Morning all, lovely and bright this morning.  We didn't get any real rain yesterday just a few spots here and there although there was a definite feel of rain in the air at times.  So DH still ended up having to water the garden.  Dug up another potato plant and got nearly 2.5 Kg from just that one plant.  I used some of the bigger ones to make chips and they were lovely and crisp - much better than the shop bought ones, although they didn't brown as much.

I've only got WI this week and next before our holiday to Norfolk, really hoping I can shift a bit more weight to at least get me back to top end of target range - I seem to have been out of range such a long time now!

DH has an appointment to see the nurse lunchtime today, just to check the wounds after his op.  They looked good to me when I changed the plasters the other day - think she might just have to trim up a couple of the stitches to skin level as there are a couple of ends.

    Today's plan:

    B - bacon sandwich - HEB; P; 3
    L - chicken salad - P; S
    D - corned beef hash - P; S; F; 4

    HEA1 - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - LF spread 3; corned beef 4

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning all, not quite as warm this morning but at least it's forecast to warm up later.

We had a free hour's electric yesterday afternoon so I took advantage and got a couple of loads of washing done and also cooked a new to me recipe from the BBC Good Food website for jerk sweet potato and black bean curry so we'll be having some of that for dinner tonight and another meal's wroth gone into the freezer  I also cooked a sweet and sour chicken for the freezer.  So that's a couple of meals ready to take away with us in the motorhome in a couple of weeks time.

Shame it was another STS for your @maman but I'm sure it'll come off this week with continuing to plod and don't have any meals out planned this week.  I'm hopeful for a loss this week as have been sticking to plan.

    Today's plan:

    B - mushroom omelette - P; S
    L - corned beef and salad sandwich - HEB; S; 5
    D - jerk sweet potato and black bean curry, rice - P; S; F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - LF spread 3; corned beef 2

    Have a good day everyone.

Retrieved my laptop from the repair shop yesterday so I feel more in touch with the world, phone is fine for reading for me, but not for much posting.
Have major brain fog this morning and just realised I should be on my way to WI, going to skip it, last week of my countdown anyway.
All out of routine as OH to have MRI scan this afternoon, no food/drink 4 hours before and 1.5 hours away, planning to have brunch late morning and pick up a drink for me on the way or at the hospital where major re-building and re-modelling is happening so an awful maize to find way around.

    Have a good day all.

    Morning all,

Hope all goes well this morning @maddiemay

I’m sure you’ll lose next week @maman but I know very well how frustrating it can be.
Hope all is well with @Coxy11

Due to the storm, mother’s new washing machine is arriving today so will head through to them shortly. Apart from ironing for about two hours I’ve had a relaxed few days listening to the wind and rain.  I only iron the absolute must items but mother even irons socks 😳😳 so thought I’d return their laundry without any complaints 😉

    Today’s food:
    B - toast HEXB, jam 3 syns
L - ham and mushroom omelette with pickles, fruit
D - stuffed pork fillet, new potatoes, cabbage, roasted carrots and tomatoes

    Have a good day everyone.

It's lovely and sunny and a comfortable 20 degrees or so here today. The weather looks to be excellent right into next week.😁😎

Hope all goes well today @maddiemay and that it's not too long a wait for results.🤞🏼

Do let us know what you think of the new recipe @joedenise.

I'm another that does minimal ironing @Jellybaby. Usually I just do a stint every few weeks as there's rarely anything that's urgent. DH likes to wear shirts and cotton/linen trousers when he's going out and this time of year I have more dresses and tops to iron. At the moment I'm working my way through the curtains and loose covers for the sitting room as I don't plan to put them back on until we have the new carpet. Hope the parents are pleased with your efforts on their behalf.😁

Thanks for the commiserations on my STS. It is very frustrating.😡 It seems every extra ounce has settled on my stomach. I tried on two skirts before I went dancing on Monday but both looked horrible so I settled for a high waisted dress. I'm still waiting for a reply from the surgery so have cut the pills down to one a day as a compromise until I hear something different. As weight gain is a known side effect, it's the only thing I can think of that's stopping me losing. I hope you're luckier than me this week @joedenise.🤞🏼

I did Delia's braised red cabbage in the SC yesterday as I'd been given a cabbage. Today I plan to batch cook a veggie chilli. I've discovered that there's one more keema in the freezer so will put off doing curry for another week.

    Today's plan-
B- fry up (P,F, HEB toast), HEA milk for drinks
L- LO casserole and pickles (P,S,F)
D- salmon (P), hassleback potatoes (F), stir fry veg (S)
    Syns- 0

Haven't done any sewing for a couple of days so decided to try and finish the top I started last week.  There wasn't that much to do but it's now done.  Just needed to turn the neck binding inside and stitch, sew a small hem on the cap sleeve, hem the bottom and sew a hook and eye to fasten it.  Probably wasn't more than about an hour and half to finish it.  Wish I'd done it at the weekend and then it could have been washed and put away the same as the other one.  The fabric doesn't crease too badly and will definitely be wearable on holiday as long as I fold it neatly before putting in the case!

Will certainly let you know if the new recipe is a keeper or not tomorrow.  The quick taste I had of it yesterday after I'd cooked it did seem as though it was going to be quite a hot one so may need to have some yoghurt with it as well as the usual mango chutney!

The cloud has gone and it's lovely and sunny now and up to about 22 or 23 degrees so very pleasant.

All the sewing chat reminded me I missed Sewing Bee yesterday so I need to catch up. It’s the first series I’ve watched and have enjoyed it so far.
I’ve been out to eat so many times this week I’m certainly going to gain. I am quite mad with myself as I haven’t even made decent choices. It was my wedding anniversary yesterday and I’d had great ideas of being close to target but I’m further away than when I rejoined  in February. I’ve got 2 weeks left on my countdown so need to decide whether to call it a day or really get my act together. I can’t keep throwing money away and getting annoyed with myself. I did have a lovely day yesterday and we had a Turkish meal that could have fed us for a couple of days, we had a lovely walk along the river watching the boats coming and going and a walk around the old docks which is now a tourist attraction. It was rather windy though.
It’s a tasting day tomorrow at SW so I’m going to slice the watermelon I won last week. I’d never get through it by myself and it’ll be nice and easy. Just hope I’ve got enough ice to keep it cool.

    Evening all

Maddie, hope DH got on ok.

Milann, do you think you could go it alone? or would you end up where you started? I know i certainly couldn't do it on my own.

Been lovely here today too, but i have noticed the night dropping in earlier 😢 we are only in August!

    Food today

Watermelon, seafood sticks and beetroot at lunch time, bit of a mixture but again was late as we decided to go out late!
Tea, hexa, hexb, bbq seasoned chicken, i butterflied a breast and cooked it, then sliced it and put with cheese on wrap then toasted it, served with chips and salad.
