Morning all,
I believe it is Tuesday, but willing to be proved wrong.
Thank you, HB (and Kaz!) - for making me smile and so glad I am not alone! I am thinking of dropping DH at the station to catch up with HB’s Beloved, as having time to do “marvellous things without him standing over my shoulder” sounds like bliss just now…
Minimal (ahem) flying today as we are off to exchange Christmas presents with DSiL and BiL. Then Christmas will have finally left the house and I can get it tidied away. Watch out for Demon Flying for the end of the week 🤣.
Right, must get some glad rags together. Have a lovely day all x7 -
Good morning 😁
I hope everyone had a good Christmas. I'm afraid I have been missing in action since October! I haven't caught up on the thread, so hugs, sticks & spoons to those that need them.
We have had a hectic Christmas. My sister & BiL were here Christmas day & boxing day - the 1st Christmas we have spent together for at least 30 years! I'm all sistered out now! 😂 DD1 has also visited with DGS - she stays at my mum's & is heading home today. DH is at work, & DS is still in bed so I am alone 😊 It is lovely & quiet! 😂 It is time to reset the house, I think.
So far I have updated my to do list, done WMx2 (1st load in TD), fed & medicated NDN's cat, had breakfast & checked the bank accounts. I am currently being distracted by the famous five......
I think I will start removing some clutter, erm, I mean, Christmas decorations!8 -
Morning all,
My list for today
Take the dog for a long walk Not as long as I would have liked but the dog wasn't keen on the wind (its wet and rather windy)
Ensure all beds are made
HHpaperwork
Do some work on the spare room, decluttering it to make it into an office.
Get the required food out of the chest freezer in the garage
Check online sales as needing some new bed linen
I think that is everything that I need to get done today. I hope everyone has a lovely day.

Sofa covers changed, bedding changed, washing all done and about to go on airers. Dailies done, dog walked, admin checked and popped to shop. Have also done some of the knitting which along with puzzles will be most likely how I'll spend this afternoon.Spend less now, work less later.8

I've not bought any dec's for years as I was else where in the world for years at Christmas time.Going to have a look on line for a chain saw now, as mine has stopped!! grrFire cleaned, logs in, ash outKitchen sortedSausages out to defrostCats fedTinsel in hallway downBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Sorry to hear your chainsaw has died permanently O Chainsaw Queen. As to 'Why?' - he knows. What he doesn't ask is 'How?' which means his clutter is a permanent fixture but that's okay because there will come a point when he'll be jealously inspired by my empty cupboards, drawers and shelves and will do some decluttering around the edges and I'll be suitably impressed, as in 'Oooooh, so clever, so good, so impressive!' when one box of useless gibble leaves the house. But that's okay, it's not his stuff I'm responsible for even when it's more than slightly in the way.I started a bit late this morning because I was reading around a particular psychological state of mind or maladaptation which I found incredibly illuminating and particularly helpful right now. It's not a concept I'd even heard of, but it was mentioned in passing in a YouTube video on a subject I'm exploring at the moment. It's amazing what your mind hides from you, cognitive dissonance I believe that's called, and I think it's because we're not ready to face the truth about something, a coping mechanism if you will. Rather like hoarding, I suppose. Anyway, apparently I'm now ready for the truth about an aspect that I rather think has been holding me in this Rinse and Repeat hoarding pattern for far to long and it produced several lightbulb moments almost straight away. When people give up drinking we're all told that we need to face our demons which was what the drinking was about, which I have to say in my case was bunkum. Dealing with my hoarding - the demons are having their ar$es whopped. So today I've cleared out a big cupboard shelf which was groaning with stuff. Stage 1 - save the stuff I actually will use and ditch the stuff I had good intentions (oooh - welcome back Good Intentions) about but was never, apparently, going to use. And I feel rather faintly saintly because it's all bagged and in the council bin in the back alley, so gone gone gone. I could do with more sessions like that. Anything that can be recycled or donated will be but there are limits.I've also done two loads of washing and will have to do a third despite the overcast weather because Wren had a couple of accidents this morning, my fault, I should have walked her earlier but I was headfirst in a large cupboard. I can get those things vaguely drier outside in the brisk wind and finish them off in the kitchen overnight. So now, I'm about to carry on with the Dehoarding and Decluttering Plan which I'd really, really like to finish today because I wanted to start on 1 January with decluttering one item from at least two categories - books and excess out of date food (I know, I know, sorry sorry sorry, *head hanging in shame*) but these are familial habits I've inherited and it stops here. Then on 2nd January, two items, then 3 on 3rd January and so on. I've done the easy bits in those categories over the past couple of days so this is going to be a real challenge but I'm so up for it. It worked with photographs, it'll work with all the sub-categories I've identified for myself so I'm not on system overload every day when I tackle things.I've done the sums, a 31 Day Declutter results in 496 items gone (January and March), a 28 day month 406 (February), and a 30 day month 465 (April). I haven't counted what's gone or put aside for the CS so far, so with a fair wind behind me I'm hoping for about 2,000 items out of the house by the end of January and I'll carry on until the end of April and see where that leaves the house and my state of mind.Better is good enough.6

New chain saw found online, but not bought yet, as I don't want to spend any more money this year!! it comes with free delivery as well. So I'll buy it tomorrow.Chap coming tomorrow to cut down my rotting Apple tree, it is safer to have him than me to do it, as it is so tall and rotten, I told him it is NYD but it seems he want to be out of his house tomorrow am as his MIL and other relations are coming, so it seems spending a couple of hours tree cutting suits him, I don't really mind when it is done. Wood will be cut up for me and left here, so I have some wood for the woodburner next winter, as he thinks it wil lbe too 'green' to burn now.Ironing is doneJust waiting for 5pm to watch fireworks on my fav beach going offJust got to read meters and enter as price go up 1st, done gas reading, elec is inside.Happy New Year and best wishes xBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Well done HB, sounds like you are making fantastic progress. I have become very aware in the last year of how my low self esteem affects me, and how events in my childhood have contributed to a lack of confidence and difficulty in making friends and connecting with other people. It has only taken me 52 years to work this out and start to make small changes.
We went to the out of town shopping centre today. Not my first choice for a trip out but the weather forecast was dreadful and we all wanted to get out. I bought a few craft supplies because I want to start a scrap book to document my year, one of my ideas for cutting down on screen time on an evening. I didn't look at clothes, shoes or accessories so pleased with that.
Flying has been limited to a few bits of ironing and doing a load of washing (jumpers) and putting them over the airer.
It's our last evening together, DS is going home tomorrow. It will be a quiet one. Enjoy NYE everyone x7 -
Good evening flyladies, I am a lapsed flylady and long term lurker - I used to post on OS as Hex2 but started a new profile when I did my original debt free diary before moving to mortgage free. I infamously briefly got my whole house clean following the fly lady threads (back in 2006 I think) but then we moved house and it never happened again. The toddlers I used to work round are now 20 and 21!
Recently unexpectedly widowed, which was a huge shock, and it is short term important to me to get on top of the house again. Decluttering more than cleaning, but the two are interlinked.
I was deep cleaning kitchen stores this week and found the last few bits of jam making kit that Toots sent to me which sent me back in this direction. I hope you will welcome me back in to the fold.
