Sorry @bubbs thought it was today. Least your DH is all organised and he can enjoy his Chinese fakeaway tonight! 😋
I’m on my third set of dishes! I had to go to four different branches to complete sets of the items I wanted. The old dishes will be boxed up and stored in the garage for when DS2 moves out 🤞😉
Was out so long I missed lunch so have been picking on fruit and will have dinner slightly earlier.0 -
I’ve just had a catch up read of everyone’s news. Well done on the losses.I totally agree that ‘spoons menu is now totally rubbish…..I used to nearly always have the steak with salad a jacket. They won’t be getting my custom much from now on.
We've just come back from a lovely trip in Millie Motorhome- we stayed at a Haven site in Wales. The weather was incredible and we travelled on the little train through Snowdonia….absolutely beautiful scenery. We also bought a bus ticket which was much more MSE and travelled from place to place again taking in scenic Wales. On our last night we stayed at Portmeirrion where they filmed The 60s series The Prisoner. It was expensive but I love it there. Unfortunately the weather changed and was a tad chilly for the open air pool so we headed home. I’ll be happy if I stay the same this week….however…..I’m not holding my breath. Got until Thursday to do some damage limitation 🤞January spends - £587.580 -
Great about the crockery @bubbs very MSE! Glad DH is organised, enjoy the takeaway tonight x
The car show outing was good. Got a Washington State registration plate for DS1. Just bought coffees and DD’s friend brought some cake. I had a smidgeon of brownie so will count as 5. Had also had a skinny bar. Not hungry so am saving myself for steak and chips later.Cross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings0 -
@milann - did you go to Greenacres? That's where we went but hired a caravan rather than taking the motorhome. Travelled all over the place by bus. We were going to get the train but didn't get round to it and the train from Porthmadog didn't start until the Monday after we were coming home! Typical of our luck. Thought we'd do the mountains on the bus and only 2 buses a week at the time so didn't get to do that either. Saw some great scenery driving to and from and site and also from the buses.0

Joedenise we did. The bus to Porthmadog was every half hour and some of them went onto Pen y Pass. We sat at the top of a double decker bus and travelled down the Llanberris Pass……absolutely stunning. The day ticket was £4….something as we have senior bus passes and although Wales don’t let you travel free there were some reductions, but even at £7 for the full rate was brilliant value. We went right from the site to Porthmadog for a mooch then back on bus to Penn y Pass in Snowdonia, changed buses in the mountains and went to Caernarfon for an hour or so and back on bus to Bedgellert where we spent a couple of hours before getting on the bus back to the site. We’ve stayed at quite a few of the Haven sites and this was my favourite by far. We didn’t use any of the facilities (except the supermarket where we snaffled quite a few reduced items 😃👍) The weather was wall to wall sunshine so we sat in our ‘garden’ feeding the robins and blackbirds of an evening - the touring site was lovely although the shower cubicles were the smallest I’ve ever been in 😂😂. We weren’t sure whether or not we’d go on the train as when we enquired we were told they were only running diesels due to fire risk….its a lot of money if it’s not what you want….anyway we decided to go for it and managed to get on without pre booking…to our delight it was indeed a steam engine. They’d sent a train ahead to spray water and dampen the sidings and were running fewer carriages but even so we had to stop on the way back as there were trackside fires….they were on the case straight way though and they were quickly put out. We only saw diesels from then on but they were running the steamers along the station area where there was no risk of fire and giving footplate rides for a donation, so folk could still see the steam engines. Dh was in his element and we spent an afternoon in the bar of the station watching them. Oops sorry for the holiday ramble ☺️ What a shame you went all that way and didn’t see the steam engines JD. We’re lucky as it’s just over 2 hours from home by car….a bit longer in the motorhome 😃
