Thanks for @milann for the recipe books. I'll look out for them in the CS - I'm not buying any more full priced books!
I used to like to crochet but unfortunately arthritis I'm my thumbs have made it too difficult to do very much at a time so don't do any anymore. At least with sewing most of it can be done on the sewing machine!
I traced off my pattern onto some thicker pattern paper so it doesn't tear. The pattern I've found is actually one I've made before - I think it might be the one I made with a bit of broderie anglais I had which was only big enough to do the front and I cut the back out of an old sheet! I also didn't make my own binding but used some white bias binding I'd bought and was in my sewing stash.
Couldn't find any lightweight cotton but have found some fabric (no idea what it is but it certainly isn't cotton or poly cotton); it's quite lightweight and it's a white background with blue flowers which I think will go quite well with the skirt I made. It's quite floaty but cut a piece off and have run it through on the machine and it sews quite nicely so thought it's worth a go. It's too floaty for a dress (well for me anyway!).
Forgot to say I lost just under 0.5lb this week so it's coming off slowly but surely. Only got a couple of weeks until we go away so don't think I'll quite make it back to target as I'm 1.4lb over top end but can only just keep plodding as @beanielou would say!
Hope the weather is good for you tomorrow @maman for your beach picnic. It's a long way to go for a picnic but as long as you enjoy it. It's good that you'll be taking your own food so won't be going over syns by much with just a bit of cake. Are you driving?0 -
Evening all 😁
Maddie, fingers crossed for your dh, i know what it's like waiting.
Thanks Milann .
Maman yes you do get the recipe books with them so you can make youself, you get a booklet type thing, a lady brings them into group.
Rain! It absolutely lashed it down here today, we had gone up the unit to get stuff for orders and i said to dh looks like it's going to hiss it down, never while we was there but did when we came back . Been dry for a 3-4 of hrs now and door open .
Bad news for the town today a murder 😢

Morning all, bit cloudy this morning but no rain forecast. On the forecast last night it said it would rain tomorrow but looking this morning looks like it's dry most of the day with a 39% chance of rain around 6pm. Have done a machine load of washing this morning and it's out on the line to dry. Will do another load tomorrow.
Have divvied up the goat curry and put enough for another meal in the freezer. We'll have half of it tonight.
I've done quite a bit of the top I started yesterday. It's in one piece and I've bound the neck. Just need to bind the armholes and turn up the hem so hopefully will finish that today. It's a nice easy pattern to make, just wish I had some different fabric to make it up again. I've got plenty of the same fabric but don't really want more than one top in that fabric.
Today's plan:
B - fry up with bacon - P; S; F
L - chicken fajitas - P; S; F; 3.5
D - goat curry, rice, mango chutney - P; S; F; 2
HEA - milk
HEB - SW wrap
Syns - avocado 3.5; mango chutney 2
Have a good day everyone.0 -

Sunny, but windy this morning, walk on country estate then SM shop prices are worse week by week; no meat or fish today either. The fruit & veg at our Aldi are not great so Sains it has to be. Nothing for stock/no toiletries or cleaning materials, we eat small portions too.
Rant over for today
The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Maddie, obviously i look at prices as bubbs likes a bargain 😁😁 but i have just got like Mum, if i need we have to pay it 😢 longs i can afford it, obviously.
Also i think Sains prices are on par with Aldi for f&v

Evening all, another busy day here. Mum’s washing machine’s broken. We reckon it’s at least 25 years old so not bad going! What she didn’t tell me was that it broke two weeks ago 🙈 so I’ve done six loads and managed to get it all dry. And new machine ordered and arriving Monday.
I had a maintain too @bubbs. Too tired to moan about it 🤣🤣 and will continue to plod on.
Foods all been on plan and I’m about to syn a few Percy Pigs.0 -
Jelly, Parents! Least you have sorted them out 🥰
A maintain is better than a gain, have a handful 🤣 or Percy's for me 😜
We have just booked a weeks holiday in September in Yorkshire 😁😁not long considering we are in August already!Sealed pot challenge number 003 £350 for 2015, 2016 £400 Actual£345, £400 for 2017 Actual £500:T:T £770 for 2018 £1295 for 2019:j:j spc number 22 £1,457Stopped Smoking 22/01/15:D:D::dance::dance:- 5 st 1 1/2lb :dance::dance:0 -
Had a bad week and gained 11/2 ,how come it goes back on so easily but getting it off is so difficult !
i think the fruit and veg quality in supermarkets is v much down to the managers
My Aldi is v good ,but Sains is poor and don’t get me started on their plants !0 -
Morning all, weather a bit better this morning as not quite as cloudy and certainly a bit brighter. Have done a machine load of washing and that's out on the line. Should dry quite well as there's a bit of breeze.
Shame about the gain @Suffulksue but don't be disheartened just get back on plan and it'll come off again. Agree with you that it goes on easier than taking it off though!
Didn't get my top finished yesterday as DD2 turned up unexpectedly around 10 and left about 3.15 and then about 10 minutes later DD1 turned up! Can't remember the last time we saw both girls on the same day but it was lovely to see them both. Will hopefully finish it today. Have decided I will make another top with the same fabric but will add some short sleeves to it so it at least is a bit different!
Today's plan:
B - fry up with sausages - P; S; F; 2
L - chilli with mixed beans - not sure whether to do rice or a jacket with it, will see what DH wants - P; S; F
D - roast chicken dinner - P; S; F
HEA - milk
HEB - none planned
Syns - sausages 2
Have a good day everyone.0
