Afternoon declutterati!
After years of lurking, and very occasional posting, I'm back with a purpose for 2025!
I have SO MUCH that needs gone - whether chucked, donated, or sold I don't care - that it will take months, but I've got to the point where I can't cope any more. I'm also in the middle of getting divorced, no idea yet if I'll still be in our home or somewhere else, either way we MUST crack on with it all.
I have two teenagers still at home, one of whom is excellent at minimalism, and one not, but they will both be on board for this declutter!
Going back to read some more from the start - thanks so much MrsSD for keeping this thread going once again!

I went back into town with more stuff for the charity shop - feels good to have stuff leaving the house.
I collected my new specs and threw the broken pair in the bin.
Today was SA lunch club so I went - brought my dinner and pudding home as I am too busy to eat there.
I divided the dinner in two - had one lot just now - very yummy and so simple to ping for 2 minutes. I will keep the other portion for Friday as I have a home made pastie in the fridge for tomorrow.
I will divide the pudding too as my friend piles up my meals.
I had a call from the hospital - dietitian to talk about Mr F.
Off to the hospital soon.

@Florenceem
I'm glad you have companions at the hospital occasionally and ones that can prayer with you. I hope you find it a comfort.
Meanwhile - ignore the doom-mongerers. They know not what they say.
And hoping to settle a jumping frog this afternoon when I talk to yet another IFA about how to deal with my main work pension. First said they couldn't do anything as I'm not British (ridiculous!), second because it's a hybrid scheme. Third one works on hybrid and final salary schemes so hopefully can get it all sorted properly. And hopefully at a decent price.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @Florenceem how worried you must be. I hope you see an improvement in MrF today. I’ll have everything crossed for you.
General tidying and bed stripped today. New shower brush bought and old one binned. Some items unboxed and condensed, so a fair amount of recycling done and another couple of bits for the cs box. Have 2 car wheels to take to tyre place. Have to pay to recycle those. Will do that when I go food shopping on Friday. Kill 2 birds and save petrol. Also have a car battery and batteries from Xmas deccies to recycle at tip, but want to try and at least half fill the car before I book that. My mojo seems to have come back from its holibobs, so will try & tackle the ironing before it disappears again😀. Well done on catching up with the runaway train @Mrs_Salad_Dodger. Sterling work. 💐 Success to everyone in your decluttering efforts, however small. Even one item is more space in your house. Let’s hope this good weather holds for a few days☀️18 -
- Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Wednesday: of course going to bed so late meant that I slept through to 13:15 😔 So am now completely discombobulated 😕 Oh well, it is what it is. DH & DSis cancelled their trip to the Antiques Centre as they also got up later than intended 😉 they will go next Wednesday instead. Still cheerleading posts dated the 13th:
redofromstart, a very busy Monday & you are certainly making optimum use of your skip 👏 80% full already 🤩 Please be careful when you are pruning the roses to get to the garden clutter 🙏
Excellent decluttering TC77, a steady stream of items leaving your home 👏 Please, please don’t delay completing & filing your tax return 🙏 as a fine is certainly the very last thing you need at the moment. Re DD2’s room, is there any chance that she can help with the decluttering especially disposing of the books🤞maybe this coming weekend 🙏 Good luck 🍀
charlies_tribe, a novel excuse for losing homework 😉 Well done negotiating your first ever train journey 👏 Sorry to hear that DGS is unwell 🤒 & I am keeping everything crossed for his speedy recovery 🤞🙏
🥳 now starting the cheerleading for posts dated the 14th 💃 I am celebrating by making myself a cuppa 😉
Liverpool_Anne, you certainly had a very busy Monday 🤩 I was pleased to hear that the dentist appointment went well 😊 Re the car, I am keeping everything crossed that the repair to the car can be done quickly & is not expensive 🤞 I will join the guy in the garage in his hilarity at your tale of The Mini 🤣 Reading about the chap at OH’s house, how very bizarre 🤨 Please stay safe 🙏
Excellent decluttering Dizzycap 👏 & yippee to dropping off so much at the CS 🥳 Good luck with both the selling & the spring cleaning 🍀
TC77, shame about the boxes 😔 Just wondering if you have any suitcases that could be used if you don’t manage to source any more boxes 🤔
Floss, sorry I missed your departure 😔 I hope you have a lovely holiday in Malta 😊 Re This “is there an itinerary for the Decluttering Train's journey? I can't remember if we ever got to Japan for the cherry blossom last year?” - I got completely sidetracked so after the initial trip through the Canadian Rockies we never quite made our Orient Express type journey or Japan 😔 Once I am on an even keel with the cheerleading I will turn my thoughts to both journeys 😊
Florenceem, how odd that your phone number was missing from MrF’s records 🤨 Good job you checked 🙂 Hoping that you got some better news about MrF yesterday 🙏
wishus, what is this “still only on……. 🧐 Remember every item out is a win 😊
Struggling a bit with my concentration so will post this, find something to do & come back in a little while. Hope you are all having as good a day as possible & that the weather is being kind 🤞 Here it is grey & overcast but positively tropical with a high of 10°C & a low of 7°C 😉

Hooray; last two bags gone to the charity shop with a large pyrex dish and some other baking and bbq items.
We also decluttered some money replacing my rear windscreen wiper and I now have one that works properly.

@Florenceem If I recall correctly you have already told us that your home is yours, so please don't worry about it being taken from you. I hope you have more information about what is ailing MrF soon. Floss- the house is in 2 names but unequal shares - I own 95%.
Been to visit Mr F - different nurse in charge today - I asked to speak to a Doctor.
Very nice Dr came to see me - they are going to do an EEG and a lumbar punch to rule out various things.
I couldn't see a difference with Mr F but Dr said his level of consciousness had fallen.
While I was there the feeding bag finished - nurse said that they have a 4 hour gap before starting another one.
Just had a half portion of today's pudding - apple crumble and creamy custard.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Sending hugs @florenceem.
Busy day today.went back to finishing off painting before stairs and landing carpet arrives next week.I had intended touching up the small areas that we had missed with emulsion and then painting the upstairs doors. However once I had opened emulsion it seemed a shame to stop! We had a lot of marks on walls in kitchen and dining room and they are all white so being frugal and deciding not to waste paint I steamed ahead we had a little bit of condensation damp in one corner so I washed it all down and went over that complete corner with a mould sealant and will finish painting over that tomorrow .problem is that I need to get upstairs doors painted before next week and the the dining room furniture has all been pulled into middle of room .we are in more of a muddle than usual However I have decluttered a load of rubs, mould and dirt from dining area and still have kitchen to do.
