DigForVictory said:I love cufflinks, but cheat & use my saddlers clamp to fasten the blighters up.
Yeah, I have some weird stuff around the house.5 -
Looks a bit like this - hold hold the fabric/leather whatever in the clamp, squeeze firmly shut with the knees & then have two hands to wrestle. Or at least one, but the blighted cuff isn't wriggling anywhere in a hurry. Of course with the non-dominant hand I then drop the blinking cufflink, but I still reckon it's an easier garment to don than some of the compression articles.
Oh aye, and perhaps why white trainers are back into 'acceptable' is that our own dear Princess of Wales is repeatedly seen healthily setting a good example in white supergas. (Who may well get a warrant out of that in years to come.) Not that it's always reliable to take fashion tips off the monarchy but it equally isn't too clever to say they look 'middle aged & frumpy' when they could take you easily at most track & field events...7 -

A couple of useful finds in the 99p Otley shop today both bnwt. A Massimo Dutti blouse in a lavender colour with a twisty knotted scarf neck thing going on, price tag attached of €49.95 and a pair of M & S moss green chinos, price tag of £19.95.Oops soz, got sleeve caught up🫢
In another shop I almost bought a b/n linen dress by Baukjen in a navy & cream check pattern priced at £10 but the checks were so badly misaligned it would have driven me nuts, I would have expected better from a premium brand! This it it in all its wonky glory😡12 -
@Miró lovely Massimo D shirt! I'd have bought the Baukjen as it is so pricey new, but I am probably (ok, definitely) not as fastidious as you about check alignment.
@DigForVictory I was fine with the saddler's clamp, but hair toys? Made of antler horn?! Truly next level in the recycling stakes...
I dig a smash and grab in my local town earlier today. Pick of the bunch was a pair of £4.99 Trespass shorts in quick dry/UV proof material. Sadly don't fit me but perfect for partner on dog walks. Am envious as I have a weird obsession with well-made outdoors-y clothes, like a slightly demented scout master. But at least someone is going to make use of them.
Moving on; I also snapped up an H&M skirt for £6. Very flouncy white layers with navy polka dots. I wouldn't usually buy H&M second-hand (not throwing shade, I like their stuff but you have to be careful with what you buy I find when it comes to second-hand as some of it lasts well and some doesn't) but this is carefree and summery and I'm off on a river cruise the first week of July and I think it'll be just the thing.
A Seasalt Larissa shirt in a nice floral pattern in blues and yellows. Size 18, so either I will keep as an oversized thin layer to cover up in the sun, or my mother in law can have it. £4.99. It's 100% cotton so perfect for this time of year.
An Edina Ronay cosmetic bag - well sort of clutch/purse/bag. Could not resist - bright yellow, genuine leather. would never buy new, but at £3.99 it had to come home with me. You can see it in purple/green/pewter here: https://www.finga-nails.com/product-tag/designer-makeup-bag/
A copy of a !!!!!! Francis hardback to start off a 50th birthday box for a friend of mine (long-standing joke between us) and a hardback first edition of a Karl Ove Knausgaard memoir with beautiful illustrations. Both £2.50.

Has anyone heard of “Capsule your ultimate wardrobe staples”?
I succumbed & bought Another Frock (black with pink red & green floral sprigging) for this blinking wedding (‘semi formal garden party’ I ask you) but it’s not transparent. The lass in Barnardo’s not only sorted me an easy swap receipt but also helped me pick a fascinator that absolutely colour matches one of the colours of the floral print. (@Miró, I thought of your ruthless thoroughness & so we checked in daylight, fascinator against fabric - it's definitely a match for the pink, whereas the cream one not at all even for the wash label.)
I tried it on at home & it’s just short enough for me to walk in so long as I use the waist tie & blouse the top a bit… Still change from a tenner for frock & fascinator & I can wear it with existing black footwear. Whether I need the full slip is now more moot but the cycle shorts are definite!Trying to find the frock online I think the brand may target women of a certain (hefty) size (no complaints!) and I certainly had to overcome giraffe panic at the sheer blinding length of it but my width mops up several inches…11 -
I've had a very tiring and trying week so yesterday I sneaked in a quick side trip to my favourite BHF shop and bought some dvds to cheer me up (3 for £1) as well as a copy of Mrs Miniver for £2 because I so enjoyed the book and when it was reissued the new publishers said the film was excellent. I also bought a blue basball cap, £6, some hair clips, £3.50, and a collection of Clive James essays, £2. I used to enjoy his newspaper articles so am looking forward to reading them altogether.
Please pardon my including the propagator where I'm rearing some rather delicious sounding tomatoes from a packet I found in a drawer the other day and the food waste bin which I know aren't especially photogenic, I must have a kitchen declutter soon.
Then I just thought I'd have a look in the dresses in case there was anything in 100% cotton or linen and found this rather 50s style print dress reduced to half price so paid £7.75.
I'm not sure if it isn't really too dark for this time of year but it has got pockets and a good quality side seam zip and seems to have been made by Woolrich in Italy according to the label although I can't find it on their website now.
I'm off to a village fete tomorrow afternoon so might wear this and my new hat if it's as hot as I think it's going to be."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."
