I will try. With the pantry challenge it shouldn't be too hard. Our car decided not to work a few weeks ago and we didn't get any shopping apart from essentials like milk and bread. We survived and DH was surprised at how well we did. DS2 is coming home today, then DS1 will be here on Weds night for a couple of days. DD is working until Christmas Eve. I'm working from home tomorrow, then off until 9th Jan. Cannot wait!! Merry Christmas to you and DH xxpurplevamp, every item out is a success 👏 Now is the time of year to relax & enjoy the festivities 🥳 Please have a lovely Christmas with DH 🥹 & good luck getting DH on board with the Pantry Challenge 🍀 As for This “I can't wait to start in full force next year. I feel like my house is going to burst! Is there a new thread started yet to join?” the new thread is prepped & will be put up at the weekend 😊

Thank you Mrs_S_D that is such a lovely thing to saydeni_debt-free_dreamer, no need to apologise for being AWOL, RL has a habit of keeping one busy 😞 However so happy to hear that you have had some great times with your family 🥹 especially attending your DGD’s 1st birthday party 🥳 Excellent work with the regular decluttering 👏 & in recognition I am awarding you a medal 🏅 Congratulations on negotiating your Full Time job to Part Time 🥳 your happiness shines through in your post 🥹 Please remember to use a good chunk of your free time on pursuits that make you happy 😊 not just decluttering giggle 🙊
TC77, well done on starting to gather together tax info 👏 Hopefully being so well organised means that completing your Tax Return will be a doddle 🤞🙏
& thank you for my medal too.
It was my choice to reduce my hours and I'll be doing .64 FTE according to my boss!
I've had decorating done this year so I really want to continue my decluttering to make the best of my house. I will definitely be doing things that make me happy - I started to learn crochet this year and will be carrying on with my blanket (currently it wouldn't keep much of me warm, maybe one thigh
Like @TC77, I've started my tax return too!
Looking forward to the decluttering thread and more inspiration next year.
Love to everyone

Helloooooo!
best laid plans etc - slept most of Saturday so everything is a day behind. But the presents are all wrapped, mount ironing is now a hill and I have one day left of work.We did a shop this evening in Mrrysons and I had a bit of a funny turn. Temp rose I got all dizzy and thought I was going to pass out….luckily hubby was there, got me to a chair and then finished the shopping SAS style.im much better now think it was a sudden drain in energy and loud shop music.
Drumroll …… last medical appointment of the year!!!!!!!!! With my NET specialist (complicated rare cancer) who said the little hitchhikers are stable, spleen is stable and blood tests are normal so my monthly jabs are doing their job.
i went over the breathlessness (again) and she is going to refer me in the New Year. I also went over the way Creon mucks my system up so she has changed that and will see how I get on. All in all a much better end to the year than start!

Laundry done, dried most - just a wee bit on the airer. Will get upstairs tomorrow and put away.
Dinner from freezer and used last of sprouts with use by date of 07/11. Why do they put dates on fresh veggies? people have eyes and can see if they are no good. I’m still using a bag of baby potatoes from August.@Mrs_Salad_Dodger, DH will be thrilled with his medal, thank you. Just waiting for the spilt compost to dry then I can sweep properly and get it into a bag.
Spent today going through my 26 for 2026 list and my budgeting goals for 2026.Had a surprise visit from DFriend.
Otherwise, a quiet but beautiful blue sky day.

- Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Monday continued: I decided to go out & then had to wait 25 minutes for a bus ☹️ Mind you I was luckier than the lady I sat next to - she had waited over 35 minutes 😞 Fortunately the bank was still open so banked December’s PB win. Then nipped into M&S for eggs & cheese + as a concession to Christmas I picked up a box of mixed crackers for cheese 😅 Only waited 5 minutes for return bus & when I got back I finally delivered the neighbours XMas cards 🙊 DH took the car to As** & ended up spending a small fortune on an excess of Christmas goodies 😞 Dinner was beef in gravy with mash & green beans. Wudupa. Paid the milkman & gave him his Christmas card + ££ - if anyone deserves it, he definitely does 👏

purplevamp, sounds like DS1 & DS2 will help with your ‘Pantry Challenge’ 😉 Enjoy your time off ☺️
Deni_debt-free_dreamer, hopefully your boss isn’t too upset with you reducing your hours 😉😉 Having had some decorating done it is definitely an incentive for increased decluttering 😊 Well done on starting your tax return 👏
Muddy_Walker, sorry to hear about your “funny turn” 😔 I do hope you are OK & are fully recovered 🙏 Please, please take it easy 🙏🙏 This “Drumroll …… last medical appointment of the year!!!!!!!!! Great work getting the laundry done suzeesu2000 👏 Re This “Why do they put dates on fresh veggies? people have eyes and can see if they are no good.” I don’t really have an answer 🤔 I suppose it could be that sm are afraid of being sued so shift the blame to the customer if the food is eaten after date 🤨 How lovely that your friend made a surprise visit ☺️
Sleep tight everyone 😴

Great health news Muddy xx Great pics, love the new furniture colour and your festive fairy for your Christmas tree x.
I will see if my phone has got over it's update and will let me post a photo.
Mrs SD, we will be having a very quiet Christmas. On the 25th we will go to DD1's in Sheffield for a vegan feast. The Southern contingent are celebrating with in laws and my Step children will all be at work within the NHS in Nottingham. (did see them all last week for Mr V's Birthday) We have plans for a pub meal with friends on 27th then visiting Oxford on 30th. That's it. Mr V is working every evening up to Christmas Eve then a break until NYE.
Today I have a lot of laundry to do, bedding etc. I am also pottering getting various bags ready to take to Mum, DD1 and DS's house. Returning things they brought food in and food for us to take with us. I have found a fabulous gold lurex jumper that I got my Mum to knit me in the 80's. I just told her, I want a short tight body, V neck ,bell sleeves and she came up trumps. I have finally admitted It will never fit me again in a million years. I will take it to see if DD1 wants it. Hope so, it is a work of art.
Walking, singing reindeer given away on thrift. I am also going to list some faux mistletoe and Christmas roses for crafting.
A glass knocked over and decluttered.

What a cute dog!

I just saw a local artist and asked him if he would do a pet portrait of my dog. I am about to send him a picture of her. We are taking her for a walk on the beach Christmas and Boxing day and lots of people around here do that. It gets quite busy.
I made up another donation bag and it contained a Christmas wreath so my husband just went and took it to the shop so someone could buy it before Christmas. I suppose some people buy decorations after Christmas for the new year anyway.
I am looking forward to having a very restful Christmas break. This year has felt very busy. I had my last class of the year today, my 44th class of 2025. I have booked three classes for 2026, but I'm not doing as many next year. I will probably end up doing some decluttering during this time at home.
