While I was there I bought a little clip on rechargeable fan for £2 which I'm now using to keep cool so that was worth the trip.
It's surprisingly effective and very quick to charge too.
Everything else on the board was right, just that one little slip!
I also popped into my favourite BHF shop and decided to buy this Dorling Kindersley book of Children's Birthday Cakes for the very detailed photos and how-to descriptions. I was looking for some cropped trousers but there were none to be had so I may have a look elsewhere tomorrow if I have the stamina.

I used to collect misspelled signs when I came across them - "the oures we are open" for instance. And it was a professionally printed sign! I was beginning to despair at the education in the country, so I stopped. My favorite was "Braled chicken" which we finally worked out with the waitress was really broiled chicken - 12 inch letters on their sign out front of the hotel no less.9

I had a little potter round my local shops yesterday. Purchases were a pair of Rohan walking trousers for £3.99. Ankle-length, great quality for dog walking. An Asics sports top in multicolours with a boat neck. £5.59. I am now the smartest dog-walker for miles.
Also a Goodmove (M&S) light sports jumper which was on the Sale rail in Oxfam. looks unworn and a bargain at £1.99!
As well as pottering, I also made a very tentative foray into pottery yesterday - I know some of you on this thread are experts. It's a lovely shallow bowl in blues and greens from the Porthmadog Pottery in Wales. Seems to be lots of it about online. I paid £9.99. It's beautiful and I can't decide whether I'll keep it or gift it - it's such a lovely piece. I will try and do a photo of it this weekend as now I have to brave going into London in the heat...10 -
Sorry for the O/T post but….
Daphne’s back with a second brood! Seven chicks this time. Sitting here with a coffee at 7am and she waddled past….stopped for water and a snack and off she went through the garden to the back gate and the road😳. They all crossed safely and she had the sense to walk them all along the footpath off to the pond. What a lovely start to the day! Now off to the car boot sale…..😊

@Miró - Daphne sure has been a busy girl!! Her brood is very cute but I must say that something that really puts me off some of the most famous parks in the world is having to dodge the deposits the wildlife (esp geese and ducks) leave behind! Parks without water suit me far better.
Not been out for a while due to ill health - managed to work only with a desk fan in my face - but its a lot cooler today and less sunny so I think I may have a mooch around some local chazzers this afternoon after a walk by the seafront. Having said that I do not miss buying stuff a single bit as I feel so choked by what I already have! So I think my next trip to the chaz will by necessity involve dropping some stuff off.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.9 -

Hurrah for Daphne!I made a trip up to Bicester this morning to drop a few donation bags off, but obviously then had a good mooch round all the charity shops. My best purchase was a small portable DVD player for £20, in perfect condition and the exact same model I had been looking at online last night for £130. It’s so that my three year old granddaughter can watch the BBC language learning cartoon series Muzzy (does anyone remember that? It’s brilliant).
I also treated myself to a lightweight hooded rain jacket, black with a subtle sort of lacy grey pattern on it, for £3, a Rocha John Rocha knitted cotton jumper in stripes of purple, grey and black (£2), a white angel beanie baby bear (to go in one of the granddaughter’s advent calendar bags which I do every year) for £2, and some craft stuff - two small tubs of holographic embossing powder (new), a book about tapestry stitching complete with new canvas, wools and a needle, and two packs of Fimo clay in red and green - all for £5.9 -
The trip to the car boot sale plus a couple of chazza shops resulted in….
3 x b/n lipsticks for £1, pair of M&S black trousers for £5, a cream long cardi for £1 and a pink (!) small travel case for £3.95, (even managed to crack the password on the lock and change it, thanks to a video)😊
