My parents paid £15k for their first (and only) home, they always said that they'd never pay more for a car than they did their house! I can't really comprehend what I'll get for £180k what our house first cost in 30 something years time

    Morning all,

Brrr it's chilly. We have a company coming to look at our drains this morning - will spare you further details. We are hoping to go to the community kitchen garden afterwards for our first voluntary shift. I also have a WI committee meeting this evening, so a fairly busy day.

    Food today:
B - M&S maple porridge sachet HEB with half milk HEA and half water - this exploded in the MW so feeling annoyed that I only got to eat half of it!
    L - Protein bagel, poached egg, spinach, 2 satsumas, apple - 6, P, S
    D - SW chicken supreme - free
    HEA - milk
Syns - 6 but will take a skinny bar with me to the committee meeting to avoid the inevitable biscuits offered! 10 total for the day.

    Have a good day everyone

Hello all! I’ve been remiss at posting but I have been tracking, except on Saturday when I lost track (I was at a friend’s for lunch so tricky to know how much oil etc is used when you didn’t cook it yourself! And I had a lot of HM sourdough).

    Anyway, yesterday’s food:

B - nectarine, yoghurt, maple syrup (1 - maple syrup)

L - beans & cheese on toast with fruit (HEA, HEB, 2 - butter)

D - minestrone style soup with lots of veg and chorizo  (estimated 2 for chorizo as used 100g for the soup and made a huge pot).

    5 in total.

    Today’s plan:

B - overnight oats with strawberry & banana (0.5 HEA, HEB, 0.5 - maple syrup)

    L - leftover minestrone soup (2 - chorizo)

D - griddled chicken, HM pesto, pasta (haven’t worked out the syns for the pesto yet but it will be within plan, HEA for parmesan)

I’m feeling rubbish with a bad cold today so might possibly have a treat later but will try to keep within syns.

Morning all, definitely chilly this morning and quite cloudy.  Have done a machine load of washing which is out on the line and blowing nicely so hopefully should dry.  Struggling with meal planning at the moment - just haven't got the headspace to do the whole month like I usually do so just doing a week at a time at the moment.  Need to go shopping as nearly out of bread (DH eats so much more of it than me - I stick to my 2 slices but he often has 4 or 6 so a loaf doesn't go far!).

Hope your drains get sorted OK @Coxy11 and it's not too expensive.

As you say @Bluegreen143 it's difficult to know how to syn foods that you haven't cooked yourself so all you can do is just cut back a bit for the rest of he week to hopefully stay within syns for the week.

I'm feeling a bit better again this morning so obviously getting there but think it's going to take quite a long time to get back to "normal"!

    Today's plan:

    B - breakfast hash
L - HM chicken liver pate, toast, pickles
    D - cottage pie, veg

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - brandy 1 (small amount in the pate!); LF spread 3

    Have a good day everyone.

I know they say 'feed a cold' @Bluegreen143 but make sure they're syns you enjoy. I just try to use a minimum of syns each day so that I have plenty for weekends although I do cut myself some slack when WI is weeks away.

My DH is the same with bread @joedenise. I keep a range of bread products in the freezer and he tends to lean towards protein thins or wholemeal rolls for his lunches so there's inevitably some wholemeal loaf in there.

Shame you don't like a cooked breakfast first thing @strawb_shortcake. I find becasue I have to showered and dressed for breakfast in a hotel I'm really ready for it. Good idea to go for a steak and if they have salad and  JP with it then even better.

I reckon you're got half a HEB going spare @Coxy11. 🤣 Well done for taking your own snack to the WI meeting. That's a really good tip.👍🏼

How long do you think it's going to take to fit your new kitchen @beanielou. I was just wondering how many take aways you're likely to have?🤔😁

Interesting comment in the obituary of MMB in the paper this morning. 'Miles-Bramwell remained a woman of substance, in build, hair and character, explaining her stature as “a weight I’m comfortable with and it’s certainly not slim”'. There was also some criticism from her  of other plans (like WW) where they expected a target weight but I think WW has changed now. What put me off WW back in the day was all the measuring/weighing they seemed to do.  I suppose we all have to decide what weight/dress size we're happy with and fit it around our lifestyle but I do find it strange that MMB, like my own consultant, was happy to still be overweight.

    Today's plan-
B- HEB toast, eggs, bacon (P), baked beans (F), HEA1 milk for drinks
L- cold meat (P), LO veg and pickles (F,S)
    D- Spaghetti Bolognese (P,S,F), HEA2 Parmesan
    Syns- 0

Been awol for a few days and will catch up on the thread later.
I’ve tried my best since going out for ds birthday celebrations and walked or used my wiifit everyday.
Yesterday I did a Jamie O recipe. Duck breast in ras el hangout cooked in the air fryer. And cous cous with various veg. It was lovely (I didn’t eat the skin and used a teaspoon of oil rather than the tablespoons he’d suggested)  I also made a pepper and butter bean soup last week and a mushroom soup today. I’m hoping to stay the same tomorrow when I weigh. 🤞
Right I’m off to catch up from where I left the threa last……

    Afternoon all

Interesting about the prices of homes, my Mum& Dad paid 3.5k for a brand spanking new 3 bedroom bungalow, it's the family home and Mum still there, 1966 they bought it and she said people thought they were mad getting a mortgage for that 😂 When we were all small they wanted to move to a house in the village but it was just too expensive at 32k, it's just sold for 600k! 😱

We paid £32k for our house, we paid 2x as much for our first lodge!

Maman WW is more like SW now, my sister goes, but as a target member she still has to pay for the app! Also it's all cashless, everything is done online.

We went to the company shop today, it was crap 😂 I did get some gammon steaks for £2.35 which we are having for tea.

Denise, glad you are feeling a bit better day by day, just take it easy.

I had a picky plate at lunch but forgot to take a pic , ham, tomato, beetroot and watermelon

Kitchen is fairly cracking on. All units and old tiles from floor & walls are away. Boarding for new floor is down & most of electrical work done.
I think we are on track for completion on Friday.
