Morning all. Glad your wall held, Dizzy. Idiot drivers!
A slow start today as I had a bad night and have woken up with a sore throat. But my planned trip to meet up with a friend has been cancelled because she has got the 'flu, so today is a bonus for sorting photos.
Yesterday I managed to
- declutter leftover holly from the utility into the garden bin
- take down one set of lights from the LR
- move bowls of hyacinths from the utility to the DR, kitchen and LR
- water all the house plants
- declutter several chocolates and mince pies (only a few of each left now)
- sort some of the loose papers on my desk
- reinstate some of the info in my phone calendar (info shared with DH, so we can both see each other's commitments) which DH had somehow managed to delete from absolutely everywhere
- watch the BBC2 quiz programmes
- sort all the loose photos of my DC by year, and throw out 3 unwanted pictures (many more will go in the second sort).
So far today I have
- done the finance check and moved money around
- FUPA clean, dry washing
- loaded the DW after breakfast (but it's still waiting for 2 more items from upstairs before it will be switched on)
- completed Wordle in 3 and Strands with just one hint, and so far have 2 lines of Connections with one life left
- done 2 online jigsaws.
Better knuckle down to some proper work!
I still need to
- remember to take things out of the freezer for tea
- re-enter more diary dates (this will involve phonecalls to check with dentist and podiatrist)
- sort more of the loose papers on my desk
- supervise the men who are replacing our neighbour's fence at the front, to make sure they clear up properly
- remove baubles and Christmas lights from DR and kitchen
- walk Rosie while the sun is shining and the temperature above freezing: we might all go out to the Common, or visit the café in the Forest (though there's still plenty in the fridge for lunches until next week)
- watch the BBC2 quiz programmes
- sort more photos, one year at a time, in chronological order, whilst being ruthless about which ones to keep.
Hope everyone has a good day xxx

It's a lazy start to the day for me but I need to get some stuff done today as only a few days until I'm back at work.
My list for today
Clean and tidy up the kitchen
HHpaperwork
Clean the bathroom and remove any rubbish
Do some work on decluttering the spare room.
Take the dog for a long walk
Organise school/work bags for next week
I think that is everything that I need to get done today.6 -

Honey_Bear said:I'm going to go to the tip, CS and Morribunds to drop off a couple of cat beds and Kelpie's beautiful harness at the local animal rescue dropbox. It's so soft and I still miss him so that's a real wrench but I won't have a dog that big again so it has to go and the cats only used those beds when they were newly adopted kittens so there's no need to keep them.Today's declutters are sorted, counted and listed, ready to go at the next opportunity. So, obviously, Higgs had to get into one of the cat beds while I was ferrying out the surplus to requirements stuff and stacking it all in the car, so that's had a reprieve and it's now under my desk next to the radiator and dog bed. If it gets used, great, if not it'll be on it's way out. Fortunately he could only use one at once so the other one is in the Morribunds local animal rescue centre collection bin.The tip was ever so slightly weird. There was an expected queue, but the guy on the gate who's there to check drivers are eligible to tip and say which gate/silo stuff should go in, downloaded his marriage woes to me and is clearly pretty distraught by his wife texting him at 11.30pm on New Years Eve to say she's left him. After that conversation, which took longer than it should have for obvious reasons, when I drove up the ramp there were masses of spaces, so there's a queue because that convo seems to be on Rinse and Repeat. So wishing people one doesn't know a Happy New Year carries risks, it seems.Belovéd is home, we've gone through the cookery books I don't want and he's all 'That's signed by HGW, that could be worth something,' and 'Lxx may want that' for starters (this is exactly why I wait for him to go to London before decluttering), he now firmly understands there is absolutely nothing he can say that will interfere with my 2025 Declutter Plan. And he's got a pile of cookery books in his office because they are nothing to do with me any more. He can keep whatever he likes, just not in my spaces. He was very good about about the 12 cotton shopping bags he's collected over the years, one went in the bin, five I'm going to use to get stuff down from the attic and then wash and donate, and he's got half a dozen left. As he only ever uses one at a time, at some point he'll prune them but he's not at that stage yet. He rather unwisely said, once he'd put the six he's keeping away, 'There's masses of space out here now.'That's the point. I want space, not stuff. He's in no doubt about that now.Better is good enough.6

Mount washmore has been tackled (as refuse to wash anything NYE or Day) some on the airer by the dehumidifier, some tumbled and already packed away..
Kitchen has been given a good clean and lots of things recycled or binned where applicable.
OH fixed sofa legs, so took the opportunity to give it a good clean and the space around/behind it, again more gubbins recycled or chucked away! 🥳
Thats the front room mostly cleaned since the decs came down, now I can properly select shelves/drawers to attack in the next few weeks.
Cats bowls all washed and replaced..
Bathroom S/S
Cuppa and list writing/journaling time..
Then dinner to be made, not that we fancy much, our appetite still not fully recovered from the Yule lurgies.. could be beans on toast 😋

The second dentist trip and the pharmacy combined took two hours out of my day! They were running soooooo late.I’ve decided to put a pin in the other jobs so I can play with the kids instead. I’m feeling exhausted anyway so probably just as well. I’m totally wanting 2025 to be the year of balance.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Oh Dizzy it must be so stressful, I know you have been flooded before and I can't imagine what it must feel like. Hugs x
And HB I love the fact that the man at the tip was getting free counselling from people waiting to get in, which was clearly more important than keeping the queue moving! You are doing so well, it's frustrating when loved ones are not on the same page with decluttering but you just have to do what you can.
Back to the paid stuff today, but there was a bit of a sense that we will start properly on Monday so a lot of drinking coffee, chatting and faffing went on. I slept badly so wasn't very focused anyway. WFH tomorrow but I will finish early (sneaking off for a facial) and stick half a day down as holiday.
DH has taken the tree down, hoovered, mopped floors and tidied. It was noticeable how much better the place looked which was much appreciated. He also made a very nice veggie bolognese for tea. Long may this continue!
