2025 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD - The Joy of Decluttering

Just plodding along here with my tidying of 10 sticky things a day and trying to find one thing to declutter. The place is getting tidier and tidier and when DS had a friend round last week, I didn't even consider tidying before they came. There has been a number of occasions when I've sat down when the kids are playing and realised it feels weird because I would normally be trying to tidy or declutter and I don't need to do either.Current plans are to continue trying to use everything and oust the odd thing here and there we are not using, declutter the kitchen (mostly food stores), try to buy as little as possible and then I need to start figuring out how to fit a bit more cleaning into my day. Now I don't have to spend ages sorting through stuff I may do a timer every weekday instead. The kitchen declutter is not going that well and for some reason my freezer is again full. So I've decided I need mini challenges as part of the overall kitchen declutter challenge. For now until possibly the end of September I will be counting things in/out of the freezer as I need a decent negative figure (10-20) to get it under control. I have started yesterday and have more that's gone in than has come outMy parents and sister are here and they didn't get too much for the kids and they were things the kids asked for.1 - poor quality and damaged potato masher (binned)
1 - magazine recycled
1 - kids books (charity box)
1 - damaged plant tray (recycling)New total 4,026
Use it up total 345
Mini freezer challenge +3 (aim: -20)
Big kitchen declutter challenge 115/150Note to self: I must try out my work shoes now I'm back in an office to decide whether I actually want to keep them all or not (only 3 pairs)! Currently I wear my favourite boots for all occasions and I will wear them into the ground as they are perfect for home and work and are very comfy.2025 decluttering: 4,908 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟2025 use up challenge: 351🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Mini freezer challenge 0/-20Big kitchen declutter challenge 115/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 50011 -

@Dizzycap "Has anyone thought about hiring out their vintage clothing / items for special occasions / events? Just a thought for your bank account
I suppose it depends on how comfortable you feel about handing over your precious item(s) to be used and returned in the same condition it was hired out in?!"
Things will not return in the condition they were hired out in.
If a garment has any emotional ties for you, renting is not the way forward.
(There was a good reason why 75% of the garments at the fancy dress shop I worked in were washable. Also, a vintage group I frequent has endless tales of rented vintage being returned in no fit state...)‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Thanks for letting us know gremlins at work.
I've been doing a tai chi summer camp, 4 hours today and 2 hours tomorrow, some evenings and next Sunday so not done much else. I find it hard to remember what I've learnt and one of the few oldies!
Cleaned the dishwasher filter and did a cleaning run so hopefully work better.
Large kitchen bowl and trousers in cs bag, some gardening stuff out, work notebook recycled.some other paper out but little else.
Debating whether to get rid of drinking glasses but undecided but I do have space and both dds may take some at some point.
Forgot text book passed on so another 7.
Mrs SD hope the wedding went well.
I'm struggling to get rid of a daybed ..bhf due to take but not til October so we Will seem.
Have a good holiday Monday x

To keep pressing forwards with the decluttering I really do need to start tackling some of the digital stuff. I build it up as something terrible in my head, but whenever I look at it I know I have way less than I think and it's never that bad. I did some easy document stuff today to kick it all off.Digital:

Shed is now filled with firewood for the winter. There are still a couple of sections that need going through but they are not urgent, are accessible and can be left until other areas of life are working more efficiently.
Now going through old lists which have built up again and working out priorities for this week so can hit the ground running in the morning. TD has decided to make a horrible noise. Already have a broken oven and various other things in the home not working so will need to sort out some help to do that but not just yet as I need to feel more on top of things before I can contemplate having someone in a small space and moving things around constantly so they can get to where they need to be.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅12 -
Took DD1 to the airport yesterday. She is in Shetland for a week, working and seeing friends.
We went to the £1 charity shop afterwards. £2 spent on a pair of orange shoes, reminiscent of those Cornish pasty shoes of old and an over sized NY sport hoody. The hoody is very lightly bobbly.I will use my bobble machine on it before washing. I think it has only been worn once, the fluff inside is still fluffy iykwim.
No decluttering at all other than cutting brambles back and filling the green bin. Mr V has taken stuff off the walls outside. Hanging basket bracket, empty bird boxes etc.
Mr V spoke to the solicitor the other day, I don't know if I said the sale might not be until the 3rd week in September. I am feeling very flat about it. No enthusiasm for it at all anymore. Nothing left to pack now, other than the clothes we wear and kitchen stuff we use.Oh the curtains are still at the windows too.
Cooking on the cards for today and knitting, always knitting. The wool stash is slowly reducing.
