Well done @Brie.We did my in laws glasses while we were clearing their house. They had loads of sherry/port glasses. My sister in law is always short of port glasses so I asked if she wanted some. She said no she didn’t want anything from her parents house. I picked the set I thought she would like the best and wrapped them for her birthday. She laughed when she opened them. I don’t know if she chucked them or not.We only kept one set of beautiful cut glass cocktail glasses from my in laws. I use them for fizz when we have a celebration. No one seems to complain and I don’t have more than five matching flutes so it would look rubbish and i am definitely not buying more.I went to our slightly nicer charity shop today. I asked about formal mens wear and they said they keep dinner jackets and mens suits in stock but they don’t always display them so they are more than happy to take them.13

Evening everyone, been missing in action for a while. Have been reading along but need to participate to stay motivated.
Not much decluttering happening but have made a start:
3 items returned to office (Laptop chargers & dock).
30 items to tip
1 assignment completed for project mgmt course. I'm counting as struggling to find time to complete them.
1 pair Wellies to friend.
I have more clothes coming in than going out. I needed trousers that fit for now. No excuse but was fed up of wearing leggings or same pair of wide leg trousers with elasticated waist! Will address in November after half term. We have booked a week self catering somewhere hot and I cannot wait for sunshine and blue skies.10 -

Tuesday: overcast & dark with a high of 16°C, low of 11°C & a chilly breeze. DH is continuing his weight loss journey & weighing himself on a Tuesday morning (as if he was attending WLP meeting) He is very happy today - as he weighed himself at home & has lost another 1.4 kg 🥳 The wm is on as I have fallen behind with the laundry.
1915 Plastic bottle - recycled
Now I will see how far I get with the cheerleading 😉
Hello & welcome Teaparty_mum 👋 Lovely to meet you & welcome aboard the EDT (The Electric Powered Decluttering Train) Sorry to hear that you aren’t sleeping well 😔 Great work decluttering unneeded/unwanted items & also tidying the kitchen 👏 I look forward to following your decluttering journey 😊
Excellent decluttering purplevamp 👏 Good luck with your listings 🍀
Great work Brambling 👏 & well done on being so mindful of your ‘one in, one out’ policy ….. even if not necessarily immediately 😉 Sorry to hear about your aching hip 😞 although having such a wonderful weekend makes it sound like it was worth it 🥹 Such an interesting family history so I will use the new icon 😊 Excellent decluttering of books 👏 Although I have no idea why This “…. can someone tell me how I can remove twenty books from my book shelves and it looks the same?” is the case 🙁
BlueJ94, sorry to hear that you didn’t sleep well Sunday night/Monday morning 😔 Hopefully you got your suitcase packed ready for Saturday 🤞
vulpix, not sure I would know what day of the week it was/is if I had been up & about playing with an energetic toddler at 8.00 a.m. on a Sunday 😬 This “There are no clocks in this house, perhaps they don't believe in time either.” must have been quite unnerving 😧 maybe they rely on natural circadian rhythms 😉 This “My son came home last night and everyone including new Mum has had some very much needed sleep.” is great news 🥹 Hopefully Mum & baby will be home soon 🙏 Lovely comments ☺️ As to This “I may be going home today. Sadly I can't stretch it out and let Mr V do the house move by himself.” are you sure 🙊
Green_hopeful, that was chilly 🥶 Excellent decluttering of your mum’s summer house 👏 Good luck getting all the plants in 🍀
Excellent decluttering Brie 👏 This “OH tutted repeatedly every time I talked about doing this. And now that it's done he's asking what should we plant by them. He's insisting on something fragrant. Who am I to argue!!!?!” made me laugh out loud 😂 Hopefully he will be assisting you in both choosing the plants & planting them 🤞
Thanks for sharing Brambling 😊
That is hilarious daisy_1571 🤣
Excellent decluttering GrannyKate 👏 The church trip does sound interesting 🙂 Hopefully your catnaps during the day didn’t affect your sleep last night 🤞
Happy_Kitties, what a lovely surprise to come home to 🥹 Hope you had a lovely weekend away 😊 I love that you combined it with decluttering so many more neutral items 👏 & as you have gone over 1,000 items I am awarding you another Gold Star ⭐️ Also some great general decluttering 👏
Excellent decluttering TC77 👏 Good luck using up all your frozen food 🍀 but if not could you ask a neighbour to keep food in their freezer until your new one is up & running? Loved This “Neighbour going to be in checking on cats at the weekend so needs to be ok and for her not to think I've been burgled! 😊”
Excellent work using up food suzeesu2000 👏 Well done on clearing a debt 🥳 a medal 🏅 is on its way 🙂 Good luck with the family tree 🍀
I broke off here, to make dinner - linguine with a creamy pea & ham sauce. I will be back later 👋

I am so loving this weather. I’ve even had to put a zip up hoody on this afternoon as it suddenly got quite cold hurray. DH saw a man who does weather predictions, by methods other than the norm, and he said it’s going to be a very cold winter. There are zillions of berries around us too, much more than I’ve previously noticed.
Thanks for medal @Mrs_Salad_Dodger x
Decluttered about a pound of dust off the kitchen blind this morning. I haven’t been rolling it down and it was filthy!Dfriend came back from their weekend away yesterday so she popped in today. I always look after their house when they go away and, knowing I am getting rid of stuff not bringing more in, she only brings me back a fridge magnet. I appreciate that she brings me a gift and also that she has respected I don’t want clutter which I think is wonderful of her, she is a brilliant friend.Decluttered a little bit from freezer and pantry shelves for dinner and also sorted a few bits ready to go to Foodbank, just stacking on my step stool until I have a couple of carrier bags full. Also decided I really should ditch the jelly, I have quite a few of the sugar free ones and they don’t feel right in the sachets. The fact they went OOD in 2021 MIGHT have something to do with it.Have a good night all, sleep tightSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Forgot to say Mr V gave a golf umbrella away on Sunday. One of the ones acquired at Brands Hatch recently.I am beginning to think Mr V has a golf umbrella problem. He can't say no to a free umbrella. I just can't find people to give them to fast enough.
I have also got him to put the house keys onto free from Brands Hatch key rings. I need to make him a big badge to wear that says My wife says I don't need free stuff, thanks.
On Friday we will declutter 7 pieces of bulky furniture. The new people asked to buy it. I think we would have had an incredible struggle to get the bedroom furniture out. Win win.
Mum and baby still in hospital. Baby still doing good but not quite good enough to go home yet.
Could do without hospital tomorrow. Good job I had everything packed for the house move early. Can't believe it is finally happening.
Take care Vx:11 -

Yippee to the 2 sales purplevamp 🥳 a win win - decluttering & earning some cash 👏 The banana & ginger cake sounds yummy 😋 As to This “I read that you get more and more tired the nearer to de@th you are, so that's cheery!! xx” how depressing 😧
Fingers crossed that you packed tonight BlueJ94 🤞 That weetabix cheesecake looks so delicious 🤤
florianatwobob, a busy day off 👏 with a pleasurable interlude at the garden centre 😊
Lovely cheerleading Moorviews ☺️ Hopefully you won’t be so busy & can catch up on some sleep 🙏
vulpix, obviously your DS doesn’t have your vision 😅 Although still a bit of a cheeky comment 😉 Very pleased to hear that baby V has got the idea about feeding ☺️ Reminds me a bit of my nephew T - he was so laid back that he used to fall asleep when he was being given a bath 🙊 Hopefully both Mum & baby will be home soon 🙏 It is one of those weird things that other people’s beds are rarely as comfortable as one’s own bed 🤨 Shame that you couldn’t attend the funeral with MrV 😞 but your health is more important & you need to rest up before the house move 🥹 I hope that the “urgent scan and appointment at hospital tomorrow” is nothing serious 🙏
Brie, one Trumpet fanfare 🎺 🥳 I imagine it was a real shock that he was so keen 😳 although This “Then things started to go a bit wrong as he proceeded to put all the things that are to be kept into his parent's glassware cupboard rather than back into the Ikea unit. Instead he has territorially placed his boxed set of Edith Piaf LPs in one of the Ikea cubes.” appears to explain why 🙊 As to This “Maybe I can forget and start returning some glasses to the Ikea unit. Or would that be naughty?” not naughty at all 😉 & I think the first glasses you should put in the IKEA unit are your “Georg Jensen blown shot glasses acquired in Copenhagen on my first trip to Europe in 1975” 😊 You are donating some beautiful glassware & a lot of it 👏🤩 I am awarding you each a medal 🏅 🏅 & am also sending you 💐
Green_hopeful, I loved This “We did my in laws glasses while we were clearing their house. They had loads of sherry/port glasses. My sister in law is always short of port glasses so I asked if she wanted some. She said no she didn’t want anything from her parents house. I picked the set I thought she would like the best and wrapped them for her birthday. She laughed when she opened them. I don’t know if she chucked them or not.” 😂 I do love cut glass - so beautiful & classy 😍 Great news that you found a charity shop to take the tuxedos 🥳 more successful decluttering 👏
Nice to see you Fizz2015 👋 Some great decluttering especially completing the project mgmt course assignment 👏 A week away somewhere hot & sunny sounds wonderful ☺️ now it is starting to get colder, especially in the evenings 😞
suzeesu2000, as long as it doesn’t rain, I don’t mind the colder weather………too much 😉 Not sure I am a fan of This “DH saw a man who does weather predictions, by methods other than the norm, and he said it’s going to be a very cold winter.” 🥶 I will need to treat myself to some socks 😉 What a brilliant friend 🤩 & fridge magnets take up so little space 🙂 Good work decluttering food supplies & very generous to donate to food bank 👏
vulpix, really liked This “I am beginning to think Mr V has a golf umbrella problem.” 🤭 At least you probably have plenty of crafting materials for This “I need to make him a big badge to wear that says “My wife says I don't need free stuff, thanks.” 😉 Pleased to hear that mum & baby are doing better & hopefully will both be home for the weekend 🤞 It is getting exciting now - you will finally be moving on Friday 🥳 & it will be a great decluttering day - 7 pieces of bulky furniture 👏 Nearly there 😮💨
All caught up 🥳 Sleep tight everyone 😴

@Brie well done, grand fanfare deserved!
I think I have more glasses and was going to post a pic of one cabinet and then noticed a quarter of it was empty.... I decluttered some last year, but do have others elsewhere.
someone advertised some 1960s amber glassware -I thought I'd pick up a handful of things - my car could only just cope - they'd boxed up everything so I had to take it all. 12 small/large plates/ small/large bowls, /wine glasses, small/large drinking glasses!! 4 large serving bowls Gave away wine glasses and small drinking glasses and a serving bowl. There is only one of me! (DD2 will return). Not mentioning others but 2026 may be the year to get all out on the table..
Decluttered scaffolding yesterday! meant to be up 1 or 2 weeks and went up before august bank holiday... but the front door will have to wait til Spring - however, I think makes it look as I probably don't have anything worth anyone coming in to take
Frog list growing quicker than I am doing things but using the mornings to do this. Tackling dining table which I'm working from as warmer until I put the heating on all day. Paper decluttered
Mrs SD, very impressed with Mr SD's progress and discipline.
Much of the fridge/freezer has been decluttered (in me) so may have to declutter lbs.
Dropped off CS bag on Monday which I may have reported already. Started another with a large bedspread.
@vulpix great news about new people taking furniture and your move, and glad baby and mum doing well.
I love the idea of the badge. If I told DD1 about it she'd be making me one and putting a sign on my front door!

Hi all, another couple of lazy days consisting of short bursts of action interspersed with lounging around 😂. The big corner cupboard in the kitchen has been completely emptied but various contents are still spread along the kitchen counter waiting to be washed and decisions made about if they are to be stored and kept or put in the cs bag. Some discussion with OH about a couple of things which OH says to get rid of but I am prevaricating because I actually love them. I think they will be kept for now and put in a box until after the kitchen is done. I might feel more able to let them go then 😁.
On Monday I visited my friend M, whose DH had a stroke and I took a few things for E who was also visiting, a box of chocs to thank her for the sewing job she did, a mat thing for rolling out icing on, 4 Christmas mould things so she can make things with her dgc and a big pair of floor length curtains that ln had passed to me and I intended to shorten but then realised I probably wouldn't for a good while so passed them on 😁. E has patio windows and is also clever with a sewing machine and she was very glad to take them so win win 😁.
Yesterday I cleared about 3 big bags of leaves from the front garden as the green bin had been emptied, what wouldn't fit in the bin was swept into the road as the council will be round soon to sweep the road. They have to do it at this time of year otherwise the grids get blocked and the road floods. Sometimes they send a man with a blower to clear the pavements as well but it's not guaranteed and despite attempts of bribery they will not do front gardens 😂. I will try to clear ln's front garden today or tomorrow. Ln has a saying that I borrow, "they are not my leaves, they are the corpies leaves so they can collect them" . She's quite right of course and now we have to pay for the green bin she objects to filling it with their leaves 😂. The problem is when they are left on the pavements and front paths they get wet and sloppy so a brush and shovel were deployed on the pavement as well 😂.
In between times I have had 6 LDFPA, 5 items put in the cs bag with more likely to join them, to be counted when they leave the house, an item of ood food binned that OH bought but didn't like which has sat in the cupboard for over a year, another item heading to the food bank, again bought by OH but doesn't like but is still in date, not counted until it's out of the house.
I have ordered flowers to be sent to my Dsis to encourage her, still doing well walking around upstairs with a walking frame and has decided to pay for a private physio to visit her at home as she will have to wait too long for the nhs and has no idea how to get down the stairs. I have my own ideas about this, having had knee surgery in the past, but Dsis has no confidence in her abilities, which is a totally different problem to overcome, so it's for the best although I think it is totally unacceptable to send someone home from hospital after a knee replacement without making sure she can get up and down stairs. There are other issues as well that I think my Dniece is dealing with admirably, I would have probably lost the plot if it had been me 😂. I am going to try to speak to my Dniece today to get an accurate assessment of the state of play rather than just chatting to my Dsis.
Today I am meeting up with an ex colleague for a quick coffee after they have finished work for a catch up so I have some sorting to do before I head out 😂.
@Vulpix glad to hear J is improving and eveything crossed he will be home soon. Also good luck with the move, hope everything goes smoothly but make sure you don't overdo it on the day, big hugs.
Welcome to new people, sorry very remiss of me not to have said this before 😂
Right time for another cuppa and a proper catch up with all the posts, only done a quick skim this morning 😂
Hugs to everyone who would like one

Had work going on so found it hard to declutter with the builders in as everything is everywhere.
I have got rid of some pottery items that I made. They were awful and my first attempts. Anyway, about 6 of them were put in the bin. Got so much to do in the house now, but will get there.September 2017 Debt = £25330
