Hi all, I have had a busy few days without decluttering much. OH has been at home on "holiday" and getting under my feet 😂. We have done the shop but it has not all yet been put away and is due to be sorted today 😁. We have visited various friends and delivered lots of gifts etc and eaten lots of nice food 😁. Some things have been turned into meals for the freezer but the kitchen is a mess, something else to be sorted out today 😂. Washing has been done and dried and put away but there is more waiting to be done and despite a session on the ironing there is still a mountain waiting 😂. Usually we are very busy on Christmas eve delivering gifts etc but this year we have managed to get it all done so apart from flowers to various family resting places we are done. OH has gone out early this morning with flowers to complete this so I feel we are ahead of where we usually are 😁.
I have caught up with all the posts and I love all the trees 😁.
Well done to those who have decluttered jobs or parts of jobs. It's a major decision but can be life changing decluttering a lot of stress from your life, hoping for a better work / life balance in 2026 for everyone.
I hope everyone has the best time over the festive season 😁.
@Mrs SD special thanks for all your hard work and lovely comments for us all 😁
Time for another cuppa and an action plan for the day 😂
Hugs to everyone who would like one

Managed to declutter 5 bags of goodies that I had stocked up from Claires Accessories. They always had really good sales over the years so in amongst the absolute bargains I already gave to the kids in our family I managed to create a little hoard.
My pal has 2 daughters and my neighbour has 3 so bagged up all the remaining goodies which our kids are all too big for and told them to add that to their Christmas pressies - they were both thrilled and I am equally as happy to have gotten some space back.
Have a lovely Christmas Eve everyone!Debt Free - 4th June 202514 -
Well done Willowtree, wishing you a peaceful New year. xx
Got a photo this morning from the lady who I gave the walking, singing reindeer to. Her children's elf on a shelf arrived riding it this morning. Hahaha.
I have carefully saved the tissue and cellophane from my festive flowers gift, such a shame to bin it, I know , I can't help myself. I will use the snowflake tissue but I promise to throw the cellophane if I don't re use that.
More visitor bedding in the wash. Don't usually wash it after one use as it's the same people who come to stay but DD1 had a monster cold. I know the germs will probably not be viable now but I just don't like the idea of using it again. I purposely left it this long after her visit for the germs to die off.
I can hear Mr V jushing some soup I made last night whilst he was at work. It is shall I say a little caramelised. I have lost the knack of cooking with gas. Caramelised parsnip soup on the menu today.
Off to see my Mum shortly as she will be out gadding tomorrow. I will take her the unused dates and marzipan from one of the things I made for her and DIL's Dad. She loves all that rich Christmas stuff. I wouldn't thank you for Christmas cake, mince pies or Christmas pudding.
Happy Christmas lovely people. Vxxxxxx:15 -
Sent eldest Granddaughter home last night weighed down with baked goods. More to go to the neighbours this afternoon. Decluttered two hours this morning with a bracing walk with a friend to clear the cobwebs, it was beautiful. She also had soup and hot rolls for lunch when we got back to mine.
Trying to make some room for the visit from children and grandchildren tomorrow but there will be so much more space after they've taken their gifts with them!

Just made over 100 sausage rolls for my four locust like grandsons who can eat their own weight in the darned things
Happy Christmas to everyone, I am sitting with my feet up now and not doing another thing today.

Considering getting out the Christmasy gift bags and the stockings but am wondering if this will just get him indoors upset as I don't think he's got me anything. So I'm trying to be jolly watching Santa declutter gifts all over the place.....Official NORAD Tracks SantaI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Oh my it’s been a day. Did usual morning chores then, around 12:30 decided I must wash the kitchen floor or we will be bumping our heads on the ceiling. So, turned the tap on for some steamy hot water for the bucket…..no steam…..not even tepid. Gas boiler decided to throw a hissy fit today. So, no hot water and no heating. Thankfully, we’re registered as a “vulnerable household” due to disabilities and they got a lovely plumber man here by 16:30. Oh, I could have kissed him. I didn’t, wouldn’t want to scare the poor chap, well, not before he fixed my boiler anyway. 1700hrs finally got the heating on for a couple of hours, The weather has been so cold here today, real icy wind.Anyways, a HUGE thank you to @Mrs_Salad_Dodger for being our amazing mum.Wishing everyone a VERY merry Christmas however you are spending the day. Thank you all as well for being such lovely people and making this such a fantastic place.Sleep tight, no peeping for Santa! xxSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

A Christmas Story
The Snowman
Back in the 1970's just before Christmas me and my Mum went to the local hall where they were holding an indoor Christmas Fayre. They also had a raffle stall and Mum purchased some tickets.
Our ticket number matched and we won a prize. We were both amazed and thrilled as we had never won anything before.
They handed us our winning item and we were delighted to see it was a candle in the shape of a snowman. He had a lovely smile and was all dressed up. I was around 10 or 11 and I don't think I'd seen anything quite like it before.
We took it home and showed Dad who was just bemused and then we put the snowman on top of the tv. We agreed that he was just too cute to set fire to.
As the decades passed every Christmas the big box of xmas decs would be brought down from the loft and Mr Snowman would take his rightful place on top of the tv every year.
This continued until around 2002 when the bulky tv was replaced with one of the newer slimline versions and Mr Snowman was instead placed on the front corner of the unit supporting the tv.
Dad passed away just after Christmas 2010 and the next Christmas that followed I looked at the snowman and asked Mum if we should light him now. She said we could if I wanted to (no sentimentality there then😂) but I just couldn't bear to see his face melt.
Mum passed away a few days before Christmas the following year. This is not a sad story. It's more about what each of us get out of Christmas. I was fortunate to have 45 Christmases with my family. I still love Christmas but now it's more low key for me and even without the people I miss it can still be enjoyable.
Mr Snowman's been in my life almost half a century and I'll never set fire to that cute smile of his even though I'm sure when I'm gone someone else will just declutter him to a skip. Fancy being outlived by a candle...
Wishing you ALL a wonderful Christmas whatever you are doing and looking forward to an invigorating 2026 with lots of decluttering!
