2025 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD - The Joy of Decluttering

Muddy, what a relief. I am so pleased that your company owned their mistake.
A lovely memento Mehefin.
Mr V wants to go out... again? He doesn't know where he wants to go to. Nowhere round here on a fine bank holiday weekend that's for sure. I would like to go a walk in places I know that no tourists know of. His idea of a walk is a shopping centre. Nooooooooooo.

Hi all, we made it to Nottingham to pick up the part for the car, stopped for a coffee and used the facilities and turned around to head back. The Sat nav informed us there were major hold ups on the M6 and M56 so took us to Ellesmere port on A roads, which was apparently the quickest route. It was much prettier than the motorway would have been 😁. We passed quite near to the creamfields site and we remembered Henry the horse who sadly had to be put to sleep last year and had visions of him returning in ghostly form to attend the festival this year 😁. The part was delivered and we went to a sub shop to use the facilities and treated ourselves to a sub each and another coffee which we sat and ate in the car as we were both a bit hungry by then 😁. Then we just headed home. We were out of the house for about 8 hours so not too bad considering there seemed to be a lot of people on the move 😁. I 'd put a load of washing on the line before we left so luckily it was dry so that was dealt with and the bathroom bin was emptied on the way out but that was all the decluttering that was done yesterday. I confess I went to bed for an hour when I got home as I could feel a headache coming on and resorted to taking a painkiller with a cup of tea and a bottle of water. I was ok after the short snooze but we just watched some tv in the evening 😁. We are hoping the car will be ready by Wednesday 👃. OH is much less stressed now.
@Vulpix I did give you a wave 😁. If we hadn't been on a mission we could have called in for a cuppa 😁. I wonder if Mr V went to the same car part recycling centre we went to or is Nottingham the world centre for such things 😂. I hope he was as successful as we were, OH thinks we saved about £700 so worth the half a tank of petrol 😁.
@Mrs SD hope the wedding goes well and you have a great time. Shoes are always my nemesis with posh outfits. Sketchers are my go to shoes these days as well , or my walking boots 😂. I am wondering why you don't travel in the car, Dsis could take the kitchen sink then if she wanted 😂
@GrannyKate that is a beautiful picture, a real treasure
@Muddy_Walker big hugs
@Wednesday2000 interesting article, interested to see how I get on today 😁
@mehefin beautiful christening gown 😁
@YBR you are doing so much, wish I had your energy 😁
This post has taken ages as for some reason bits of it keep disappearing 🙄. So far today all I have done is set the washing machine going and written a menu plan 😂.
Right off to do something 😂
Hugs to everyone who would like one

Afternoon all - busy week so frogs still croaking at me. I'll get to them. DS2 has taken three loads to tip this morning from his and mine but given up now as town is manic - not sure why although I guess it's bank holiday. DGS4 has decided to stay with me tonight which is fine as he isn't really any trouble. I tried to organise bulk collection for old bed but cannot have a free collection until after November as allowance for this year used up by previous owners. DS2 will try and get it in car this week. We purchased a non slip tread for kitchen door step - it is currently painted white concrete and gets very slippery when wet - hopefully DS2 can fit it. At the same time he purchased a plug box but we then realised he had bought a box of 10 - guess they will get used up.

I have hung on to my son's christening gown which was his mother's, and his grandmother's.As he is now 32 and Dawn was born in1959, and I've forgotten when GM was born !! Lets just say it is ancient!! It is made of Nottingham lace and hand embroidered. Will try to post some pics .WOW! What a fantastic Christening robe - Look at that absolutely superb needle workOn the subject of vintage clothing - Has anyone thought about hiring out their vintage clothing / items for special occasions / events? Just a thought for your bank account
I suppose it depends on how comfortable you feel about handing over your precious item(s) to be used and returned in the same condition it was hired out in?! I know I have a few pieces that would be a no, but fot others....umm food for thought!
Another crazy morning here with Missy deciding she wanted a longish walk so off we wentIt's dinner time, so off to get missy her nosh before I get to eat minePopped over to see gorgeous Gorda who wanted to show me around the complete huge back garden before plonking herself down in the sun to play rolly polly kick her legs up for half an hour!
Her eating is much better today, but her ears have become a little sensitive again
I'm hoping & praying it's a frech chicken allergy rather than infection. I've managed to take pics, write up descriptions & list 10 decluttered items for sale (in my PJ's - naturally!), so hoping they'll be leaving the house pronto!
I'm hoping to have everything decluttered by November - I did say it would take all year!
The best part is NO evil tardis wardrobe of doom which was a real pain, to say the least
Ta-ta for now folks! xxxx

Morning , can I ask if anyone else had stopped getting notifications of new messages for some reason? I can't see why as no settings changed.
I started sorting a range of things and last night left the house looking very chaotic !
Progress made with random bits of plastic ( old hoover bits maybe out) old earphones, plastic wallets and some unused plastic wallets for bank of things. 2 notebooks taken apart recycled and unused pages set aside for notes,
My everyday file ( lever arch) sorted and thinned out with lots of recycling. Bag taken to cs.
Lined a chest of drawers with some vintage wallpaper I love but not on walls and debating how best to use them as have hodge podge of things in it and can't think best way to use.
Sorted another book shelf and have pile of books to keep for dds but don't need on overflowing shelf and others to pass on.
Off to tidy up and then out for much of the day but hope to catch up with some frogs!
Counting as 12 as some emails deleted.9 -
@mehefin that Christening robe is beautiful. What an amazing thing to be able to pass to your son.
@Dizzycap I hope Gorda's ears are clear today. It's good to hear that babyface is well and busy.
I'm still trying to do my 5 things a day with the occasional missed day. The current total is 150. Yesterday we dropped off the multi coloured snake to my friend's daughter. Ds wanted to call at the pokemon card shop so we did that on the way home. He also put bird food out in the garden and approximately 30 sparrows turned up. The kitten was so, so excited.10 -
Hi all, quite a lazy day for me yesterday as I was still tired from all the driving on Friday but a meal plan was writted and a shopping list created. We will go today. I had a clear out in the fridge and a couple of things OH had put and left there were binned grrr. Some dead flowers from OH's birthday were binned, the kitchen bin and kitchen recycling were emptied. 2 loads of washing on the line but still there as not quite dry. I identified a bath sheet to go to the animal rescue but OH has objected as it's a favourite so we shall have to keep it a bit longer 🙄. I have a couple of frogs lurking that I have been procrastinating over that I should get on with so might make a start on them today.
Right off to get another cuppa and get on with something 😂.

Not so much vintage clothing and not so much decluttering - although I have given this to my only niece as she was named after her grandmother who made this is the early 60s when her daughter (my beloved DM) moved to Scotland from Germany. The thistles are especially poignant. After the photo was taken I had it restored at the The Royal School of Needlework before sending it off to Australia. My mother cherished this as did I, however it was best to pass it on as my wee stone cottage would have been the death of it. I have so many items which my grandmother stitched, from pulled thread table clothes to fully embroidered ones to initials on damask napkins.

Counting as 12 as some emails deleted.Oh well, it'll get sorted xxx It's a little warmer here today and the sun has been out for an hour before it went back into hiding for now. All the usual basic HH decluttering & cleaning and presently slow cooking a lovely beef joint which is driving babyface crazy with the wait
We went out for a very early 4.30am walk as I needed to collect a couple of parcels for my neighbour. I decided I would go out in my PJ's and just pop a coat on as we wouldn't be long - famous last words
Arrived at locker and it had a windows error / malfuntion, so I thought I can fix this
10 minutes later locker computer rebooted and I could finally get the parcels out - Missy was loving all the silly games I was playing on the screen wearing my PJ's
Dropped off the 2 parcels to my neighbour while off for my usual daily Gorda visit this morning, only to be told there's another 3 to collect
Gorda's absolutely full of it today and she had 3 afternoon visitors yesterday, so she's feeling on cloud 9, especially as her eating issues have now been resolved
It's nice to have both girls feeling & looking very well after 2 months of hell for them both
Not a lot else happening today PJ's and rest day
I hope everyone has a fabulous decluttering SundayTake care all & ta-ta for now xxxxxx
