Not long back from our Christmas lunch. It wasn't bad for a pub do! I opted for beef with no gravy and gave DH my yorkie and one of the roast potatoes. I only ate one potato, some roasted parsnips, some carrots & a few peas; ate all the Brussel sprouts as they actually quite cooked rather than the rock hard bullets that can sometimes be at these sort of places.
They had some raspberry sorbet so I had that rather than Christmas pudding and custard and have to say it was really nice (and I suspect a lot less syns!).
Did have syns though as DH said he'd drive even though I'd volunteered so had a couple of glasses of wine so definitely over syns today!

Popped in to see Mum on way home, she said she didn't feel with it, couldn't say what was up but not her normal self.
Gets home my sister rings we are in your town, (she lives about 20miles away )i'll pop your Christmas bits in, bloody shopping everywhere 🙄 anyway when she comes she tells me Mum had a fall Monday at 7am and had to call my other sister to get her up, she went with her work colleague as knew she wouldn't get Mum up on her own! Mum never mentioned it 🙈yet so is so against and alarm thing, But then she was against taking her phone in the bedroom, but she does now.
My adult niece is really poorly, they thought she had pneumonia, she was at the hospital all day yesterday, she has an infected lung. Steroids and antibiotics prescribed.
Food today,
Never had anything apart from 1 boiled egg i took from fridge and a banana.

Thank you all for your comments, collected a monitor from Argos, none available for loan atm. Not used it yet, bid of an animal crisis dog trying to extricate a hedgehog from under a shrub, lots of barking me in slippers and dressing gown, pitch black, trying to catch dog while holding a torch, laughing now, but not good for my BP.
Back tomorrow, it may be calmer then. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Morning all, it's another dry day today so have decided to wash the bedding and get that out of the way so at least I won't need to do it as soon as we get home!
@maddiemay - it's actually a good idea to have your own BP monitor so you can check it from time to time. As for no loan machines available I'm not really surprised as I think surgeries tend to only have one for everyone on their books so often a long wait for them. My DD1 did have one from her surgery a while ago and she said the bloody thing woke her up twice in the night with the pumping up! It did it's job of showing that she had extremely high BP and not just because she was in the GP surgery. Now on medication and everything has settled down thankfully.
Some great bargains there again @bubbs. Not good though with not eating much during the day, with all the rushing around you're doing you need to be eating properly and not just a boiled egg and a banana! Hopefully you'll be eating a bit better than that today. Last day of writing up your orders isn't it and deliveries over the weekend? Think you'll be glad of the rest once it's all done.
Lunch yesterday wasn't bad at all - it was in my post yesterday afternoon. Was higher syn than it needed to be as I had a couple of glasses of wine as DH decided he was going to drive even though I said I would so he could have a drink.
DH has to go to the dentist this morning and I'm getting my hair cut. Once he's back from town then I'll be off to my waxing appointment and pick up a couple of bits from Tescos - obviously don't need much as only here for the weekend.
Today's plan:
B - cheese omelette - HEA2; P
L - vegetable and bean casserole from freezer - P; S; F
D - confit duck, chips and beans - F; 8?
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
HEB - none planned
Syns - confit duck 8 (I think)
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all,
Sorry to hear about your Mum’s fall @bubbs and also about your niece. Hope there’s some positive news soon 🤞🏻 My Mum told me she’s going to paint her lounge and has got her ladders out ready - you can imagine my response! She’s 83!
Don’t expect the hedgehog rescue did your BP any favours @maddiemay! DH is going for a check this morning as his was high when we went to A&E re. His back pain. Hoping it was just a blip.
Day off today and was meant to be meeting a friend at a NT property but she’s not well and has just cancelled. I will therefore be running errands with DH and will have lunch somewhere…B - 2 x satsumas, toasted protein bagel, light soft cheese - S, HEB, 1/2 HEA
L - not sure yet as will be out!
D - courgette and basil risotto - 2, 1/2 HEB
HEA - milk

Morning all,
Hope your mum is ok @bubbs and the meds work quickly for your niece.
Don’t rush around too much @Coxy11 and have a lovely lunch. I’m out again today at an Italian restaurant this time 🙈🤣
I’m hoping to make WI on Saturday take it on the chin and then I’m off to my niece’s wedding for three days! January is looking like a fresh start 🤣🤣
Hope everyone is well.0 -
I think January is going to be a fresh start for a lot of us @Jellybaby! It definitely will be for me after my holiday!
Enjoy your Italian meal today, you can have a good meal for fairly low syns as long as you pick a tomato based sauce and leave the pizza alone!

Sorry to hear about your mum and niece @bubbs. You've got so much pressure at the moment. 🤗
It's the same here with the BP monitors @maddiemay. Like you, DH bought his own and then weeks later the surgery called to say one was available. 🤔Hope your BP settles down soon. It could well be pain that affected your DH @Coxy11. 🤞your DH gets good news.
Where did you get the duck confit @joedenise. It's a favourite with DH. We like it with dauphinoise potatoes so, like you, I'll be checking the SW ready meal when it comes out. If I make it now I use low fat creme fraiche and HEA for cheese. Maybe they'll use quark? 🤔
It's all go with you @Jellybaby. It's my plan too to start afresh in January although I'm doing my best to have as many SW meals as possible.
Anyone got any ideas for a new thread title for January? 🤔
I didn’t post yesterday as wasn't sure how the evening would work out and then left it too late . In the end, we ate (veggie chilli) very early before going to see The Nutcracker in the cinema. DH had a glass of wine and I had coffee. 😇
Today's plan -
B- HEB porridge, grapes and banana (F), HEA milk
L- veggie omelette and salad (P, S)
D- savoury mince, new potatoes, veg (P, S, F)
Syns - 00 -
The duck confit came from France @maman. We brought it back with us last time we were over there. It was a huge pack which was vac-packed so had to slightly defrost in order to separate out into meal sized portions. Ended up with 5 or 6 meals worth. Think there's only 1 left after this! Won't buy them again as there's not much meat on them! Would much rather have breast which is much meatier. Having said that they tend to be cheaper from our local butcher than we can buy them in France (unless they're on offer in Lidl!).
I'm looking forward to seeing what the recipe is for the SW dauphinoise - I suspect you're right that they will be using quark rather than creme fraische for creaminess but we'll see. Don't think there will be much cheesiness if there's only quark in it!0 -
Yes I agree about the ready meal @joedenise but adding in a HEA would be a good tweak if we can replicate the recipe at home.
I thought the confit must be from France. I'm hoping we can go in the new year. We like the tins of confit but haven't had any for ages. I suspect they cost an arm and a leg now (excuse pun!). 🤣0
