a 2 kingsize sets a couple of years ago plus 2 superking flat sheets for £50.

Can't believe it's half way through your time away from home - it seems to have gone quite quickly this time.  Glad you like the place you're staying.  Will you be booking the same place again for next year?

I've got the pharmacist from the surgery phoning me today at lunchtime (why do they pick the most inconvenient time of the day!) to see how I'm getting on with the new inhaler.  Glad to say it seems to be doing a good job and I'm not needing to use my blue inhaler during the day very much - think I've used it about 4 times in the last 2 weeks and that was when my cough was still bad (pleased to say that's much improved too!).  With my old inhaler I was using the blue inhaler up to 10-12 times a day as my breathing was so bad.

Have had to change my menu plan a bit to take into account the lunchtime phone call!

    Today's plan:

    B - toasted cheese sandwich
    L - lentil soup
    D - spag bol

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB - bread
    Syns - none planned

    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning all,

Good to see you posting @weekendsaway - gosh that's a lot to be dealing with AND a cracked rib. Sounds awful. Sending gentle get well hugs your way xx

Agree that it's the most annoying time to call @joedenise!

We went to a talk at the local church last night. I had to collect DH first as he was at DSis house, so I didn't have my skinny bar. Instead we came home via the pub (next door to the church!) and had a couple of rums, so the syns ended up the same.

    Today's food:
    B - fruit n fibre, blueberries, 0% vanilla yog - HEB, S, 1
    L - JP, beans, cheese, pickles - 1, free, HEA, S
    D - chilli con carne with rice - P, S, free
    HEA - milk
    Syns - 2 plus skinny bar - 6.5

We are off to the community kitchen garden this morning. It's seed sowing time, so we will bring some module trays with lids home to germinate them here as the greenhouse isn't heated there. Work on DD's bedroom has stalled as DH has ordered some tools to lift up the (creaky) flooring. They arrive tomorrow.

    Have a good day everyone.

I don’t blame you self sabotaging after the emotions of a long funeral Joe Denise. At least you’ve faced it now.
i went to Wales with a friend yesterday and ended up in a lovely cafe that did do fish and chips but also did jacket potato 😁 so I had a delicious jacket with beans, cheese and a big side salad. I was very pleased with myself. We had a walk by the sea and then went to check her caravan and in a little cafe where we had some bara brith with butter on. It was  delicious and although not syn free better than fried fish and chips I expected to have.
i weighed before I went and as expected I’d gained 1 1/2 lb. it is what it is….had a few picky moments today but breakfast was grated courgette omelette with baked beans. Dinner was toast…..didn’t fancy much else and I’ve not thought about tea yet but it’ll be something syn free from the batch cooking in the freezer.

@milann I think you can ignore what the scales said when you got home from Wales - we always weigh more later in the day.  It's best just to weigh at your normal time (even if it's not the right day which I know we shouldn't do but think a lot of us do!).  It's my WI tomorrow morning and have to say I'm really expecting a gain and not just because of the meat pie I had yesterday.  DD1's partner (he's a chef!) made us some shortbread and I've had a few pieces of that over the week too which I hadn't planned (obviously) so it will be what it is and I'll just have to knuckle down next week and try and shift whatever damage I've done this week!

Thanks Joe Denise….. I did weigh first thing before I went ( yes I’m guilty of weighing first thing several times  week) I just didn’t get around to posting. I’m going to keep at it……
