    Morning all,

Drain company failed to attend yesterday, only told us at 1:30. A bit of a wasted day as we didn’t get up to the allotment as the volunteers are only there in the morning. They are coming today apparently.

WI committee went on a bit last night. There was communication during the day that it might be postponed to tonight so I had my skinny bar after lunch. The meeting was then reinstated(!) so I took an apple with me 👍

I have had a few consultants over the years and none have been slim. I’m not sure what the parameters are to be a consultant but a fellow group member attended an event and was told to lose “at least five stone” to be considered which burst her bubble somewhat.

DH is out this evening so DD and I are having ‘girl dinner’ of meatballs and spaghetti. I will make up a tomato sauce to go with the Aldi meatballs. Is anyone able to tell me the syns pretty please?

    Food today:
    B - protein bagel, poached egg, spinach - HEB, P, S
    L - JP, tuna, light mayo, pickles - P, S, 2
D - beef meatballs, tomato sauce, spaghetti, Parmesan - S, free, HEA, ?? Syns
    HEA - milk
    Syns - 2 plus Skinny bar 4 plus meatballs….

That’s a quick turnaround on the kitchen @beanielou - you’ll have to share photos 😊

    Have a good day all

    Interesting point.

I’m currently just over 1.5st above a healthy BMI of 25. I want to reach a healthy BMI for health reasons (a lot of heart issues and diabetes run in my family) and aesthetically I don’t like my stomach and feel I would look nicer a little slimmer all round.

But I am a bit worried that if I lose the 1.5st or certainly if my BMI went lower than that (which would still be a healthy weight as per BMI) I might start to look “too skinny” in general and lose my boobs etc but still not like my stomach at that weight 🙈.

I’ve not been under 25 BMI since my eldest was a little baby, I lost the baby weight the first time super fast due to constant breastfeeding all night long 🙄 and I was accused of looking a bit gaunt/not healthy then. Alas I put some weight back on once I stopped breastfeeding! So I do wonder if my happy weight might be a little above a 25 BMI to feel confident in my body and still have curves in the right place etc, but I suspect this very much depends on your body type!

I’m only 5 foot so I run the risk of looking very much like a little girl if I lose too much weight… but tbf I think this problem is one I’m unlikely to have 🤣.

Ate lots of chocolate to feed my cold yesterday. No real regrets as it helped settle my stomach. Still feel rubbish today but not *as* bad, so I’m going to stay off the treats. That kind of thing is ok for one day!

Are they the Aldi Ashfields meatballs? The app suggests 1 syn per meatball if so.

Morning all, the weather forecasters seemed to have got it wrong today!  Was supposed to be grey and cloudy all day but we have lovely bright blue skies.  Another machine load of washing is out on the line but not sure it will dry as well as yesterday's load as little to no wind.

Feeling a bit better again today - it's more like a heavy cold now so definitely seem to be on the mend and even got a decent night's sleep with no coughing!  Only woke up once about 3am but went straight back to sleep.

The kitchen seems to be coming along at great speed @beanielou - mine took about 3 weeks although not much inconvenience as we were on holiday for 2 weeks of that.  The builder sent us photos of it coming along while we were away.  He was also doing other works at the same time including a new ceiling in the extension which is now the utility area with the washing machine, tumble dryer and 2nd freezer - unfortunately not enough room for the dishwasher and a 2nd freezer was far more important to me.

    Today's plan:

B - toasted cheese sandwich, pickled onion
    L - jacket potato, beans
    D - spanish rice

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB - bread
    Syns - chorizo 5

    Have a good day everyone.

Sorry for the delay @maman :)

    Braised steak and mushrooms

    Serves 4

    1 syn per serving

    Freezable, SP

    Ready in 3 hours*

4 thick-cut lean braising steaks, visible fat removed

    2 level tbsp plain flour

    Low-calorie cooking spray

3 medium onions, halved and sliced

    1 level tsp sweetener

    6(!) garlic cloves, crushed

    ½ tsp dried mixed herbs

    700ml boiling beef stock

    3 tbsp worcestershire sauce

    800g mushrooms, thickly sliced

    Chopped fresh parsley to serve

Season the steaks on both sides, dust with flour and set aside.

Spray a deep, lidded non-stick frying pan with low-calorie cooking spray and place over a low heat. Add the onions and 3 tbsp water, cover and cook for 10 minutes or until soft.

Uncover the pan, add the sweetener and increase the heat to high. Cook for another 10 minutes or until the onions are nicely browned and caramelised, stirring frequently.

Stir in the garlic, mixed herbs, stock and Worcestershire sauce. Add the steaks to the pan along with the mushrooms. Cover and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and cook gently for 1.5 hours.

Uncover the pan and simmer gently for another hour or so until the sauce has reduced and thickened and the steaks are meltingly tender. Scatter over the parsley to serve. Delicious with mashed potatoes or swede mash.

*I used the slow cooker for this, low for 8 hours.

Mine is just purely the kitchen. This was booked in September last year. The tradesmen are worth their weight in gold as they commit to a job & work til they are finished. Here every day 8 to 5.
They were the same when they did my conservatory in 2020.

Youre half way there now Beanie 👏👏 Exciting to have a new kitchen.
I’ve just caught up to when I was last on here before weekend. Pleased to hear there have been losses and folk feeling better after being poorly.
i weighed this morning and was quite miffed with myself that I’d put 1/2 on. At least I didn’t put the full pound on that I lost last week. I can accept the loss happily as we did celebrate ds birthday in style. The thing that I’m miffed at is after my visit to the dentist yesterday I felt the need to pop into a local bakery that I’ve not visited since lockdown. I bought a Jamie dodger blonde which I had every intention of sharing with Dh. There were 2 stuck together which she couldn’t separate easily so she gave me them both…..Dh didn’t even see them. They were delicious. I’d probably have maintained had it not been for the cakes. I did enjoy them though…..another learning experience 😂😂 Don’t visit the bakery if I want to loose weight👍
Right I’m off to see a show about Dolly Parton this afternoon. I’m walking to the tram station which is about a 40 minute walk and then we’ll walk across town to the show.
Brunch - courgette omelette and a slice of cheese (hea) on toast with tomato.
No idea what I’m eating the rest of the day but if we eat out I’ll have a jacket. If I eat at home it’ll be left over pasta.

Shame about the little gain @milann but at least you know where it came from. I do hope you enjoyed the pastries. All you can do is just plod on and try to keep within your 105 syns for the coming week.

Thanks for the recipe @Coxy11. It looks like a cross between the Hairy Bikers braised steaks and the recipe I use for beef in 'red wine' which uses beef cubes instead of steaks. I use the medallion steaks from Aldi. sometimes for a beef 'dinner' and sometimes with chips. Any LO gravy is excellent for sausage and mash and so low syn compared with other gravy.

I've never taken much notice of BMI @Bluegreen143. I chose my target based on the dress size I remembered being happy with and then, to check I was a healthy weight, I used one of those height/weight charts that used to come with the SW pack. Unfortunately, we always lose from areas we'd rather not. I know that whenever I go below target my arms start to look like pipe cleaners and my neck and face look scraggy.☹ Fortunately, that doesn't happen very often.🤣

You do sound improved @joedenise and the fact that you're back to posting your menus again suggests that your appetite is back.👍🏼

Shame your visit to the Company Shop proved fruitless @bubbs. Don't suppose you'll be going hungry though.😁 Do you bring stuff from the freezer to your rental or buy in specially?🤔

Your kitchen people are certainly cracking on @beanielou. I suppose they want to be finished on Friday as much as you do as they've probably got another job waiting next week.

    Today's plan-
B- HEB toast, bacon, egg (P), mushrooms and tomatoes (S), HEA milk
    L- JP (F), tuna (P), salad (S)
D- veggie chilli with rice (P,S,F), cottage cheese (P)
    Syns- LTL mayo 1
