Happy New Year everyone!Welcome back redofromthestart (sorry to hear your sad news too) and twinklie.Well our Christmas was a bit spread out, as I went down with a sickness bug on Christmas Eve, so present exchanging with various family members and in our little family was done over a few days. Thankfully, no-one else caught the sickness bug, so my cleaning and the fact that we all slept separately must have helped.I always try to get all of our bedding and washing completed before the new year, as I read that it was unlucky to do it on New Year's Day, but alas, our washing basket is very much still full due to the backlog from when I was ill, so tomorrow the WM will be on most of the day.Today's tasks are to:
- Update my new calendar and diary with all of the important dates for the year that I'm already aware of.
- Take down and put away Christmas Tree (need to get DH to look and see if we have some spare bulbs too as I noticed a couple were out this year).
- Get DS2 to tidy up some of his lego so we can reset the living room.
- Make sure all Christmas presents have homes.
- Prep some of the veg we still have from Christmas for the freezer.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20179 -

Honey_Bear said:Happy New Year everyone! May 2025 bring all of us peace, goodwill and health.Welcome back Redo, and I'm sorry to hear your sad news.Today:- I will declutter one item of clothing, one book and one item of kitchen equipment.- I will also continue with writing the Declutter 2025 Plan.- I will write my Christmas thank you cards.- I will sweept the kitchen floor. And I completely forget to add the one item of food that has to be decluttered too. This is what comes of not having The Plan finished and ready to rock. But at least the kitchen floor is swept, the dog walked in the rain, yesterday's laundry shuffled so that only one airer is now festooned, Strands with no hints, all four lines on Connections and Wordle in four. It's a start.Better is good enough.7

Thank you all for the welcome and the condolences. Lovely to see some familiar names. @kazwookie cats, gardening and a mutual friend in Greenbee. I am still in contact with a few original flyers via FB too.
I want to at least make some progress today. I did do S&S on the bathroom and kitchen yesterday. Really need to clear the woodburner ashes out, hoover downstairs (joys of five cats and a dog), and set the DW running. DS1 kindly built my filing storage yesterday so it would make sense to tidy my tiny study today and take it back to a pleasant place to be without being surrounded by sadmin.
Littlest cat thinks this is a bad idea and I should stay and play with her.

Tree cutting down man coming tomorrow, as weather too bad today and I agree.Chainsaw on order.Looking for 2 or 3 new fruit trees.Cats fed, it would seem we are feeding 5 cats atm!
, we set up wildlife cam last night on feeding bowls, 2 additional cats seen tucking in, my lazy cats no where to be seen to chase them out. So for the next few nights the outside cat flap will be locked both ways.

Back home now from a lovely day and evening with DSiL and BiL, not a million miles away from where Narc0 was. Testing journey home, what with the weather and a moronic level of idiots out and about, but I am back in the comfies, have had a cuppa (extra special new tea received from DSiL), and for once have achieved the list without lifting a finger 😉.I may start taking some of the Christmas Stuff down as I am sick of the sight of it, or I may just sit and write a list instead about what I could do. Infinitely preferable, I think.6 -
Happy New Year
I've spent most of the day chilling on the sofa apart from taking food out that needs to defrost for dinner. DH has been working on decluttering the spare room.
My list for the rest of today
HHpaperwork
Put the last of festive presents away
Assist DH to make the dinner
Check banking and update payments
Take the dog for a long walk
Wash up dishes and tidy up the kitchen

Hi all
DS2 has been returned to the big city. I am feeling a little lost but determined to put a positive spin on it as we had 10 wonderful days with him. As I said to DH we have a lot to be thankful for.
When we got back I spent an hour or so trying to restore some sort of order in the kitchen, including checking the contents of the fridge and putting Christmas stuff away. The recycling has also been put out for collection. We have some beef in the SC so will have a roast dinner then a restful evening before work tomorrow.
I feel the need to make to do lists.7 -
I did everything on my list and also found the spare filters for the vacuum and washed the filthy ones.
Still pottering at my office stuff and need to vacuum before I add the new cabinet in.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Over 100 items sorted and decluttered in bags which have made it as far as the front door, plus two boxes full of stuff that can go to the CS just past the tip. Because I'm doing several categories at once I'm filling in a spreadsheet to keep track of where I need to plug gaps. I'm okay with a couple of categories for a couple of days so I can concentrate on those that are going to be tougher. Today, at least one of everything and much more in some categories. Also, recycled a load of pretty cardboard boxes from the attic because if I didn't have time to make chocolates this Christmas, I don't know when I will. No point in keeping them.Absolutely nothing added to the Declutter Plan because I wanted to get on with doing it and that's fine. When I run out of energy I can sit at my desk for a morning or a day and add to it. The Plan is half on the computer and half in my head and that's enough to be working at the moment. My intention is to go to the tip and CS tomorrow, then to get a small tin of white silk paint. The tin I thought I could use on the bathroom window sill is rusty and so the lid dropped a whole pile of cack into the paint. It's very, very old, so a small new tin will be the perfect replacement. And I need a bit of filler on the sill before I repaint it so I'll do that tomorrow morning before I go out.Load of darks and bedding twirling in the WM because tomorrow is dry and I want to peg two loads out first thing.Belovéd is back tomorrow so I want all this first tranche out of the house before he gets a chance to inspect it.Better is good enough.7
