A quieter day after the busy one yesterday.
Cleaned a couple of shelves on the living room sideboard - nothing to declutter as there’s not much on either shelf and it’s all used regularly. Cleared out the Christmas card/gift tags box - some items binned and lots to recycling. Was more realistic about old cards to be used for gift tags and those are now on the pile to be used as shopping lists etc. Box can now be put away.
Found recipes for meals for the next couple of days using what we have.
Visitor due tomorrow. No mad panic tidy up needed as the seats are sittable upon. Just need to move a few papers off the coffee table before I go to bed, that’s all. What a big change that is - there have been piles of papers on the chairs since OH moved in 18 months ago.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅16 -
I went to singing group at SA this evening.
I did some more sorting out before I left home.
I have started bags of stuff in the garage ready to leave the house.
Off to bed soon - going to fill my hot water bottle.

Florenceem if you have joint bank / building societies accounts just remember they can only take half if above a certain amount for any care costs as half is yours and can't be touched
Sorted my undies drawers today throwing away any socks with holes and some old knickers I have brought some new bras and realised I have bras of so many different sizesbut decided it was too cold to strip off and try them on, those I'm not sure of have been set aside and what doesn't fix can go to a local lady who collects for a charity.
Whilst in the bedroom I tied my bedside tables and emptied a basket sitting under one of them mainly books. Bag for the rubbish and half dozen books to my sisterLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin21 -

Well that didn’t quite work out as I intended 😉 I started watching Law & Order & promptly fell asleep waking up about 90 minutes later 😔 DH ordered in - burgers & fries. Back to the cheerleading - still the 14th:
weenancy, sorry to hear that the wildfires are showing no sign of abating 😢 I am keeping everything crossed that the winds die down & that there are a couple of days of steady rainfall 🤞& I do hope that your “idiot congresspeople” keep their idiotic ideas to themselves 😞 As to your roommates, polite words escape me 🤬 You do so much for them that they should be falling over themselves to help you out at least once in a while 😡 I am keeping everything crossed that the missionaries ‘step up to the plate’ (hope you like the baseball analogy 😉) 🤞Well done on completing everything else on your weekly schedule 👏 in recognition of all your work, I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ Good luck with Friday’s book sale & dealing with the frogs 🍀 Your ‘thaw dance’ has worked for us so I will double my efforts on the ‘rain dance’ 🤞 Hope that Di is on the mend & will be home soon 🙏 Looking forward to seeing you in the TLC Carriage 😊
GrannyKate, pleased to hear that you are having a bit of a breather before the next round of repairs & decorating 😊 Great decluttering 👏 & good luck with your search for other items to oust 🍀
Great work dealing with such a large frog, foxandflowers 👏 As to This “Frankly horrified at how much money was wasted last year.“ looked at another way, you now know where your money was spent last year & are in a better position to take steps to avoid any waste this year 😊
dND, everything crossed that your son stays safe & that the courageous firefighters are successful in preventing the need for evacuation 🤞🙏 I am also putting in a request for a photo or three of your snowdrops 😊 - just to cheer us all up ☺️
What a beautiful post Duchess2 😍
Excellent decluttering Florenceem 👏 I am relieved to hear that C has not only recognised your hard work selling & raising funds on Vinted but has told you that you have done enough 😮💨 You have definitely done enough 👏
London_1, hope you enjoyed your new knit & craft group 😊
Florenceem, you were right the train had slowed down a little but as is the way of things, once it was mentioned it speeded up again 🤭
foxandflowers, your comment “Florenceem Shhh, you'll wake the driver and we will be off at rocket speed again! I need it to stay slow so I have half a hope of keeping up!” was so right 🙊 Fingers crossed that your house is decluttered soon, now that the paperwork is in order🤞
Excellent decluttering Rootle 👏
MadamMim2013, pleased to hear that you are making use of the TLC Carriage 😊 Good luck with This “I have some 🐸 ‘s that have crept in, need to dissect and clear..” 🍀 which I thought was a very apt way to describe dealing with frogs 😉
Excellent work clearing the garden redofromstart 👏 You are also doing a grand job filling the skip - 90% full 🤩
BlueJ94, good luck 🍀
Dizzycap, you certainly took advantage of the warmer weather yesterday 🤩 I especially like that you managed to get 3 tasks done in one go 👏 I hope you have taken a photo of the newly decluttered & colour coordinated contents of your wardrobe - as a reminder of your success 😊 Good luck with both the spring cleaning & the sort out of the contents behind doors 2 & 3 of the super large wardrobe 🍀 Love This “My daughter & I have agreed that any proceeds from any sales of bags will go towards a short away break for us, so that's something to look forward to” 😍
Brie, how kind of your art teacher 😉 only joking 🙃 perhaps once you have read them you can pass the magazines on to a school for paper crafting 🤞A novel way to find an electrician & well done you for trusting your instincts 😊 A good tradesman of any description is worth their weight in gold 👏
oceanspirit, two successes in one day 🥳 A clean cooker & a frog dealt with 👏
I need a short break so will post this & will come back later 🤞

Hi,
Welcome aboard new passengers.
I am sure I have only been awol for a couple of days and soooo many pages to catch up on. I am sorry to hear about peoples troubles. Your poor friend LiverpoolAnne.
Thank you very much for my gold star Mrs SD. I have a free afternoon tomorrow so I intend to finish off a few nooks and crannies in the kitchen, then it is just a drawer in my bedside table to go through and Mr V's wardrobe.
Interesting elderly frog nibbling today, it feels like progress has been made. We hear that our MP has written to the borough council about the flooding. The county councillor who also visited with him has also sent a letter to the relevant borough council department. Our local town councillor visited without the flood team person this morning. I think she has had a nudge from somewhere as she has ignored our emails for the past 2 years and she is as keen as mustard now. It is her job now to try to find the historical owner for the land which affects the flooding. It used to belong to council A but boroughs were merged bla, bla, bla. So everyone is denying it. Currently it is unclaimed on the land registry. Ultimately it needs a few grand throwing at it for drainage, not a difficult fix. We don't want to just have the work done on land that doesn't belong to us. My builder would love the job. I have never met anyone who loves drains as much as him!
A few ins today, I have been to the £1 chazzer. Clothes not tried on yet so they may not all be staying. Any which way I have got some bargains.
I have sorted another 4 pairs of gold earrings to offer to DD1. If she doesn't want them I will sell them.
The only out has been a magazine passed on to my friend.
Did you see the wolf moon tonight? It was stunning driving over the moors on our way home just as it had risen, orangey pink and massive, tried to take a photo but my phone camera didn't do it justice.
Take care all Vx

@Florenceem - you are both in my thoughts & prayers. Your friend is very misinformed about residential care, so no worrying about that xxI finished my bedroom deep clean and furniture kindly put back by my neighbour. I've gone through half of the bags, put fresh silica gel bags in them, put them in their correct dust jacket and organised & carefully stored them back behind door 2 in the mega wardrobe. I've got some extra space due to decluttering other items which I've divided between a large black charity bag and those items I will eventually start listing in the new tax year. Tomorrow, I'm aiming to do the same for bags behind door 3, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to put all the bags behind door 2, leaving door 3 empty
- That would really make my day with door 1 & 3 empty - I'm determined I'm going to get shot of the mega wardrobe which dominates the complete length of one of the walls in one of the spare bedrooms.

Going to try to shift a whole box of DVDs tomorrow as well as get some other bits on eBay - eBay is moving but very slowly, roll on February 1st payday as it may move the blockage.Still lacking motivation…..don’t know where it’s hiding but hopefully it will reappear soon as I don’t like this mood.Another two lots sold on eBay yesterday and looks like 2 more will go in next day or so as have bids on.Nice lady collected a ten drawer unit from me this morning. Listed on FB local free page and she replied within five minutes= result. Nice to see the floor where it stood. Hoping to get its partner emptied this weekend and then it can go as well.Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Florenceem, so sorry to hear that MrF seems to be getting worse & there is still no diagnosis 😢 Also rather worrying that there is a norovirus outbreak in the hospital 😞 Hopefully the EEG will help with a diagnosis 🤞You are both in my thoughts & prayers.
Great work tackling & completing several frogs Blue_Doggy 👏 Hopefully the heating level in the TLC Carriage is just right 😉 Fingers crossed for your appointment at the Eye Hospital & that you get an early date for your cataract operation 🤞

Started off the day with a power failure - apparently about 1/4 of the town (but didn't include Disneyland). During the hour it was off, little cat (who now weighs 10 pounds so not so little any more) managed to knock over five stacks of boxes in Di's room spilling them and making it impossible to get to the bed to clean up the mattress. I know how I am going to spend my weekend. If I could get the cat to sit still for squirrel videos, Cranky, I sure would try. Went to the eye doctor with disturbing results. Looks like the floaters are going to be there for awhile in my eyes and the macular degeneration is starting. He does think it will be several years yet, but my father had it too. I don't plan to drive for too long anymore anyway. Did manage one load of laundry today, worked at library, did more research on the computer. Taking it easy by coming here. Watched the news, including our President's final address to the Nation. Then watched the news. Still no rain yet, but a couple of more fires have started up in different counties. Managed to fill another sack of trash just from the stuff the cat knocked over. Have a lot to get rid of still. May just put some of it out on the lawn for free. At least I don't have to worry about it getting wet. Our grass has been brown for months. Usually by this time it is nice and green. I don't have to be concerned about finding someone to mow it.
@Liverpool_Anne - sending hugs to your friend. Hope she can find the strength to get through it all.
Take it easy everyone.18 -
Brambling - we have no joint accounts as when we married - Mr F was running a business so it was best not to.
A chap at SA - R has just been housed in the same road as me. He has been helped by SA as was a rough sleeper. He has offered to help me - I have some large items to shift so will call on Grandson J and R.
I was awake early but not surprising as I am going to bed at 9 - just so tired.
I will take stuff to the charity shop at 9.
Pleased that there is no table top sale this month.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
